Room had no USB outlets, no iron, no night light, small bathroom with some mold in shower. Top of bathroom door broken. No privacy door tag to keep maid away or for privacy. I purchased 2 boxes of candy in Belgium and placed them in our room closet. Packing Sunday morning one box was missing, so outrageous! I've never had anything stolen from a hotel room in my life! Breakfast was an extra fee which I don't mind, however it was not good. Terrible coffee served and all the breads were days old. I do not recommend this hotel!

There is a small bar in the den which works on the honor system. Complimentary coffee and tea is what I really enjoyed. Every morning I would walk to the bakery next door grab a croissant and enjoy a cup a coffee in the den area as I planned out my day. The rooms are small but very clean, They are average size for Paris. If you are traveling with luggage there is a French lift (small lift) that takes up to your rooms if need be. You are in walking distance from metro lines 1 & 8 , place de Vosges and many more museums. The staff is wonderful , the place is is quiet and very clean, I thought it was perfect for our needs. We were on our honeymoon and we stayed for an entire week in this hotel and there were great things about it, some good things about it, and some bad things about it. Great things first: 1) They are indeed across the street from Vandermeersch, a boulangerie known for their kugelhopf (not very French you say? I said that too, actually, while stuffing my face with delicious gooey, sugary, stretchy, ball of heavenly delight... not on the street in public though. I have manners). 2) The Port Doree metro stop is RIGHT OUTSIDE the hotel. Seriously awesome for not having to walk a block or two for a metro stop. 3) The person at the desk always spoke English, if that is important to some of you, especially if you didn't plan your trip that well and have no idea what to do. 4) The park across the street (Bois de Vincennes) is amazing to jog around and chillax in (but if you had the choice of spending a day here, or in front of the Eiffel Tower, which would you choose?) and is really huge and is reminiscent of Central Park, but with less people. Good things: 1) The room, though dormlike, and the smallest of all the rooms we stayed in Europe (We went to Paris, San Sebastian, Barcelona), had a double bed, a tv, internet on the second floor if you didn't bring your own computer, your own bathroom with shower, a closet. The ice machine exists, just in the basement of the hotel, where the soda machine is. Wish they had a fridge in all the rooms to keep some of the delicious things we bought more fresh while we were staying there. Bad: These things aren't entirely the fault of the hotel. 1) It's hella far from the city. This might be okay for those who have already been to Paris before and are okay staying away from the tourists and the sightseeing places but if you are there for the first time and you have to take the metro into the heart of the city every day, it takes a good twenty - forty minutes, depending on where you want to go. The worst thing is coming back home, changing, and wanting to go out again. There were many times we wanted to go out and experience the nightlife but the thought of having to come back home first to shower, change, and go out again on the metro wasn't enticing enough, especially knowing that the metro stops running at midnight. We had to weigh whether or not it was worth taking a cab back home, which would cost us anywhere from 18-30 dollars, depending on where we were. 2) A family of 2 or 3 children were staying upstairs or next to us (unsure of where exactly as we only had the shrill sound of muffled kids screaming, waking us up at the crack ass of dawn to judge their location) for a couple of days. Those rooms are not sound proof, let's just say that. Obviously, this just depends on who stays on your floor when you're there and it's hard to control maniacally screaming kids in any hotel so that's not really their fault but anyway, just know the rooms are not sound proof. 3) Lastly, if you want to eat dinner after 10pm in this area, good luck. The only place that serves dinner that late is Au Metro, and their food is not the best (although apparently their mussels are okay). The takeaway: Good place to stay because it's affordable and if it's not your first time in Paris and you want to avoid all the claustrophobic tourist spots, this might be your spot, especially if you don't mind taking the metro in and out of the city, or you don't have an aggressive or packed schedule where you have to return to your hotel to get something or to change, etc. If you're on your honeymoon, or it's your first time in Paris and you want to see all the sights and you still want to enjoy your nights out on the town and be relatively close so you can come home to relax before going out again, this is not your spot.

