This was my first time coming to Food Truck Thursdays and I'm glad I chose this truck. I have been craving an authentic gyro for a minute now so this was much anticipated. My sisters fiance and I both order the Beef Kabob Pita sandwich, which we loved. Their pita was perfectly cooked and had a buttery flavor, it was delicious, I could have eaten it alone. I got a combo and decided to try their falafel as my side. It was just alright but not the best I have ever had, I probably would switch my side to the saffron rice next time. My sister order the lamb pita sandwich with a side of fries, which she also enjoyed. Their fries were fresh and crispy, standard french fry cut. We also got their strawberry lemonade. I highly recommend, it was perfectly sweet and sour. The strawberry added a nice flavor and we chugged these down pretty quick. Prices were reasonable for a food truck, we only waited about ten minutes for our food. read more

This spot has some of the best Greek fries I've ever had- period. Food trucks are usually not my thing, but I had to try the fries after seeing this truck at a recent block party event. Hot and fresh, and topped with garlic sauce, tzatziki, and feta, they were a dream. I can't wait to spot this truck in the wild again soon. read more

One fine day Gyro Chef showed up at my front door. I thought I was dreaming as I remember thinking of Gyros the night before....but they were really there... Their menu offers some sandwiches, platters, tacos and burgers. Not too extensive, which is great for a food truck! I decided to order the lamb gyro sandwich and the loaded Greek fries! $9 for a sandwich and $8 for the loaded fries - a little much but I thought the quantity would make up for it. After waiting a few minutes I got my food and opted for some hot sauce on top to liven my dishes up.. The gyro looked stacked and I was ready to stuff my face.. nice soft pita, generous portion of lettuce well drenched with flavorful tzatziki. But on my first bite, I started getting disappointed. The meat was rather dry, and not enough in comparison to the lettuce. A little more tzatziki would have been great too.. The loaded Greek fries on the other hand were fantastic! The fries were fresh and crispy, the feta cheese and tzatziki on top made it extra heavenly. All in all I liked 50% of my meal but I may give them a second chance... another dish another experience? read more

Gyro Chef food truck came to work. I decided to try it out since it meant I didn't have to leave work to get lunch. The Beef SevenSeas platter was not very good. The food was bland, they smothered the platter with sauces, even when asked not to. The Beef itself was not very beefy, more processed. It seems like the food was all premade as it took all of one minute to get my food, and it was Luke warm. Prices are a bit high compared to the quantity and quality of the food. In today's day and age and the number of Mediterranean options available in Atlanta, I would avoid this truck, unless you really have no other options. read more

10/10 for a food truck! I have had my fair share of food truck experiences and this place did not disappoint!! I did not have the highest of hopes so I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered: Chicken Shawarma (Extra Pickles) Loaded Fries Hummus Everything was great! Literally no complaints. I always add some hummus to my shawarma and the loaded fries were OMG. I'm very surprised that the relatively low ratings on here. I'll preface this by saying I probably hold food trucks to a lower standard simply because it's rare that I find one that's above average and they are usually more expensive, but my whole family was very impressed with Gyro Chef. The meats were delicious overall - the beef is delicious (had it on a Seven Seas platter intending to share it with my wife, but I only got 1 bite because she loved it so much), the gyro lamb meat is extremely flavorful (and made for wonderful tacos - I'm a big gyro fan, but I might actually like it better as a taco), and the chicken is good (my daughter loved the chicken taco). Falafel is one of those things I normally like consistently, but rarely find any I love. I loved the Gyro Chef's falafel. Hummus is pretty standard. Good, but not notable. I will look forward to their return to our neighborhood, and will probably check their website occasionally to see if they're nearby. read more

As a general rule I'm NOT a fan of food trucks, because the prices are ASTRONOMICAL, the portions are MINIMAL and the taste of the food is generally average at best. Gyro Chef Truck didn't break the mold of my previous statement on any level. So I see all the bad reviews but I noticed they are at least a year old. Things have changed here at ole Gyro Chef. I am TRYING to be more health conscious so I ordered the lamb salad. I may or may not have complained to my husband that I really wanted a gyro with fries. Let's just say after one bite of this salad, I was not upset I didn't order what I truly wanted. This salad was phenomenal. The lamb had a crusty char on it that was amazing. Lettuce and veggies were fresh and salad dressing was to die for. Definitely had a heavy lemon flavor but it gave the salad a bright, refreshing flavor that left me wanting more. Cost was on point. Delivery of food was a Wow factor. I'm sure he had everything prepped and ready to go but we had our food within 7 minutes. My husband enjoyed his chicken gyro. Said it was hot temperature wise (no one likes luke warm food) and had good flavor. I usually taste his food so I can at least speak on it in my review but my salad was so good I was more focused on it than what he had. I'm hoping to see this truck in downtown Woodstock more often. What a dumpster fire of an experience. 1. Charged me a different price than what was on the menu 2. Took a phone call in the middle of my order, refused to answer price question, pre-tipped himself, and charged card without a signature 3. Stopped by this truck while in Atlanta for a convention. Overall experience was ok. They were pretty slow and even after ordering it took 10 minute to get my food and they forgot my drink. The gyro was lamb which is always nice. They didn't charge me for the extra taziki which I'm glad j got because the meat was a bit dry. The baklava is what got them the 3 vs 4 star review though. The piece came out and I thought it looked a bit burnt - but they told me it was just browned on the top. This was not the case. It tasted burnt. It was also very dry like they hadn't used much honey in it at all. I'd get the gyro again if I was in a pinch but I wouldn't search this place out. read more

