The Hotel Pont Royal was a great pick for a Parisian hotel as it's about a 10-minute walk down the Rue de Bac down to the Louvre. The Saint Germain area itself is clean, safe, and lively and full of charming cafes. My wife joked that the hotel hallway smells like grandmas house, but I didn't mind. The room was clean and came with a nice mini balcony to enjoy that morning cup of coffee with a nice view. Staff was friendly and spoke English, and free umbrellas were provided (two of which I left behind in various parts of the city... sorry!). Downstairs bar looked nice as well. They offer breakfast, but honestly, with amazing cafes and bakeries in the neighborhood, your better off exploring. The place is a little older, so bring a voltage converter as they didn't have any USB outlets like more modern places do. read more

The accommodations were top notch including the room service, breakfast, comfort and hospitality. I wanted to give special recognition to the bartenders in the lounge bar. They were extremely professional and poured outstanding drinks. Their names were Andrew and Enzo. read more

We had a fantastic stay. The location was perfect, we loved the neighborhood and we're close to every g we wanted to do. The hotel was clean, kept well, and classy. There was talk of bed bugs in Paris but we did not find a single one. I chose Paris for to celebrate my milestone birthday and I asked special friends of mine to share in my celebration. It was my first time in Paris & what a magical experience it was. We spent 5 days & 5 nights from December 1-December 5 2022 at the lovely Hotel Pont Royal which was walking distance from everything! There was a fabulous market directly across the street, along with fabulous restaurants & cafes within walking distance. From the moment we arrived to when we departed we were treated as if we were their only guests.  The beautiful Assunta greeted us so warm and courteous on arrival day and when we asked to check in early she immediately accommodated us. Our room had a beautiful balcony with a gorgeous view of the Eiffel Tower as we requested. Our bed was so plush & comfortable and our bathroom was huge!!! Because my fabulous roomie & I are kindred spirits when it comes to packing lol we could've stored some of our suitcases in our huge bathroom! Our room also included a sweet & warm Birthday welcome from my travel team & travel agent I worked with, Cheryl & the Explorateur team. Thank you so much On arrival day we left for a bit and came back to find my room decorated with floating balloons and wine and chocolates on our desk. What a sweet surprise!!! Thank you Virgile Gueguen, Guest Relation Manager, and Assunta We were also given a GC for 2 free cocktails during the Pont Royal Jazz Session, compliments of Frederic Legallois, General Manager. Thank you so much!!!! Hugs to the sweet & courteous Sudesh who greeted us for breakfast every morning, and had the same amazing smile on his face throughout our entire stay. This started as one of the worst experiences of my life at any hotel in Paris, and I've traveled here many times. The website is totally deceiving. The lobby has water jugs with paper cups. The front desk staff were completely incompetent and rude, a strange shock in a supposed 5 star hotel. For example, after traveling all day, we were told that we would not be allowed to check in before 3PM. When 3PM rolled around we were told there was a housekeeping mishap and that our room still wasn't ready. we spent half the day waiting in the lobby and we met with looks of annoyance from the hotel staff. Keep in mind our room was guaranteed at 3PM, and there was no apology or attempt to make up for this mishap. When we finally got up to the room, it was dirty and run down (as though it had barely been cleaned), much like the lobby and the rest of the hotel. We complained about the room and a staff member came and took pictures. The 3 stars in my review comes because at this point they appeared to at least try to turn it around. They moved us to a different room (a junior suite, an upgrade) and appeared sincere in their apologies. The new room was clean and neat, but unfortunately run down and slightly dated-- no one's fault, but this hotel is in need of some updating. Until then I'm not sure it can fairly be rated 5 stars. read more

Lovely lovely place! Would recommend to anyone to come and stay here. The rooms are very nice. Comfortable bed, roomy bathroom, everything clean - and well taken care of. Our room over-looks Rue de Bac- and allows a wonderful view when opening the window. You are in the center of Paris- so close to the Seine, Museum d' Orsay, the metro and some really fabulous restaurants. (A very beautiful - and old- church is literally right around the corner behind us- St Thomas. The chapel behind the alter is not to be missed.) They have an "American breakfast". Which is great to start your day out well. If scrambled eggs, French style ( wetter than American) they also will make eggs your way. I loved the eggs- as well as the cheese, croissants, yogurt, etc. The concierge that worked with us over the weekend was fantastic. Just such a wonderful gentleman. Helpful and so very friendly. Everyone at the hotel made us feel welcome and not so out of our element bc we don't speak French. Many fine stores around us are closed- as we are here in August... and many are on holiday. However, most we found are home furnishing.. something we weren't interested in. But on St Germaine des Pres- the shops and cafes are awesome... just a great neighborhood to stay in. Joel Rubechon's Restaurant is next door- ( he just passed early August) we haven't gone, but are here for some time...so maybe before we leave. read more

