We tried several doctors before going to Dr. Sukhdeo. We got a small procedure (surgery) done too. His care is at an entirely different level. He listens to the patients (and their spouse), understands the anxieties and explains things in layman's terms, and has excellent bedside manners. Additionally, he is never in a hurry and gives you his full attention and focus through the entire duration of the appointment. He also gave us advice on a personal note, not just as a surgeon (and clearly mentioned that it was his personal opinion), which we really appreciate. I have been a patient of Dr. Sukhdeo for over two years, and cannot recommend him highly enough. He has been my obgyn through a surgery and a pregnancy. As many other reviewers have already noted, he is a warm and compassionate person. My pregnancy was high risk, and I was nervous all through it. Dr. Sukhdeo saw me through my pregnancy as I hoped to have a VBAC birth. He was very comfortable with it and knowledgeable, which is amazingly rare. I didn't feel like we had much of a relationship until the last month when the visits ramped up in frequency, which was a shame. Also, the admins at this PAMF location are awful. Every time I had paperwork for them to fill out or send me, they messed up. They also weren't on top of my appointments, and for awhile I had no appointments scheduled, and I was the one that had to realize that, oh yeah, I probably should have seen him again by now. If you are trying for a VBAC, definitely see Sukhdeo. I do hope they fix their administrative issues. read more

I'm not gonna lie - I was a bit skeptical about seeing a male ObGyn. But from my initial visit Dr. Sukhdeo assuaged 100% of my concerns. He reminds me of a kind teddy bear - can I say that? In all seriousness, he's helped me deal with a very difficult, chronic endometriosis condition over the last few years. He is extremely knowledgeable and thorough in his treatment plan. He always listens to my issues and answers all my questions so that I feel as empowered as possible. Most of all, I really appreciate his positive, upbeat demeanor. God complex? Thanks to all the reviews here about Dr. Sukhdeo and Los Altos Clinic! I started going to this clinic which is a wonderful place and I had my first couple of meetings with Dr. Sukhdeo. He is very kind, friendly, and compassionate. I really don't feel like there is a male vs. female difference in his presence. He is a good listener and very understanding doctor. I also like the fact that he greets my husband each time and keeps him engaged in the process by explaining all the screen shots and answering all of questions. He is also quite realistic. When he sees something risky, he doesn't hide. I always leave with peace of mind and empowerment from his office. Finally, I don't know what the below comment all about, but this facility is very nice and clean. The lab is right there and receptionists always are kind and welcoming. At first, I wasnt quite sure about Dr. Sukhdeo. I started seeing him after the doctor I was originally referred to left the medical group. I figured I would just try Dr. Sukhdeo and if I didnt like him, I would jump ship! Dr. Sukhdeo is great. He listens to you and doesn't minimize any questions or concerns you have at any time. I saw Dr. Sukhdeo for my infertility (both times), both pregnancies (not easy pregnancies, either!) and my hysterectomy. To say the least, I have run the complete OB/GYN spectrum with him.. I completely respect, trust and wish that he could be duplicated! Dr. Shin is awesome too.. At the time I saw Dr. Sukhdeo, there were 2 OB's at the Los Altos PAMF, so I did see Dr. Shin on occasion. Initially we were apprehensive about male ob but once we visited him, we actually chose him at times over female Ob's (though they were equally good at Los Altos). I guess the main reason was because Dr Sukhdeo gave the feeling that he had abundant time and we never felt rushed. He is a warm, gentle and understanding doctor. I was also very reluctant to see a male OBGYN. I visited his office when pregnant with my daughter, and was at instant ease with him. He has just the right demeanor, very professional, kind, knowledgeable and a GREAT listener. Someone else mentioned that he never feels rushed, or as though he needs to hurry and get to the next patient... so very true. There is nothing more important than you when you are with him. I am almost disappointed now, when I can't get on his calendar and meet with others (the others are GREAT as well). In sum, he doesn't have that sterile Doctor feel to him. I started seeing Dr. Sukhdeo from the very beginning of my pregnancy (I was randomly assigned to him but I decided to stay with him right after the first appointment). He is attentive, humorous, patient, and knowledgable. He always addresses my concerns and makes me feel comfortable of asking questions. He also calls back if any testing result has issues. I delivered my first baby in June 2017, Dr. Sukhdeo was my OB for all of my prenatal care, and was there the day I was induced. It wasn't his day at the hospital when my son was born, but he left me in great hands and I am seeing him again for this pregnancy. Dr. Sukdheo delivered my daughter 14 years ago and he took great care of her prenatally and me. I've had 2 surgeries with him over those years and each time, the surgery was perfect as a surgery gets. I had virtually no issues after the surgery each time. Dr. Sukhdeo was the PAMF OB on call when I was re-admitted to the maternity unit through the ER for postpartum pre-eclampsia. I greatly appreciated his professional, friendly and calm demeanor, accurate expectation management in terms of admission timeline and treatment, his focus and attention to detail. Dr. Sukhdeo has great patient rapport, and took the time to check on me in the ER, before being admitted, and once I was admitted, before treatment was administered. He also made sure treatment was clear to the nursing staff and that I was monitored closely. Although I was only under his care for less than 24h, I felt I was in great hands. 5* read more