Flavorful, but portions aren't proportion to what you spend. I realized why I didn't go back for a while to this food truck. The memories came running past me when I got my order and almost threw my container in the air. Not from anger, but from the fact there wasn't a lot of food in the container. I would have taken a picture but the thing was so light I actually did bump into something and i dropped it but caught it at the last minute. Why dont they have bags? What if someone gets two orders? I hate when people adhere to the dimensions of a container. So I asked for rice but they filled just the corner section of the container with rice. The greek salad was the bed for the meal and the chicken although flavorful was cold and below room temp. It could have been heated up a bit so it could take a walk if going someplace else. Rice was decent. But for 14 bucks I could have driven to Hapeville and gotten more food for less price! read more

This truck came to the neighborhood and provided absolutely horrible service. First off, I chose 6pm to be my pick up time online but the order was ready at 5:15pm. Luckily, I wasn't stuck somewhere and was able to go pick it up 45 minutes early. I was also not the only one who's order was ready extremely early. Second, I ordered the Greek burger with a lamb gyro add on (NOT the double meat option) and there was no gyro. I went back to the truck to let them know and the cook brought out the owner. The owner then said that I was the one who ordered it wrong and began to explain to me how the website works saying that I chose double meat. I am pretty sure my order does not say double meat which is a separate add on (see image attached). He then refused to give me the gyro. Then after I pointed out that my food was ready 45 min early, he tried taking my food from me and said they'd make it at 6pm even though I was already there picking it up. Obviously, the owner does not have the "customer is always right" mentality even if the customer is right and has the proof. If your website is that confusing, then fix it and don't blame the customer. And to top it off, the food isn't even that good...especially for the price. read more

It was just okay. I've read the few reviews and decided to give them a try being they were parked outside of my place of employment. So the food: way too pricey for just a gyro and fries with no drink. $14 was the cost. There are other locations nearby that are not necessarily Greek restaurants that do a way better job for less. In the area I work finding food is easy, but anything of quality is not. I do hope that the owner takes the time to read the reviews to improve. read more

I'm giving this two stars because the food is usually pretty good. We visit this truck when they are at truck and tap. I recently checked my account and noticed that a ridiculously large tip was added to our bill. I'm all for tipping people with good service as I have served before, but stealing is not cool. We called and whoever answered said to send our information so they could look into it and we never received a call back. Really sucks because we usually have a good experience, but I guess we will pass next time. read more

We've had food trucks come to our building at Regions Plaza in Midtown every Friday for several months, and this is, by far, my favorite! I had the Sevenseas Platter with chicken, and everything on it was excellent. The chicken was very tender, the sauce was tasty without overpowering the other flavors, the Greek salad was a perfectly sized portion with a nice light dressing, and the pita and hummus were delicious! I'll definitely follow this truck and order again when given the chance. My coworkers liked the lamb and the beef, too, by the way. We're all fans! read more

One of the best gyro places I've ever went to. It isn't too expensive and it's very authentic. It definitely is "the best gyro in Atlanta"! The workers were also very nice and helpful. There isn't any seating, so plan on not sitting there. Everytime I go to Atlanta I make sure I go there at least once. I'd also like to add I'm Lebanese if that gives me any credibility haha. You should try it even if you doubt you'll enjoy it, it can surprise you! read more

This truck was parked outside my place of employment for a food truck event. The food is tasty, portions are not that big and for a chicken sharma with fries it was $15 (with tax). I just thought it was expensive and I had 4 little chicken cubes in my sharma for $10. Also I'm not an expert but if you have food to go- I thought you didn't pay tax? This food truck takes advantage of busy weekends by adding in tips to consumer's purchases without mentioning it. They total the order, add a 20% tip, and advise the person to sign for the total without their knowledge of the addition. I'm all for tipping those who assist us, but to remove the discretion for the consumer is ridiculous. Don't trust this truck. read more

I've been going to festivals for years as well as visiting several trucks and never been charged tax after seeing the price posted until I bought from Gyro Chef. I also agree with the other reviews here stating the portions, in my opinion it's not worth the price. I did call to verify and was told the tax being add was posted, I didn't see it. read more