(My last hotel in 1st Arrondissement, which I LOVED 100x better, gave me a DOUBLE upgrade and breakfast daily for FREE!!) I arrived at 9:30 a.m. & they assisted me with my bags from my Uber. They said my room (31) wasn't ready, yet I called the night before, and the gal said on the phone that I could probably get the room immediately as the room was empty that night. They looked away and said they had a last-minute person come in for the room. I HIGHLY doubt that. I left for a cooking class in the morning. (Read my review for Le Foodist... incredibly great!) I returned afterward, and two younger guys were at the front desk. They told me the cost of breakfast. No worries, I'm not interested. They gave me my room number (31) & key. I went to the 3rd floor. The room had an OVERPOWERING perfume smell, triggering my asthma. I opened the windows, but the smell remained. I looked around the room for the source of my asthma trigger and spotted a diffuser on the desk. I smelled it. YEP! That was the source of that smell. Awful! I had to be on my inhaler for a few days. The room was average, although the view of the Pantheon was pretty cool. The bed was VERY poorly made, AND there was NO top sheet. You are covering yourself with the comforter that their last guest did. So gross!! My door deadbolt wasn't working. I went downstairs, and G (male employee) saw it in my room. He couldn't get it to work properly either, then he did. Finally, I pushed hard on the door. So, as far as he was concerned, there was no complaint, and he asked if we were good. He left, and I still could not get it to work. I went downstairs and was told by the other male employee. He came to my room with me. He said he would need to get maintenance. They were gone already and would be the next day. Maintenance came & he filed the door jam, but the lock mechanism was still the issue itself, per their maintenance guy. I had to shove the door with my shoulder and then turn the lock hard to get it to work. The good was the shower was new, clean, and nice. Even in the shower, the showerhead was not grimy. (My last hotel only complaint was a grimy showerhead.) I left the hotel for an evening cooking class and returned at 10:30 p.m. The front doors were LOCKED. On my 1st night, I was locked out of the building. I knocked on the doors and saw no one at the front desk. Nuts! What am I gonna do now? I searched & found what appeared to be a buzzer on one of the side walls. It was unmarked. I buzzed it 2x. Finally, the guy came in. It was partly my fault, partly theirs. When I left, I did not leave my key with the front desk, so they thought I was in the building. But in fairness, I have never been to a hotel that locked their doors or how to get the attention of their overnight staff. Okay, I learned quickly to leave my key. No more issues. The manager (lady) was friendly & wanted to discuss the emailed complaints I made about the hotel based on a survey I received during the stay. I was rushing to get places, so I would have instead discussed it without cutting into my vacation. I did bring up the issues, but no actual resolution was formed. The hotel security device I purchased on Amazon for the hotel door did NOTt work well. There was too large of a gap between the door and the framework. Frustrating, as it worked beautifully in my first hotel. Yes, the location was incredible: Pantheon in the front, the Eiffel Tower to the left in the distance, and "Emily's" apartment was on the block behind me. So, I have NOTHING to complain about. It's a beautiful area of the Latin Quarter. And close to the 6th. I loved that about this hotel. (Noisy into the night with the college kids outside, tho.) Would I stay here again or recommend it? If you love that location, I guess consider it, but bring it up & get in writing what they will do if security issues arise. See if they will also not charge you for other things, too. (My travel time was low, but I left just before the World Cup Rugby visitors arrived.) My Facebook friends got my rant LIVE when I first entered the room, but I have calmed down. Also, if you are asthmatic, ask them to get that diffuser OUT of your room to clear it! I loved Alexandra at the front desk, and the two guys ended up being very friendly, but I am also quite nice, and I did not want to ruin my vacation by having a negative feeling around anyone. I let it go. My guess is that they just had NO clue how to properly handle my situation, which is on HGH, their hotel group. 1 star for staff friendliness, 1 for location, 1 for a clean shower. 2 stars LOST for the room lock & the bed without a TOP sheet. Since I would be staying here on a Saturday night, I figured it would be a good option if I didn't want to find a bar or seek out nightlife. It was perfect. The check-in takes place in the bar/lobby and the hotel staff were personable and warm. The rooms are tiny but have personality and a unique touch. I did try to play a record on the record player next to my bed but it didn't it quite work (bummer!). I loved that they have Le Labo (Santal 33) for the products- it's one of my favorite scents and the towels were huge and soft. Location is near lots of bars both on the same street and in the surrounding area--Les Justes and Dirty Dick are good for cocktail bars. The lobby has a nice vibe at night with the DJ and overall crowd and as I was leaving :-( Sunday afternoon there was a band coming to play so I imagine they rotate musicians throughout the week. Overall, fun stay in a great neighborhood. Highly recommend!

First, there isn't even a lobby with a reception area. There's a communal dining table with a staff member and a laptop who checks you in. I completely didn't even realize they were staff because they blended in with the other patrons who were using the dining table. I had room 31 which is fine for a solo traveler, but definitely not for a couple. It's small and inconveniently designed. There's no door from the sleeping area to the shower and sink. The toilet is a separate, closed off area, away from the sink which I would find awkward if I was sharing with a partner or a friend.The lobby also hosts a club and many DJ's so it tends to get quite loud and packed at night. There are also plenty of clubs on the same street that I could hear at night when I'm trying to sleep. It wasn't really an issue for me because I can sleep through anything, but I can see how that would be a problem for other guests.

Charles actually directed me to one of the best dinners I've had in quite awhile: Le Colvert just down the block. Also, even prior to our arrival, the hotel management reached out with a questionnaire via e-mail to see if we needed any recommendations in the neighborhood, which they swiftly provided. It was a nice touch. We were pleasantly surprised with how wonderful breakfast was as well. We opted for the Formule Complete which was fresh and delicious, and service was great too. All the amenities you would expect from a hotel, but with the intimate charm that comes with a boutique hotel. I don't think I'll ever go back to a large chain hotel when traveling. The "lobby" is like a small living room with a record player and vinyl records and there is always a pitcher of water with citrus fruit in it; the colors and decoration are evocative of the 1960s; they do have music playing and it's all the great songs and rock groups from the 1960s. Breakfast is a buffet and acceptable. I didn't see any of the rooms in the main part of the hotel (which has an elevator). The draw here is service, location, and a wonderful level of nostalgia.
