    Salsas were all great

Breakfast tacos?! Hell yes! And these were spot on, lotsa eggs packed into nice size flour tortillas, with fresh ingredients. Got two, and the pico de gallo here is also outstanding. Very good service! Thumbs up for the brisket too. The place is pretty frigging huge but it's laid out very well. Great rustic ambience, basic but not divey, in an old building with high ceilings and a buzzy atmosphere. It's on South Congress so parking is tricky.

Incredibly average place, I wouldn't recommend if you are looking for really good food but it'll do the job. The service was a bit odd as well. They seemed to be rushing us out and even took our plates away when there was still a decent amount of food left on the plate and we had not been sitting long. It happened so quick and aggressively that we didn't have time to stop him before he threw the plates in the bin. Overall, food is ~fine~ and the chips were actually very good just not worth the stop in my opinion.

An average taco spot. 3.8 to be more accurate. Price is okay for where it is. I would say the sides are not really worth it in terms of price and quality. Ala cart seemed like it would have been a better way to go. The beers were pretty cheap. Frozen margs were also just average. This would be a place I would stop by only for survival..

Perfect happy hour at the bar!

We always have the best time at this place! The food is really fresh and flavorful, their margs are perfect. Ask for Ramon at the bar, he's a true master at bartending. We prefer bar seating, it's friendly and always meet new people and catch familiar faces as well. The menu is diverse enough for everyone in your party. Guero's atmosphere is true Austin!

We loved this restaurant , great location right on South Congress, good food and margaritas and next door they have a really great patio/outdoor area that regularly has live music. The tacos and tostadas were excellent and we loved that they had unlimited salsa bar. Good service too. They stay pretty busy, so definitely recommend a reservation.

These are some great Austin tacos! It's a great location right at in the heart of all the shopping. The staff was super friendly and they gave an assortment of salsas with chips. The margaritas are also so delicious in this Texas heat!

Good spot for some good Tex-Mex. It was pretty busy Sunday at lunch hour but there wasn't a wait. They have an unlimited salsa/green sauce/pico bar that you can use for the chips they provide- the salsa was my favorite. I ordered the gringo omelette which was quite good- the potatoes were my favorite part and nothing disappointed. Would recommend stopping by.

Everything was delicious! The sauces, guacamole and chips... bueno. The wet carne asada burrito were the most amazing. The flavors blended so well. We sat inside on a warm September day. Great experience.

Another stop on a food tour, I loved the interior decor We tried the Al pastor taco- this was a solid 10/10 for flavor- nice touch with the pineapple mango ! The tortilla chips and different salsas are also very tasty-you can tell everything is freshly made Dropped a star because I did not enjoy the Ranch water beverage at all I would stick to margaritas!! Nice friendly staff

Didn't eat here most recent visit, so not reviewing the food. But this place is iconic - and oozes old Austin vibes, and makes me nostalgic for a different era. For those who saw the movie Chef, you'll recognize this as the bar depicted where Gary Clark Jr was playing. Great setup for live music outside, nice spacious area with plenty of seating. Sound is good. Great local bands. Cheap / reasonably priced drinks, friendly and quick bartenders. Nothing beats drinking a cold one on a breezy night in Austin listening to live music here. Highly recommend if you want to experience what Austin was like decades ago, and hope it sticks around for decades to come!

Loved this place! My husband and I came for drinks and queso. We both had delish margs and their salsa bar was to die for. In my husband's words, the queso had "no notes"

Service was nice. It was busy Just not wowed My enchilada was chicken with. Side of rice and refried beans. Great flavor. My wife had the carne taco We had 2 beers two margaritas Just not impressed we even asked the waiter asking if we did something or anything wrong... he said nope this is a Tex mex location if you don't ask you don't get.

This became a place we went to a lot in Austin due to the location, atmosphere, decent food, and amazing frozen margs. Is it the most outstanding Tex-Mex you'll ever have? Probably not. But it hits the spot, especially the chicken tinga tacos. Their Heartbreaker frozen marg (pictured below) was one of the best I ever had. Service has always been wonderful, fast, and accommodating. They have live music outside you can go to after you eat and continue drinking. If you're on South Congress and in the mood for mexican, this is a great option.

We have a parking lot next to the restaurant or a parking garage behind us. We validate for 2 hours in the parking garage

Do they allow dogs on the patio?

