I came to this H&R Block this morning as walk in, a Japanese or china lady assisted me her name is Tailag. I had all the documents and to be honest she was getting mad due to she had to change my address and I could see that she didn't like her job because she was shaking her head like pissed off. We were really disappointed with the service we received here at the H&R Murrieta Hot Springs location. The lady who assisted us did not know what she was doing and messed up our taxes last year. My wife had called and set up an appointment with the H & R Block office located in the Murrieta Plaza office . We arrived and were taken back to J.Jesse's cubical . She got right into asking the basic questions , SS number , ID , etc. 20 minutes later we were hit the the cost of taxes being done to the amount of $364.00 !!! That's about $18.20 a minute . We come home then I received messages on how "inexpensive (as low as free , $69.00 , and $19.99) it can be to have our taxes done by H & R Block . Never again will have such a waste of money happen again to a company/franchise that isn't " up front" with a customer . I feel that we were taken advantage of ! We will get a minuscule return of $48.00 , but I suggest know before you go to any H &R Block what your cost will be up front !!! read more

Long story short, go to Kassia C at H&R Block in Murrieta Plaza. Long story: My husband and I were trying to file online with H&R Block (with the military you are able to file for free) but we kept getting to a certain point and the form was not making any sense. We are WI residents but the CA schedule would not let us bypass the form without putting CA resident termination dates on the form. It made not sense! Frustrated with that we made an appointment with Kassia to have her prepare our taxes. We got in right on time and sat down. I explained the situation and asked if we could just file the CA return. She explained that we could not because we would have to start with Federal. Instead of leaving it at that, she opened her browser on her computer and asked if I could log into HR Block online (their online tax service is 100% different from the physical location software). She sat down and started to go through where we left off and noticed the same issue. She tried a few clicks and then realized a portion was worded way wrong which was causing the issue. She fixed the portion and HOLY FREAKING MOLY it worked! She stated we did not owe her a thing! Not even for the 30 minutes of her time! She was so helpful I could have cried. Unfortunately I've had some employees mess up on our return. This last year filed 2019 with Randi Nulley at the Murrieta location. She made an honest mistake and put the wrong income information and when brought to her attention and I finally wanted to speak with the manager and she comes into me speaking with the manager calling me psychotic and being very hostile and rude to the point the manager had to ask her MULTIPLE times to stop and to please get out. I'm very disappointed but mostly hurt with how disrespectful Randi was and the name calling was completely uncalled for and unprofessional she was out right out of control. The manager was very polite when speaking with me though. But as for recommendations for Randi I would highly recommend you to go else where. When a mistake is made she blames the customer and then brings being hostile. She was very unprofessional and un accepting 9f her mistake and very very disrespectful. She had me sign for my husband and he was not there and made mention not to say anything. That should of been a red flag to me. We pay good money and mistake is made but our money is still taken and our peace of mind is not at peace when mistakes are made then the outrageous behavior I experienced today with Randi I do not plan to return to H&R block. I left in tears from her behavior and name calling. I've never experienced a nightmare of customer service like I did today with Randi Nulley. read more

Came here for the first time everyone was nice. I told the lady doing my taxes that I needed to fill out an injured spouse form. She said no I don't need to and she was the tax expert. So after going back and forth I gave in and said fine forget it. Submitted everything, she later called and said she looked up what the injured spouse form was for and turns out I should have submittef one also. Told me to come back in and fill one out and submit it. Now 10 weeks later I'm dealing with the IRS and still have yet to hear about my refund. Will never go back there again. We gave them are tax papers in Oct. 2018 and they still didn't have them done in May of 2019. They also overcharge to do the taxes. We would go in there to ask about our taxes and no one knew anything about them. The lady who was supposed to do them was usually not there working and no one else knew anything about them. We finally picked them up because we didn't think they would ever get done and took them somewhere else. I would not recommend them if you want them done quick and for the best price. I came to H&R Block at Murrieta Hot Springs. I was able to file an appointment online and I met with Mike Clark an hour after I set my appointment. I showed up roughly 30 minutes early. The front desk person was very friendly and pleasant. I was able to meet Mike 30 minutes early. I found Mike to be detail oriented and was able to find an error on my previous years taxes that was filed at another H&R Block office. He was very patient and explained to me the process of doing a re-evaluation on my previous years taxes. I was pleasantly surprised when the final figures came out-for once I didn't owe any taxes this year to Federal or State. I highly recommend Mike. read more

My husband carries tax debt from a business bankruptcy some years ago. For 2013, our first year married, we filed married but separate to guard against his debt taking my refund. For 2014, we met with a "tax professional" at the Murrieta, CA office of H&R Block and were advised that we could file jointly but with an Injured Spouse Allocation. We were told that the the Injured Spouse Allocation would likely delay the refund by a few months, but we were not told that acceptance of the Allocation was up to the IRS - they may or may not decide to accept it. This was not made clear to us, it was not expressed at all, in fact. Had we known that, we would NOT have filed jointly with the Allocation. Today we received the letter from the IRS stating that my refund was allocated to his debt.When I called the H&R Block office, I was essentially told "Yeah, that's a shame. I don't know why She wouldn't have told you that." Thanks for nothing, H&R. Your "tax professional" cost us $3k. read more

Decided to go to H&R Block for their tax services this year and "Katherine" the lady who was doing my taxes was very rude to begin with, kept sighing very loud as if she was irritated, and hardly even spoke to me. When I handed her my daycare paperwork, which you can legally write off up to 35% of, she tried telling me that 1st grade can not be used as a tax credit. WTF!! I kept insisting that the form was for my daycare provider not the actual schooling and she kept arguing the fact! Again, WTF!! I'm not new at filling tax my taxes and I sure did not appreciate her attitude. I understand everyone has bad days but next time don't take it out on your clients cuz you almost ruined my morning too! I ended up just walking out calmly and filed with Jackson Hewitt the same day with absolutely no trouble at all. Will not be going back to H&R Block again! read more

I had THE WORST experience dealing with this location. After making several appointments (appointment call center failed to make appointment correctly)... I finally received a call from Tax "Professional" by the name of Steven Halverson an hour after the appointment time. When I asked why the appointment could not be kept his reply was, "Well you're not the only customer, I'm busy". I was blown away and asked, "Wow, is that how you treat your customers?" He CUT ME OFF & said, "File a complaint, I really don't care". After asking him his managers information he HUNG UP ON ME. I have yet to receive help with my tax related issue. I called back & spoke with a receptionist by the name of Jessica. Who basically gave me an excuse to why her manager was unavailable, when I asked her last name (for corporate complaint needs) she stated, "I don't believe I need to give you that information, I'm the only one at this location". I have reported this issue to corporate (who were very understanding). The initial service Mr. Richard Woods at the San Jacinto location was wonderful! As a customer who paid $670 to file my taxes with this company it is terrible to know they have locations like this that represent their company. I highly recommend no one give this particular location their business. Beware of Mr. Steven Halverson. He has no business in a customer service environment & I believe he needs Anger Management if H&R Block chooses to continue to employ him. read more
