They showed up and due to personal circumstances, I didn't even remember telling them that. Trevor was great. He looked at what I wanted and had me a fair quote by that evening. He told me they would get me on the schedule for New Years Eve. The 3 guys got here early, made fast work of getting everything done, cleaned up after themselves and hauled everything away. This wasn't mentioned and caused delays. Be home during the install if possible--it's helpful to see how things are done and learn yard care tips. Ask for a brush-up service around 9-12 months after install. (Ours is still new, but we'll update once that happens.) Regret: We didn't upgrade to Cool Turf. It heats up just like the weather--something to consider if you live in a hot climate. Our Experience: We chose Big Tex Turf because they matched key items from another quote, had great reviews, and guaranteed completion before a big home event. We paid in full, so can't speak to financing. Our sales rep (Zach) started strong, but was hard to reach after booking. When weather delayed our install and left a large sand pile in the street (a safety and HOA issue), we couldn't get a hold of him--even the install team had trouble. I had to step in and offer a temporary tarp/cone solution myself. Tip: Texting a team member is more effective than calling. Calls go to the main office. Despite the sales rep gap, the installation team was excellent. They were efficient, professional, and finished the job in one day. Cleanup was great, and they came back as early as 7 AM to resolve post-install questions. 2-Year Follow-Up (as of 5/14/2025): Almost two years later, customer service remains solid. We've had a few normal turf issues and they've addressed every one quickly. The lawn still looks great--we're overall very happy. The only reason why I'm giving a two star is because the actual project itself was pretty good. The job consisted of removing and replacing the dead bushes as well as removing trees and adding new sod. Here's why I thought about giving 1 star. In the beginning the communication was great and the quote provided was quick. On the day of the job, one thing I noticed is they cut my palm tree at the base. I was baffled because I wanted removed. It was not mentioned to me there is a separate cost for removing the roots of it. Which confuses me because they removed the roots of the much smaller trees. I guess it was miscommunication or whatever but ended up having to spend additional money for it. Here's where it gets worse. I turned on the water sprinkler after they left and noticed a huge pile of water piling up. I was able to brush away the excess soil and noticed the pvc was cracked. They had to have cracked it because that is where one of the trees were removed. Called them up and they said would take care of it. No time frame. I was told they would do it today (Friday) and not a peep. I've been trying to get a hold of them and even left a voicemail and a few text messages to the poc. Just in credit frustrating because I could've had this fixed days ago since I know someone who can come out here and fix it. They didn't want to credit me if I was to go that route. I do want to send a shout out to Cameron(sorry if I spell it wrong). He was the guy who did the estimate and my poc. I know he's doing what he can for me and I greatly appreciate it. read more

Originally we started with H&H on the install of our artificial turf in 2020, but since then have repeatedly called for ongoing projects. They have trimmed our crepe myrtles on an annual basis, trimmed trees, mulched our flower beds, installed an irrigation system (and annually check it) and added black star gravel around our fence line. Each time Zach has been very responsive and quick to schedule for a quote. The quotes are always reasonable and their work quality has always been on point. Overall, we are relatively happy with the end result but it was extremely frustrating. If you want someone who will sit down with you to understand what plants you prefer and provide a real design, they are not the company for you. If you want someone who will tell you what you want and have a surprise estimate and bill at the end, they are the guys for you. They came out quickly and gave us a rough quote with an even rougher sketch. When we asked for more detail for both the irrigation and the landscaping quotes, we were told not to worry about it. We added a bed to the scope but did not receive any estimate for any of those modifications. We requested different plants, but the plants we did not want arrived on the day of install, requiring delays while we had to remind them of the changes that had been agreed to. We had to work with his staff to figure out how to place the plants and basically come up with a landscaping plan on the fly. In addition, the initial irrigation plan did not cover the plants that had been added. The quote was not accurate to what was needed. read more

