Women's jewellery ranges from elegant and classic designs, many featuring heart shapes to more statement pieces in unusual shapes. They also sell watches, including a particularly jewel encrusted Gucci number at nearly £2000. Now surely no one can justify such a price for a watch! Now obviously some people are into this stuff, but personally I can't help wondering what must be missing in the life of someone who aspires to the decadent luxury of owning a £2000 watch (apart from the watch in question!). Men's jewellery includes some rather bizarre Porsche bracelets and cufflinks for around £200. Phillip Stoner provides repair, alteration and customisation services for old jewellery, which I think is brilliant and shows their level of skill and knowledge. The majority of these situations often lead to much arm tugging and coat pulling in the direction of pressed carbon with at least a month's salary price tag attached. One of the finer jewellery establishments this here fair city has to offer is Phillip Stoner, aptly named after the gent that created the business, Phillip Stoner professes itself to be the North's leading bespoke jeweller. At the very least the product backs up the claim, the pieces are absolutely beautiful, and as far as clarity of diamonds go, I don't think I've seen any finer in the area. There's an interesting range of services too, from repairs of existing jewellery pieces to the modification of pieces, or getting quotes for and eventual piece creation for loose stones, be they fallen out of jewellery stones, or bought stones from Philip Stoner or other dealers. The staff are smart and accommodating, and you actually don't see pound signs flash before their eyes when you mention the possibilities of your engagement ring and wedding bands being bespoke. If you've got a bit of extra wally in your wallet splashing out on good quality jewellery at Phillip Stoner is a pretty damn luxurious way to do it.

Usually, for me at least, there is a bit of a barrier when it comes to that kind of place due to the expense, but this place has got some decent garments inside. Sadly, even if it's an expensive odd jumper, you will get what you pay for in here. I can't entirely justify that much for one wee item but the quality of the knits in here speaks for itself. And that quality comes two fold. Firstly, there is the quality of the wool; they use the finest cashmere, angora and lambs wool in their items. Secondly is the quality of the design, although the garments on ladies wear could be accused of being aimed at, say, 45+ I have on occasion found their clothing to be flattering to both myself and my mother too! Of course, they aren't strictly limited to woolen items, they have a plethora of skirts, shirts, trousers and tops to choose from as well. But really, all I ever nip in for is a beautiful warm cosy jumper which will see me through the harsh winters we've been having. If you catch them in sale, you'll grab yourself a bargain - even if the garments are aimed at an older shopper!

Like any retro shop, you have to root around for ages before you find anything worth buying, and sometimes you won't find anything worth purchasing at all. There are heaps of clothes on offer, but they are more geared towards women than men, which is a bit disappointing if you have a Y chromosome. Unlike most of the other vintage shops in Leeds, however, this place does offer plenty of quirky items of furniture as well as its clothing selection. So if you're a woman, or in need of some bizarre bric-a-brac, I'd recommend Retro Boutique. If, like me, however, you want to find a 1980s Adidas tracktop, I'd recommend Blue Rinse in town.

The card section is very good, and quite cheap, as is the stationery. It's children's section is very good for vests, babygros and odd items, such as bath thermometers and plastic plates. Where peek-a-boo really excel are ornaments. They have a large range of ornaments ranging from a pound to over £10. Worst thing about this shop is the very heavy door.

At the time of browsing they had an excellent offer of half price on some of their antique rings - which are my favourite to browse - and I was truly spoiled for choice. They had all manner of precious gems within a variety of jewellery items, including topaz, amethyst, garnets and more! They also had some more specialist items, such as charms for charm bracelets - cute little zebras, keys, planes and little birds. They, as do all jewellery shops now, purchase your gold for cash and they also offer a great repair service on your jewellery and watch items. They fit batteries while you wait too, which is great as my watches seem cursed to die all too often! A lovely little jewellers in one of the best towns to shop, Otley.
