After using this H&R Block location for 10 years, I am moving my business elsewhere. I spent time setting up an appointment on 2/26 and also confirming it the morning of, my tax associate was a no-show. I was told I could leave my documents with them and they would fit me in where possible. I took off work to handle this task and this is the response I received. When I questioned the schedule, the receptionist got real snarky and said "I don't manage the staffs schedule". When I decided to leave my docs, she just laughed and again with a snarky response said. "and you will need to complete these forms" I will NEVER use this business again. read more

Sat in the office for a few hours with them on Tuesday (1/31/23) and had one box left that the tax professional (Elisa) couldn't figure out. She said to give her until Thursday and it would be finished for signatures and such. Called Thursday was told to give her until Friday, then Saturday. Then we called Saturday and the receptionist said to give her until Monday. Gave her all day Monday with no call back so we called Tuesday. My husband got a snarky response of "Well we do have other people's taxes we're doing, it's our busiest time of the year, give her until Thursday." Our taxes had been there a week already. I called back immediately and got the same snarky attitude from Allison with a new response of "Well we give you those timelines to make clients happy. It's our busiest time and have other people taxes to do." So we just give false timelines, lie, and then put aside others taxes who've been there already to do easier ones instead of finishing what you started? Maybe take less on and give realistic deadlines. Allison said she talked to our tax professional who said she would get them done that night. She called my husband that evening with an issue I needed to answer, she said she would pick up the phone (they were not close to be closed for the night), I called back immediately within 3 minutes and got sent to voicemail. Left a voicemail and called back several more times before they closed with no answer. The next day we gave them until the afternoon, no call back. We called the store and Allison still gave us the "we have other people's taxes to do" and such. We demanded our taxes to be picked up for us to take them elsewhere. We showed up to get them. As soon as we told the receptionist our name she threw her hands up while talking to the "manager" that "this is the one I was talking about, you can deal with it" in that same snarky attitude while rolling her eyes and shaking her head. While we waited Allison claimed she didn't know anything and we hadn't talked to her on the phone, even though when she answers the phone she gave her name on each occasion we called. Still with an attitude. No other clients were in that office. I asked for the owner information or whatever number I needed to make a complaint and no one, not the receptionist nor the manager, could give me a name or phone number to call. Still everyone whispered and had an attitude like it was horrible we were promised a timeframe and still had no phone calls returned or given to us or even our taxes done. We would've been okay with the few extensions we had if they were done, but still was not done and they were trying to continue to drag it out. We talked with the manager who was monotoned and seemed like we were a waste of her time that we were there. Had no other options on getting our taxes done that we're reasonable. The options were to have another person do them and we start over again, so to sit down for another few hours with possibly the same outcome, or to have one of the higher people do it but he's there only in Tuesday's and Thursdays so you'll have to wait and start over with him again. Those are not acceptable. We said if they could cut the fees due to the issues and attitudes maybe we would stay but still that was not an option. We've used H&R Block for years, even when we were in the military in different states....never had an experience like this one at this location in Wake Forest, NC. When we were given deadlines they were correct and had no issues for all of our other returns. Unacceptable customer service on many levels. My mother was a receptionist and then Quality Control and tax prep for H&R Block years ago and also agreed this is not how everything should've been handled. I was able to contact corporate to file a complaint and they are trying to resolve it. But I will never come back to this location. read more

Unbelievably unprofessional. I scheduled a phone appointment with Michele Davis at 3:00 pm on 4/4/2022. I uploaded all of my documents to the HR block portal and at 3:00 PM and never received a call. After 30 minutes I finally got in touch with Michele and she said "we don't have phone appointments and I am booked for the rest of the year so I cant help you" If I could leave a negative five star review, I would. Do not waste your time with this office, especially with Michele Davis. read more

