After slightly over correcting on the amount I paid the IRS, Diamond decided to "audit" my 2021 return, on their own initiative. Diamond decided to file an amended return for 2021. I just received a check from Virginia for $2225, with a pending refund from the IRS for over $5000. What a nice surprise right before the holiday season! Thanks Diamond Tax Service! I explained that I was retired & lived alone & didn't have much of anything to claim. Made an appointment with Cathy the following week & when I arrived a gentleman approach me & said he would be doing my taxes. I was disappointed that she didn't know me but she felt it was okay to pass me along to someone else! Come to find out he has only been there 2 wks. & he seemed a little uncomfortable . I'm thinking it's a simple return! We were done very quickly. He told me almost everything I ask about wasn't a deduction. I left feeling uneasy about my taxes. I called back 10 days later to find out if my taxes were done since no one contacted me & the receptionist said yes & I needed to come in & sign. When I asked how much she said $215! Needless to say I was shocked because it cost me less in California & there I had more to claim. My return was only $225 & I have to give it to them!! No notice was given or reasoning other than they felt they couldn't provide me with the service. The only thing I could think of was when I asked why my invoice increase drastically from year 1 to 2. I asked for an itemized invoice detailing my billable hours, which was denied. When I asked for more detail about the invoice I was told I could seek service else where. Frustration aside from year 2, I chose to return for continuity only to be told in Feb by the receptionist to go elsewhere. Overall very nice up front with many hidden fees which won't be disclosed. Hours were told to be estimated over the many returns they work. If questioned they, without warning, refuse service. No letter in the mail, or explanation will be given by the partners who, make the decision. Extremely high fees also. Think twice before deciding to utilize their service. If they'll treat a retired disabled combat vet this way how will they treat you?
