Montana Vintage Clothing could be a goldmine, but unfortunately it's run by a passive-aggressive,…read moregrey-haired woman who fat-shames customers under the pretense of "taking your measurements to match you to the right fits." When I found a pair of cute shorts and asked to try them on she said she'd have to "measure me first." I politely declined, assuming it was an optional service, to which she further informed me, it was not. Then things got weird. Because the shorts were cute (and cheap), I begrudgingly let her measure my waist. To which she said "ohh, they're too small," and put them back on the rack (they were actually my size) When I said I'd like to try them anyway, she smugly told me I could purchase them, but I still wasn't allowed to try them on. It was hands down the weirdest, most invasive, and humiliating shopping experience I've had. And it explains why the store is bursting at the seams with clothing. I doubt anyone actually buys anything after being treated like that. If you enjoy unsolicited body commentary and being size-policed over $20 vintage shorts, this place is for you. Otherwise, run. And a tip for the owner: If you want to run a 'by fitting only' boutique, then run a proper by-appointment fitting room where you pull sizes for people instead of wasting their time and humiliating them. Vintage isn't supposed to come with a side of shame.

We visited this store today. Unbeknownst to us. It is a pride festival day downtown so it was very…read morenoisy walking in the streets. My son had visited the store before and requested that we go inside. Immediately we were greeted by Maggie who went out of her way to give us the history of the store and show us various products. She explained each product and how it was made. She was incredible. The amount of time she spent with us just to make sure we understood the quality of the product you make. We ended up buying two T-shirts not necessarily because we were looking to buy them but more because of the experience we had talking to her. To have that level of customer service and willingness to go out of your way is something not often visible today.