I came to Dr Sukhdeo for robotic surgery and he was confident about robotic after the evaluation. Apparently he does not have enough experience and the surgery was not successful and caused other issues. After surgery, he ignores messages and keeps saying he is busy today and not working tomorrow. He did not listen to my medical history and does not willing to spend time to resolve issues after the surgery. I can understand from his business point of view for gain profit from surgery but this rating hope to help others. read more

I gave birth in 2014 although Dr. Sukhdeo was not on call that day to deliver my baby but he took great care of me during pregnancy and after pregnancy. He made sure I was comfortable and okay both mentally and physically. He made me felt less stressed throughout the whole pregnancy. He is a great doctor, very caring. I am seeing him and his group again for my second pregnancy. I hope this time around he is able to deliver my baby. If not, I know Dr. Shin will take great care of my delivery too. read more

I ADORE Dr. Sukhdeo. For both my babies, he's been outstanding. He's down to earth, practical, follows up very well, and incredibly empathetic. In addition, he's very experienced. I love that he shares his personal experiences, as it gives me the sense that he sees me as a person not a number/patient. I wouldn't have believed a male doctor could be so supportive & empathetic about "female" issues, but Dr. Sukhdeo is. From delivery to breastfeeding and more, I always feel that he's listening closely to my concerns and questions, and he provides a balanced, practical perspective. For instance, he called me the other day when my platelets were low, 2 weeks before my due date, with the bad news that if they don't go up, I can't get an epidural: "There are two schools of thought. Dr. Sukhdeo saved my life!!!!!!!!!! When i went for my first visit to him, he sort of scared away my boyfriend, with information that would have later turned out to be true.! who would have known. I guess thats Karma. I switched to the female doctor. I almost died giving birth to my daughter, and my water broke a week before i gave birth, but my doctor didnt believe me so when i was in the recovery room, i was dying. Dr. Sukhdeo came in and he knew everything to do. H Dr. Sukhdeo stayed with me the whole time i was recovering and made sure i was ok. He wasnt even my delivering doctor but he stayed to help me anyways. I did not see my doctor after that, until i was out of the hospital. I can not ever forget what he did for me. My daughter is 4 years old now, and if it wasnt for him i would be dead! I would love to have him deliver all my children, but i want women to know that if you are scared, he is the doctor to go too. read more

Regardless of all of the good reviews here, which I am really surprised to see, I had just a nightmare experience with this doctor during the delivery of my baby. I have never seen him before the delivery, so we couldn't find the connection. I felt pressured and not in ease at all. He was very pushy, inconsidering and made inappropriate rude remark to his helpers not knowing that my husband and I could hear it. That was a darkest night of my soul. This doctor almost killed me. During a routine surgery he punctured my intestine using a laser and kept discharging me after i went back to ER at Stanford displaying all the signs of post surgical infection. I had a high fever, my heart was racing,I could not stop throwing up, my abdominal pain was out of control and he kept discharging me saying I probably took too much pain medication. Even people without medical degree could diagnose me and he could not. I understand even doctors make mistakes but be responsible for your patient who shows up displaying life threatening symptoms after you cut them open. Thanks God that a surgeon from El Camino Hospital was very responsive on my fourth time of collapsing and asking the ambulance to take me to the closest hospital is the reason I am alive. Watch out. I settled out of court and Dr. Sukhdeo never got even a ding on his record. 10 years later I am a chronic pain patient and I am not sure that I am able to have children because of his mistake. I used to Adore him like all of you. But he is not as good as u all make him sound. So good luck to all his patients. I hope you are all still alive. read more

So far, so good. I was hesitant to go with a male doctor, but at least 3 people have recommended Dr. Sukhdeo to us. I am just starting my third trimester and we already feel that I am in great hands. I am a nurse, and I think it is pretty common for us to be the worst patients! He eases all of my fears, and answers all questions no matter how silly. I have never felt rushed, or brushed off by him at all. He has a great sense of humor, and I love that he involves my husband in our discussions by making eye contact with us both. I am hoping for a natural delivery, which he is very supportive of, but has also prepared me for what may be out of my control. He told me that I cannot beat myself up if in case he needs to intervene, which is his job in the first place. I hadn't thought of it that way, I think that I would have been hard on myself otherwise. We have hired a doula, which he says he is happy to work with as he has done many times in the past. I love admiring all of the photos his office has of him posing with tons of newborn babies. I have no doubt in my mind that if he is there to deliver my baby, (crossing fingers he will be on call!) Dr. Sukhdeo continues to be a wonderful doctor. One word that really sums him up is EMPOWERING. I have complicated pregnancies and while he always shares his concerns, he is optimistic and states how he hopes things will go. It is so important for a pregnant mom to be in a positive state of mind, and he really listens and advocates for you. The nurses at the hospital have all told me how they love Dr. Sukhdeo and many have used him as their doctor so that says something! read more

I had a terrible experience with this doctor. He missed the fact that my baby was breech (and likely had been for several weeks) and pressured me to use interventions to move the birth process along (and I did let him break my water) before he was finally tipped off by a nurse (as we understand it) about the breech positioning and did an ultrasound. I ended up in a c-section and complications ensued. The clinical mistakes were bad enough (and the 48 hours of unnecessary, painful labor), but it was his attitude that was the worst - he was rude and arrogant throughout the process and afterward when I wanted to talk to him about it. Definitely would not recommend him or his practice! Stay away! read more