I was extremely disappointed in the service, or lack of service, I received at the H&R Block on Capital, in Wake Forest. Since I move around a lot, using H&R Block has been very convenient for me, since all of my records are accessible, no matter where I live. I've always gone in to the office, but I decided to try a video call this year due to my travel schedule. I set up the call, it was confirmed, and the person who was scheduled was a No Show. I tried to call the office but no one picked up the phone, so I left both a voicemail, and sent a message. Neither were returned, so I rescheduled the appointment (things do occasionally happen), and called the office again the next day, and was assured that it would not happen again. Well...it happened again. The person was again a no-show, I tried to call the office, and no one answered, and no one has returned my message. Needless to say, I will not be going to this particular office again. I'm not going to write off the company, and I am going to go to another office, but I completely disappointed in the customer service I have received. I called another office and they were very accommodating, but what a disappointment the Wake Forest office has been. read more

I contacted H&R Block Wake Forest NC a little over a month ago to discuss filing an amended return. I was told I should see David Bole and that he wasn't available for a month out, today. I switched my appointment to a phone appointment and received information regarding call with Alexandra. I'm a busy man and made multiple arrangements for the 1pm call. 1pm went by and I called. No one to take call, left message. At about 1:15 I called again and reached someone. Receptionist I assume. I began telling her about my appointment and was cut off as she stated Alexandra was "no longer with us". I asked, "so you don't hand off customers to someone else?" She said yes. I told her about waiting a month to see David, and she said "I gotchyou". As I tried to speak again, she interrupted. More than once. I said let me finish my sentence please. She said something like well you have a complex, let me see about getting David for you. I said, "I think we're done", and hung up. And we certainly are done. I have no confidence in trusting these people to proficiently and effectively prepare my tax return. Not sure they could get a take-out order correct. Front-desk certainly not trained in effective professional communication. Moving on. read more

I used H&R Block software to do my own taxes. I was being audited so I met with Mr James Morgan at the H&R Block office on Capital Blvd for help. he was friendly and professional at first. During our meeting, he made copies of my tax return paperwork so that he could review it. We agreed to meet in two weeks after the holidays. I can to call multiple times after *three* weeks, and was finally able to reach Mr. Morgan. He told me he had LOST my tax paperwork and could not work on it. He said he'd continue to look for the copies, but also gave the excuse it may have been shredded as part of the end of year practices per office policy. I spoke with management and they offered for me to meet with someone else, but provided no resolution to the lost tax paperwork. If my identity or family members identity are stolen because of this gross mismanagement, I will take legal action against this office. DO NOT USE H&R BLOCK on Capital Blvd!!! read more

I am very conflicted about this review, because we have had excellent experiences with this branch in previous years. Our tax advisor, Tamara, worked very hard with my husband and I to make sure that we maximized our education credits, asked us thorough questions to ensure we were claiming every deduction that was applicable to us, and made us feel like a priority in the middle of a very busy season. This year, however, Tamara was no longer available and we were given a new advisor, Kimberly. We sat in silence for the first couple of minutes as she typed things into the computer. Rather than asking anything about us at all (not even a, "How are you doing today?"), she simply asked for our W-2s and then for whatever else we brought with us. If it wasn't for my husband prompting a conversation, I believe we would have sat in silence the entire time. She did not ask us any leading questions or offer any advice or suggestions to us. For the first time in our married life, we are not receiving a return this year. I do not believe this is Kimberly's fault, but I also do not believe she did everything she could to ensure we maximized our savings, deductions, etc. Paying H&R Block over $200 to do our taxes each year is justifiable when we feel our agent is doing everything they can to either (a) maximize our return, or (b) minimize what we owe. I felt that was the case for the past four years, but I do not feel so today. As a side note, Kimberly said something shortly before we left her office that troubled me. After my husband commented on our owing money in taxes for the first time, she said, "About 90% of the people I've seen owe taxes this year." I'm not sure if this is primarily a reflection upon her performance or upon H&R Block as a whole, but either way...it's probably not something you should be saying when you work for a company who claims to be "getting America's billions back." read more
