If there's one thing about about an H&M that you can count on, it's consistency. Consistency in fair prices, consistency in seasonal clothing and my favorite consistency, the ability to con the sales clerks into giving you a good deal when there's one to be had. I found just such a deal at this very store. I was on a mission to stuff my America-destined suitcase with coats galore on my recent trip to London and while we have H&M's here in the States, it's always been my experience that they are a bit better overseas, so I figured I'd go in. As I strolled through the aisles, combed the racks and fondled, tugged and pulled at fabrics, I found an adorable little gold knitted sweater for... 3 pounds. Yes! But a jacket, Stephy, you must find a jacket. Keep your focus, girl! I decided since the first floor was looking pretty picked over and grim that I'd hike the two flights upstairs and see what there was. And there, oh there it was, my new coat. I only saw two of them. One, definitely smaller than the other and from about 20 feet away, I guessed maybe a size 4 and a 12 or 14 for the bigger one aka my new coat. I b-lined it for the coat, only knocking a few tiny hipsters out of the way and clenched it with my mitten covered hands! (Somehow that doesn't sound very menacing with the word mitten in it, huh? Oh well, moving on...) Sure enough, the small was indeed a size 4, off with you silly little person coat! And then there it was my 14 (hey, I eat, I have curves, la la la). I immediately dropped my purse and shed the 17 layers of clothing I was wearing to prevent me from freezing to death in the chilly London air and the coat was on. I did the chick side turn that gives you a peep at your bum to make sure it looks flattering. I did the classic reverse glance neck tilt to make sure my ass didn't look as big as it really is and then I went to button it and... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Missing buttons!! Crap sandwich! But wait? There was that little person coat that I tossed aside with reckless abandon.... Hmm, perhaps that coat had buttons? Sure enough! IT HAD BUTTONS!! And so it was time to plan my discount. My trained shopper mind knew full well that they weren't going to be able to sell this coat as is, which means, discountville!! Hey, it's defective and missing most of the front buttons, surely you can't charge me full price. What say we take the buttons off of the smaller coat and give them to me and then sell me the big coat at a discount defect price seeing as how I will have to sew the buttons on myself? And so I scanned the cashiers and looked for the youngest, most clueless looking one. There she was, blinking like Bambi! I approached her with confidence and gave her my spiel and after she thought it over and asked her manager, what do you know, success, new jacket and 20 new buttons were mine! H&M - Women's Clothing Near Me - London, XGL

I don't care, I'm just gonna say it...I love it!! It's like good ol' Primani only about £1 more expensive per item and slightly nicer. They have some terrible clothes, I know, you'll pick up a lovely top then realise it has a hideous patch of glitter on it, or pick up a gorge cardi then realise the buttons are already falling off, but sometimes you'll dig out some amazing finds! It's also a great place for 'the basics' like tshirts and vests in every colour. It's one of my first stops for a summer holiday too - lots of handy cheap beach coverups etc. It's not great quality and they're not long lasting garments but then you're not paying much and I've bought loads of really cool little dresses and tops from here. And lots and lots of hats!! I love hats! read more

H&M is the place I currently shop at the most. I can always find something I want to purchase in here and the trick is, if you are a true H&M fan, is to know your stores around London. For instance, the stock they have in Camden and the one on the corner of Oxford Circus are similar-ish. They have more goth/emo/punk/whatever-the-correct-PC-term-is-these-days inspired clothes than say the one in Bond Street or the one opposite Marks & Spencer's on Oxford Street. Covent Garden is a sure bet to have most things covered, but the one on High Street Kensington has a pretty good selection and the one is Knightsbridge has lots of preppy clothes. Why you ask? Because it's in the borough of Chelsea and Kensington. Where the Prince William and Harry look-a-likes/wannabes hang out. You see, there is method to the madness! H&M is clever like that, each store in London (I can't speak for other cities) has identified what sells more and what their average customer wants and adjusts their collections accordingly. This means that you may find something in one store and not in another, which can be frustrating but if you know the ones that stock your kind of stuff, you're sorted. read more

I've got to be honest, I didn't used to like H&M. I don't know if it changed or I changed, but it seemed to me to be a bit like TK Maxx. And while TK Maxx can be good when you're in the mood, it's not the kind of place I'd go very often. That said, H&M is now one of the places I shop most often. It has a great range of stuff and changes its lines regularly, as you'd expect. The goods are decent quality, and the prices are certainly very attractive. You can occasionally find an absolute gem here. You know, the kind of the thing you find at the back of a rail that is only a fiver but you love it and.... YES! It's in your size! And then it's the only thing you wear for the next four months. Or seven. read more

Favourite brand, favourite outlet. H&M have been dressing me for over years now and I'm really thankful for their contribution to my style. What I like most about the brand is the huge diversity of clothing styles they have. From stripped jeans, to floral dresses or skater skirts, they cover all my tastes and I can buy every type of style I want from one place. The dress rooms are wide enough to go in with your girl friend so she can comment on the clothes you are buying. The lighting is fantastic and great for mirror selfies - I'm not even sorry. The staff here is the best I've seen in clothing shops, they all are so friendly and act like we are buddies since high school. I don't say this about any brand, so H&M must feel special knowing that they take a proud place in my top 5 clothing brands. read more

I do like H&M because I can usually find things to complete my outfit... a cardigan here, a blouse there. This isn't my favourite H&M store, but I like the location because it is easy to get to when you are in a bit of a rush. I always feel like they do not have enough room as there are usually racks in the middle of the floor. It also always seems like they never have enough staff... especially at the till... line through the middle of the store and one, lone staff member at the till, trying to do the best they can, but cannot keep up with the growing queue. At other stores, I notice that after so many people are in the queue, they call for extra staff to the tills, but this person did not do that, so the queue just kept growing. If they could just get enough staff and get the clutter out of the way, it would be my preferred H&M in London. read more