    Yes

    Is smoking allowed outside?

I think you maybe able to smoke in the beer garden next door. Don't believe you can in the few table outside the front door.

She noticed I was ordering dairy items on side and asked about if pesto in guacamole was ok. So astute and kind of her. Also on my friends second drink remembered she didn't want salt or her rim without even asking - Everything tasted so fresh and high quality - Brisket tacos: packed with flavor--maybe it was the wagyu meat or the black magic oil. Freshly made corn tortillas were awesome. Usually corn ones and pretty throwaway meh, but these added to the greatness of the tacos. 5 stars - Duck flautas: crispy covered in mild mole. Loved the mashed potato addition inside for some mellowness and texture. 5 stars - Guacamole: so fresh and that dollop of pesto on top was lovely. Served with crispy masa dippers were impressive almost a 8x11 page size. It was fun to crack off into pieces, but hard to stop eating it. 5 stars - Sweet potato: friend loved these long charred wedges. 4.5 stars - Cocktails were stellar. I got the Don Dario which was a play on a marg and delightful - $12 of a few drinks during lucky hour (Mon-Fri 5-6pm, Sat-Sun 3-5pm) - High energy vibes in a clean, open, tan colored space - Had their bottle water on the table in a champagne bottle which speaks to my heart Midlights: - In East Austin so have to Uber if you are staying more central - Tacos come in orders of 4. Arriba Abajo as you walked in just gave me all the vibes of a happening place when you want to hang out with friends and have a great time. We ordered the braised ribs rolled tacos for appetizers. It was so fresh and kicking' with all kinds of flavors. I wish I had ordered another one. The avocado sauce layered on the bottom was just enough to keep wanting more. For lunch I ordered the Carneasada Fajitas with chimichurri and my husband ordered the Carneasada Taqueria. With my fajitas came a side of frijoles, green rice & flour tortillas. Corn flour was the other option. Both meals came in pipin' hot & the smell coming from both was very aromatic, zesty & spice. Amazing taste, flavors, just the right amount of marinade on the Carneasada with a hint of lime. It was so delicious while enjoying the ambiance. Our server was a delight and took very good care of us. We didn't order any of their alcoholic beverages since we were both working, but definitely we will be back to enjoy more food and try out their beverages.

So we were thinking of tacos or Mexican food and my daughter suggested this spot as she had come here with some friends and really enjoyed their sopecitos. I had never had a sopecito! What is that! So we had to try... We were lucky to arrive at the right time (9 pm!) where we got their last table!! Make reservations or something because this is another one of those places that fills up! So- we were taken care of immediately: chips and some very hot salsas were set on the table while we chose. They menu is in QR code format, but we asked and got paper menus as well. Well I got the chicken sopecitos , my daughter got the pork ones and my partner got the meat tacos. Everything was delicious, the food arrived promptly, the portion size was perfect and bountiful and everything was super enjoyable. I really enjoyed trying some New Mexican favorites. I've only been once and it's definitely not gonna be the last time. In fact, we've got an upcoming reservation that's been on the books for quite sometime. They've managed to remain delicious, relevant and in demand 50 years! That's saying something. I'll tell you what that says...it says they rule! Reservations can be tricky to get but oh so worth it. The bar & atrium are fantastic and they boast a generous happy hour. The restaurant area and entire space are decorated wonderfully. Amazing artwork adorns the walls, they've got extensive art all about, vaulted ceilings and more. It's kind of like being in a hacienda. It feels like you're in Mexico. Truly. The restaurant and food are upscale without being pretentious. How refreshing! Speaking of refreshing...they've got cocktails and mocktails that will knock your socks off. I'm a big fan of the Nojito. My boyfriend loves the Mexican martini (it's primo). Let's talk about food. Wow-wee is it everything and then some. This is the kind of Tex-Mex flavor that sends your tastebuds into a tailspin of goodness! On our visit we did a salsa flight (we did 3 salsas), the queso (melted muenster and Oaxacan), Wagyu beef tacos, and chicken verde enchiladas. We did a spread like that in order to share everything. Food so good I'd give ten stars if I could. I can't put my finger on it but there's just something so special about the food, the taste of it, and the quality. It's just incredible flavor explosion bite after bite. If I had to guess, I'd say the food has been made with love, skill, and attention to detail all these years. Hence, their amazing reputation.