I've stayed at the hotel many times over the years, the last time in 2017. Unfortunately this will be my last stay. The rooms have never been updated. I paid for an Eiffel Tower view and while they were happy to charge for it, they neglected to let me know that the view is completely obstructed by scaffolding and plastic (which flapped all night). My husband and I had a great time at the Hotel Pont Royal. The room was clean and had a super cute balcony with a partial view of the Eiffel Tower! We liked that the room and hotel lobby felt modern. We did not realize upon booking, but our tour guide told us we made an excellent choice in hotels because Hemingway use to stay there! We walked EVERYWHERE...the hotel was close to metro lines and walking distance to museums, churches, and other sights. Another thing I really appreciated - it was super quiet at night. :) There is one reason that I am not giving them 5 stars. The breakfast. If you don't eat pork there are limited options. The breakfast buffet had a pretty set up and maybe it is normal for European standards, but it was definitely lacking for my American standards. All in all, I would totally recommend this hotel to friends who are thinking of visiting Paris. read more

The saving grace of my trip to Paris was this wonderful hotel. The staff speak English and are all very courteous and polite. Here are a few incidences of how the Pont Royal was worth every penny! The beds are comfortable and when I was very tired after a day of sightseeing, it provided much needed R&R. Rooms are serviced twice daily meaning you always have a fresh supply of shampoos and lotions. I asked for hot water on one occasion and while I was only expecting room service to bring me one cup of hot water, I was pleasantly surprised when they knocked on the door just a few minutes later with a whole tray, two porcelain cups and a tea pot full of hot water. Talk about service! We didn't have an adaptor to charge my curling iron (iPhone charger plugs seem to work in most countries) but the front desk was more than happy to let me borrow one with no hassle no charge. I didn't make a reservation and wanted to eat at the famous michelin star restaurant adjacent to the hotel and the concierge was able to work his magic and make a reservation for us. I got a blister from walking in my heels and they were able to provide me with some band aids. Overall, everyone was so super nice and the hotel experience was superb! Highly recommend for a romantic stay in Paris. read more

We stayed here in August for our honeymoon and we really enjoyed our stay. Albeit the rooms are tiny in Paris, we enjoyed our upgraded top floor room with a mini balcony that had a view of the Eiffel Tower. The hotel was also thoughtful enough to add a nice treat and special arrangement for us when we first arrived to our room. The staff were pleasant to work with. They greeted us every time we walked in and out of the hotel. Room service seemed like they came twice a day. They offered us something to drink early in the morning while we waited for our airport transfer, and they gave us recommendations, directions and called a taxi for us. The location is great and convenient to many museums, cafes, and the metro station. There is a nice supermarket right across the street and that came in handy when we didn't want to pay 4.5-5Euros for bottled water. Joel Robuchon restaurant is attached to the hotel so if you want to be fancy in Paris, you just have to go downstairs from your room. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel and would go back myself. read more

The Pont Royal is a well located Hotel on the Left Bank of the river in Paris. The rooms are clean and the staff are great. The standard rooms are small but very nice and most have a nice view. The buffet breakfast they offer is very good. I booked it thru my travel agent Cheryll at All Cruise Travel. They got the brekkie thrown in for no extra costs, nice savings of 50€. The free Wi-Fi is on the slow side but it got by. If you want to pay for an upgrade to faster wi-fi you can for a fee. There are a lot of nice cafes in the area and a small market across the street. In addition there is a restaurant downstairs on the 1st floor of the hotel. read more

We just returned from four nights at the Hotel Pont Royal, where we had a suite on the top floor overlooking the Eiffel Tower. It was magnificent. The hotel knew in advance we were traveling with our daughter and, since we were there overXmas, the staff had already purchased and set up a fully decorated 5' Christmas tree, complete with lights and ornaments upon our arrival. Now THAT'S customer service! I cannot say enough about the staff or the location. Both are beyond compare. As to the former, they are attentive to every need, and always ready to greet you with a smile. But they go beyond - they anticipate what you may want or need. Besides the above example, weeks before our arrival, the concierge contacted me regarding dinner or other reservations we may wish to secure, since we would be visiting over the holiday. That's customer service and beyond. The location is in the center and within walking distance of everything you'll want to visit...the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Arc d'Triomphe, Notre Dame, etc. The rooms are very nice and comfortable by European standards. Even the suites are not gigantic. But overall very nice. The hotel is not inexpensive, and the extras like drinks in the bar, room service or other extras are extremely expensive. The hotel is certainly worth it and I'll be going back. I suspect if you try it you will too. read more

I stayed at this hotel three times in the past and really loved it. We returned this past May and discovered it had completely changed. It was bought by a hotel group and the experience was awful. After talking with some of the staff, we discovered they let a lot of their employees go so the hotel is way understaffed. We would come back to the hotel after midnight on many nights and no one would be in the lobby. It was shocking. We could go up in the elevator without any one knowing. The breakfast is fair, at best. Do not stay here. There are so many lovely, family owned hotels on the left bank. read more

I haven't stayed at the hotel as of yet but am scheduled to mid june 2018. But I can say with the utmost of honesty that I have never received such amazing customer service before a stay. Alina has been in contact with me via email to help me fix a situation in regards to travel dates getting messed up and has gone beyond her duty to help me remedy. If the hotel is 1/10th as nice as their customer service then I know our stay will be fabulous! Cons: Bed is hard and uncomfortable, in room security safe is too small for a laptop (its the size of a shoebox), views not so great from balcony, balcony too small for sitting on, free Wi-Fi is super slow, expensive cost per night. read more

