Le Cadran Solaire is a charming centuries-old stone house with a wrought iron gate and pleasant garden, which is what I imagined a French country home would be. The interior is tastefully decorated in French provincial style. Our family room (two comfortable bedrooms connected with a bath) was spacious. Breakfast is continental, which means pastries and fruit. You have the choice of having breakfast at the inn (in the dining room or in the garden) or going elsewhere if you wish to partake of a heavier breakfast. The husband and wife who run the inn are amiable, helpful and friendly to customers. Because there is not a lot of places to dine at in Graveson, we would go to nearby St. Rhemy for dinner or eat at whatever Provencal village we happened to be touring that day. By the way, another plus for this inn is that it is air-conditioned, which is a boon during hot summer months.

The Thames met all our needs. It was clean, comfortable, had spacious rooms, and Philippe proved to be invaluable and a wealth of knowledge re: Avignon and the surrounding area. Philippe really went above and beyond with his assistance. He was patient, kind, informative, and a joy to chat with. Back to the hotel....As it was situated adjacent to the train station, at first we worried about the noise level. Amazingly enough, you don't hear the trains at all! A big plus was that it was situated right outside the walls of Avignon. It was refreshing to be able to end our day on a peaceful note, removed from the hustle and bustle of the tourist crowds inside the walls of Avignon. We were so impressed with the room, Philippe, and Avignon, that we changed our travel plans and decided to use Avignon and the Thames Residence as our base while traveling through Provence. Philippe assisted us every step of the way as we rented a car and ventured out using Philippe's recommendations as our guide. It was perfect! The room was perfect as well. We were able to close off our bedroom area with the pocket doors & our 16 year old was thrilled he had his own space including a separate T.V. We loved the fact that there was a kitchen area and we could get our coffee in the room in the morning before breakfast. Breakfast was spent almost daily at Le Carré de Blé, (another recommendation from Philippe) as we were addicted to their wonderful breakfast pastries, quiche, etc. The best meal we had while in France was without a doubt at L'Essentiel, in Avignon, also recommended by Philippe, bien sur! I think the best part of this stay was the safety factor we felt at the hotel. We loved the fact that when our son didn't want to join us for dinner, we had no qualms granting his request and leaving him to enjoy the room himself. One evening, we had a delicious French meal and bought him a Domino's pizza on the way home. Perfect room, perfect location, fabulous restaurants through out Avignon, great shopping and sights, and the best guide ever in Philippe. This is a rental house - 3 Bedrooms + Attached Unit, 3 Baths (Sleeps 6-7), with a pool, on a huge estate that is on cliffs over a beautiful valley. It is heaven on earth! It will be nearly impossible to relate just how magical, special, romantic, and stunning La Cote Sud was. In fact, it was life changing. Bernard and Mathilde are consummate professionals, offering some of the most well appointed, clean, and stunning accommodations I have ever seen - and I'm a hotelier by trade! Bernard speaks English quite well, and they are completely ready to help with all sorts of advice, recommendations, and more. They respect your privacy, and are never intrusive, but always available and willing to talk. What's more, the land and location of Buoux is intoxicating - the lavender fields, the truffle oaks, the cliff edges and massif valley is a sight to behold - something that grabs onto you and never lets go. It felt like a mini Yosemite to me, and adventuring up and down the cliff faces was a joyous surprise. Hiking, Horses, and stunning views, the land was paradise. The century old Fort de Buoux was as impressive as it was mystifying... the Buoux Luberon truly compelled us, and it will be a place we will visit for the rest of our lives. It is remote, so that you feel like you are in a different world, and a different time. But it is also incredibly near the best of Provence, such as Lourmarin, and Bonnieux. From Farmer's Markets, shopping, wine, and incredible restaurants - it's a perfect location as your home base, with just a little bit of driving (15 minutes, give or take) to get around. For more options, the village of Apt is no more than 20 minutes. The kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom are immaculate, and the house was perfect for our purposes, in every way! I am a bit tall (6'6" / 2M ) and hit my head if I wasn't aware... but it's not that bad and only in one or two spots. The king size bed was a must for me, and we slept wonderfully! I will run out of space before finishing my kind words, but I must say thank you to Bernard and Mathilde! THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU DO! We will be back, and miss your estate terribly! What's more - any guests will do themselves a disservice if you leave without some of Bernard & Mathilde's Truffles! They are quite affordable, and incredibly delicious! Thank you again!

I've slept in hundreds of hotels since my stay here and it stays at the top of my list. My husband and I still talk about this place regularly and how much we'd love to go back. The rooms were beautifully appointed (and smelled so good!) and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The hosts were very welcoming, food was delicious and the house is absolutely beautiful. As a result, we visited not just the tourist spots like Pont du Gard, but wonderfully surprising small towns such as Gordes and Uzes and small wineries and restaurants in between. They loaned us lots of things and were very gracious. It was like visiting with your favorite Aunt and Uncle, but without the family obligation or drama. Plus it was helpful getting such detailed advice without the stress of having to translate it from French. As for the B&B itself, it's a lovely place situated a short walk from town, so it's quieter than being in the center of town but with the convenience of being able to walk to the wonderful market or cute shops/restaurants. The street was difficult to find by car without a map or GPS, and we didn't travel the way the website assumed we would. But once we ended up there, we were enchanted by the lovely terrace, sitting areas and lovely pool. The bedrooms were plenty big and the beds were comfortable. It would have been nice to have a door on the shower, but it was fine. There is a small water canal behind the property so there's always a sound of running water which is nice if you keep the windows open, however then you are subject to hearing cars pass on the short shared driveway which is only an issue if you're a very light sleeper. The breakfasts were as good as french continental breakfasts get. Nice muesli, yogurt, fresh delicious! croissants every day with a wonderful selection of spreads (delicious homemade preserves and local honeys), coffee/tea or juice. I don't think many places in France do eggs/hot breakfasts unfortunately, otherwise I'd drop a star. We very much enjoyed Saint Remy and our stay at Mas de Tourterelles and I'll add that October was a very nice time to go.

We stayed for 4 nights but we would have loved to stay for more. Will definitely return here again!