What a bargain HM is! For no money you can get both the basic and the stylish look. Much more stylish than some that were shown during the LFW.. I love H&M...They consistently offer good quality clothing at reasonable prices! I first discovered H&M when I was staying in Denmark for a few weeks back in 2001, and I always try and stop at their stores whenever I'm back in Europe. We're still waiting for an H&M to open in Miami, but even then, it seems like the H&M stores in the states just aren't the same somehow! read more

Granted, it's a chain, but it is my belief that not all H&Ms are created equal and as such, I wish to lavish some well-deserved attention upon this Swedish giant's best London store. Perched atop Long Acre, H&M's Covent Garden store is the area's best kept not-quite-secret. And even taking into account H&M's recent opening of a flagship store on Regent Street its Covent Garden outpost is the place to go for higher quality H&M pieces; the pieces you see in magazines but are never quite convinced actually hit the shop floor. By all means, hit H&M's Oxford Circus branch for simple tees and vests, socks and scarves, but if you're looking for the chain's more desirable and unusual pieces that are made in smaller quantities - thereby mitigating the certainty of seeing twenty other 'individualist' girls donning the exact same outfit as you - then venture into Covent Garden for a browse. read more

H&M is becoming a lot like Topshop and Topman. It is incredibly popular because you can purchase high street fashion in their stores at low prices. Discerning fashion victims would despair at the idea of wearing something on a night out that a friend may be wearing. Due to H&M's popularity this could be a possibility if you shop there. I tend to shop in H&M for work clothes and holiday wear, as the prices are cheap and the clothing quality is good. I have a soft spot for H&M underwear, some of my favourite 'sexy pants' come from there. If you are walking by it is always worth popping in to see if they have any good deals on their fashion ranges. read more

Most girls have perused their fair share of H&M's and, likewise, most will have a favourite store. There is a big difference between an okay H&M and an excellent H&M, with most branches catering for a slightly different fashion demographic, based on the perceived "style" of the area. I myself love the Covent Garden store, I always find at least three must have items and it is also big enough that the floor does not resemble a jumble sale. The Oxford Street branch is not so much to my liking, I'm not sure what that says about my style, but when shopping in Central London, Covent Garden is the H&M to head to. H&M over the past couple of years, has really raised its status in the High Street fashion world, and what is really super about it is that it is cheap as chips. This store in particular is definitely on the best in London. You can pick up some fantastic on trend pieces but be warned, you will probably end up looking like a clone as everybody seems to shop here. I am indeed a fan of the sacred H&M but have noticed that the cheaper garments (especially wool based) don't tend to look great for long as often lose their shape in the wash. However, their coats and jackets are superb and I still wear a faithful leopard skin coat bought 2 years ago and it looks as good as new. The accessories is my favourite part of the store - most of my bags are from H&M and you can pick up some fantastic jewellery, socks and underwear. Its a good bet for the lads also as the lower level is dedicated to some great menswear. At least the boyfriend doesn't have to trail miserably behind us on this stop of our relentless shopping mission girls! read more

I happened to visit this store with my daughter this last weekend to do some Christmas Shopping. I suffer with extreme back pain which requires me to sit for a minute or two every half hour to relieve stress. I had just perched on a display making sure not to sit on any clothes and was very rudely told to move. In fact the exact words were "You cant sit there you need to move" no apology, no inquiry, no can I find you a chair, are you ok, nothing of any personable nature. The assistants name was either Sabrina or Sabina - tall dark hair probably or east European descent. I would suggest that ALL CUSTOMERS boycott this store until their customer service has significant improved, especially anyone with a mobility impairment. read more

Sad to say H&M in London has gone so down hill, their clothing is basically wear once and throw away, so disappointing. Cheap clothes that won't last a washing, kinda crazy? They once were a leader in affordable fashion and style, in the US they're still considered a fashion house, after my visit to London, they're a total joke! Waste of £$. read more

Overall, H&Ms in London have a better selection, regular, and sale, prices. The Covent Garden store in particular is very nice. Three floors of womenswear and one of menswear. Although this location doesn't have as grand a collection as, say, one of the many H&Ms at Oxford Circus, there are a few cute guys that work there and all the other employees (incld. the cute boys of course) are very nice and make up for it. :) read more

Very Poor Customer Service and Rude staff I bought a skirt and returned it in pristine condition with the receipt but because the skirt smelt of 'perfume' (this was probably my lovely bodyshop butter), the manager and staff refused to give me my money back. I have never previously had problems with returns and was shocked at my poor treatment. The manager was aggressive, and rude to me. I'm not a scally trying it on, I'm simply someone who didn't have time to try this on in the store because the queues are always slow and long here. The skirt could have easily been re-sold and I was planning on buying a more expensive dress in its place but now H and M have lost a regular customer, who used to shop in this store every day. Lovely clothes but horrible people!!!! read more

H&M is the one thing I miss most about living in the UK, other than, you know, just living there. We have H&M in the US, but the clothes are ugly, cheaply made, and not very reasonably priced. H&M in the UK is completely different! This store is great for trendy pieces that you would never, ever consider paying designer prices for, as well as basics that will last for years. Just make sure that you inspect a garment closely, as the quality varies. I've had some trendy items that lasted and some that had seams start fraying within weeks (an easy fix, anyway), and some of the basics I've bought here have lasted more than 7 years because I shopped carefully for quality pieces. Like others have mentioned, you do run the risk of wearing the same outfit as someone else if you shop here too much, so I liked this store mostly for basics and accessories that I could make my own. Americans shopping for stuff to take home to the states don't have to worry about that as much, though. :) read more