I generally do not write bad reviews on the web, but in the case of this Hotel I have no other choice. I booked a second Honeymoon through Orbitz (who has done everything in their power to help) to stay at this highly recommended Hotel. Then Covid hit and things were closed down. At that point I tried to get a refund but was told that it was a non-refundable reservation and they would give me a voucher good till June 2021. At that point I was not happy but between them and American Airlines it would have been ok. Then sadly my mom passed due to Covid and things got financially tough. My wife and I decided that we would not be going to Paris anytime soon and certainly not by June 2021. I contacted American Airlines and explained the situation and sent them Death Certificate and they immediately turned my air voucher into a refund. I again went to Orbitz with same documentation and they contacted the Hotel again for me and once again they decided that no refund would be given. I honestly do not understand this attitude in the middle of a world wide health crisis. I truly believe that this hotel has not one ounce of sympathy for what is going on and they are sticking truly to the letter of their procedures. At the very least they should look at each case on a case by case basis and not be so inhumane. If I ever and I mean ever do go to Paris I do not care how good this place is I would rather stay somewhere else. read more

Came to Paris for the first time with high expectations. This hotel was a let down. NOT a five star hotel. Outdated, well worn. Our room had a wet rug upon entering. Further inspection noted the hallway rug was soaked as well with water stains on the hallway walls and water drops present at the wall - ceiling junction. This was not a new problem judging by the stains present. The kind staff at the front desk (for the 2 stars), through no fault of their own, was helpless in addressing the problem. Absolutely no other rooms available and no way to remediate the issue we were told. Would go to another hotel but everything seems to be booked up and really don't have a clue as to where to go. It is late and we are stuck here for the night. We are told they will change our room in the morning. ...If we aren't ill from mold! To be continued... read more

They lost our bags immediately. We were welcomed up to our rooms and were told to leave it in the lobby and it would be brought up and after an hour we called the front desk and they brought up someone else's bags! So they didn't even know they were missing! Then after a few hours they were located OUTSIDE the hotel and had been taken by a driver to someone's residence. Then at breakfast dishes would be left empty and you had to ask for it to be refilled or they wouldn't even notice. Also they were out of FLOUR. I asked for pancakes and they said they were out and would be out the next day as well. There is a supermarket within 300 ft of the front doors. So that's inexcusable for a "four" star hotel to not have flour and not resupply it. They did give us a bottle of champagne for losing our luggage but it should have never happened in the first place at such an establishment. When I visit Paris again I will not be staying here. read more

Very disappointed, this is not a 4 or 5 star hotel. The floors and rooms have a mildew smell, the place is in desperate need of a cleaning and renovation. Housekeeping was terrible, they gave us stained towels and did not replace simple items like tissues and toilet paper. The AC and heat did not work well. There is no sound insulation, you could hear everything outside. The wifi was slow and unstable. Also, the included breakfast was inedible. The Hotel Pont Royal was a major disappointment. They weren't even competent enough to get us a taxi to take us to the airport. We had to walk 2 blocks with all of our luggage in tow. Never again! Plenty of better options to stay in Paris. read more

Winner. The bad reviews are simply outdated. I stayed for as week and enjoyed my experience very much. The staff greeted me every time i walked past and were always up to help or for a chat. The bar was friendly and inviting. The rooms are small-ish, but this is Paris and to be expected. I loved my 7th floor balcony view and found the accommodations generally lovely. The restaurant downstairs is a Joel Robuchon so room service is not really a thing. But there is a grocery literally across the street and the restaurants of Paris at your doorstep. Also, I caught a stomach bug while there and the staff sent up plain rice (from the 5star restaurant, free of charge). Highly recommend. read more

Views of the eiffel tower from your room, comfortable beds/chairs and excellent service makes it hard to beat. Front desk/Concierge all very friendly and helpful. About the only negative thing i can think of, which is very minor, was the buffet breakfast (which was included in the rate) ran out of items as we were on the later side. The Hotel Pont Royal is the worst. Somehow it's 5 star but I've stayed in much better 3 and 4 star places. The only thing 5 star about this place is the prices. The rooms are the smallest I've ever seen. They tried to rip me off with upgrades. It worked the first night where they got me for 60 euros extra for basically the exact same room. The next night they got greedy and demanded +160 extra for that room. I couldn't take it anymore so I moved back to the standard room. Pretty much exactly the same and I save 160. I have no problem spending money, but I'd like to see some value. Their upgrades are a complete Ponzi! I felt like I was getting street hustled by the staff inside this hotel. Horrible experience both with service as well as the actual accommodation. Their "king sized bed" is really just two singles pushed together that barely equal a queen. You feel the division line in the middle of the bed and you also feel it In your back in the morning. I went to the Hotel Castille from there, and even though it's a little more expensive, at least you get what you're paying for. Much better place. Stay away from Pont Royal. read more