This review is for Big Tex Turf whose parent company is H&H Escobar Property Services. When we bought our home in 2018 we decided not to install grass but wanted artificial turf instead. Two years to the date of our closing we were able to complete multiple backyard projects. We interviewed four turf vendors and made our decision based on price, samples presented and our sales person interview. Although Big Tex Turf wasn't the lowest quote, we decided to accepts BTT because of Zach. Zach provided us with information the others didn't, he explained that our Solar Screens would help preserve the color of our lawn and that his team would level our yard to meet the height of our patio and allow water to flow away from the house when it rains. He showcased quite a few samples and we settled on the "Masters" turf. I also appreciate that since our project was put on hold for reasons beyond everyones control, BTT was able to honor our quote well past the 30 day deadline. Keeping the communication open is KEY to everything. We were in constant communication with each other and when it was time to start, he put us on the schedule for the next week. His team showed up the day after Christmas, on time and was able to complete the job within 8 hours. The team was extremely professional, answered my questions, gave me advise and cleaned up after themselves before leaving. I was worried because I thought the size of my patio (very small) would have been an issue-- I've had several other businesses who didn't even bother calling me back or indicating they won't do it. I called around to get quotes to trim my 4 oak trees and h&b was the most competitively priced and responded immediately to my yelp message. They came out the next day, communicated with me throughout the morning to inform me of eta, did a great job, and hailed away everything. Funny side story: I picked up my 5 year old from school and he loved watching them trim the trees. I took him out to our upstairs balcony to watch and didn't realize the door locked behind us. My experience with these guys was like none other. I sent a message over Yelp, and within a few minutes I got a reply back. Then, Felix was over at my place within 15 minutes! He took care of my tree within the next hour. To recap: I sent a message casually on my phone, and within the next hour the tree was gone. H&H Landscaping:We used this company for front lawn landscaping. Hubert, the owner came on a Saturday gave us a good quote so we picked this company. We requested 3 crepe myrtles planted & specifically asked all 3 trees to have red flowers. He reassured we'd get them besides "there is a 90 day warranty for our job". After a week the buds started opening & only 2 plants had the red flowers & 1 was pink. So I called & spoke to Hubert expressing that the 1 plant does not have the red flowers as I requested. He immediately got argumentative, rude, hostile & blamed me for accepting it before they planted. I told him the buds weren't open at the time they planted so I could not tell what color of the flowers are. He continued to argue & even told me the soil in our yard changed the color of the flowers. How could the soil change the color of the flower in a week of 1 tree when the other 2 remained red & they were all in the same yard w the same soil? He was evasive, rude, arrogant, & intimidating. He even chewed me out for calling him on the # he previously gave us to communicate w him prior to the project was completed. He turned 360 degrees from our 1st contact to the finished job. Buyers beware of this incompetent company who seemed so nice & easy to talk to at first cuz after everything is completed and payment is done the owner becomes hostile, evasive, argumentative and totally disrespectful of his customer. I would not trust Hubert and H&H services again! Had him plant two trees among other things. Hubert stated he was the expert, he knows what he's talking about. After planting trees and working on flower beds he advised me to "water, water, water". So I did. After a few months, I reached out because my trees weren't looking that great. I was watering trees 4 to 6 times a week as advised. When the leaves began to turn brown I began watering more. Asked Hubert for help. Got NOTHING! He suggested, "not enough water at a slow drip. Give less water more often". I would not recommend his service to anyone. How can you not come out to customers house and follow up on your work, especially when there is a problem? We used H&H on two separate occasions. We had the front lawn sodded and flat rock placed to form a path(we have dogs and the dogs follow the rock paths instead of walking on the grass). Later we had two oak trees trimmed and another flat rock installation done on the curbside of the street. Hubert came the fist time and Zach came the second to assess the job and give us an instant quote. Both were excellent and made good suggestions and worked within our budget. The workers who came to do the job (within a short period of time) did outstanding work and were very respectful of our property.
