Hotel Riu Gran Canaria - View from adult pool

We stayed at the Riu Club Hotel for 3 nights, and have to say its one of the best Hotels I have…read moreever stayed in which is a 24 hour all inclusive resort. From the moment we pulled up in the taxi until the moment we left we had a super amazing time there. The super friendly reception staff welcomed us to the hotel and gave us a room on the 3rd floor, and told us about the resort, and what to expect from this awesome hotel. unfortunately the room they gave us was overlooking the bar area so we asked to move so they gave us another room which overlooked the beautiful gardens on the 1st floor without hesitation. The room was stunning and so modern, with a beautiful modern bathroom, loved the picture in the bathroom and a super comfy bed!!! Loved the balcony where the sun use to hit every evening, so it was perfect to just sit and chill with a glass of wine and watch the sun go down! Wifi is free for 90 minutes in the Lobby every day or you can purchase it for 5 euros a day or 15 euros for 4 days for fast and very reliable wifi throughout the whole hotel. The whole resort was absolutely superb and one of the best resorts I've seen! The pools were pretty awesome from the huge sectioned pool, Kids pool with its own aeroplane and dragon to the awesomeness of the Infinity pool with its Ocean Views all with loads of sun beds everywhere though be warned sun beds go real early! and we struggled getting one at 10am one morning, the pool is also served by two pool bars one is the cool liquid lounge which shuts at around 6pm and the other one is Purple lounge which is open until late where we spent a lovely evening watching the sunset, both bars have many cocktails, soft drinks and beers on tap and you can even pour youre own. There are around 3-4 restaurants all with there each style, Las Dunas is the main restaurant near the lobby which serves Breakfast Lunch and Dinner all with fantastic cruisine and so much to choose from, then theres Kaori which a fantastic Asian restaurant, plus theres Atlantico which serves Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner which has Greek and Canarian Food nights with awesome views of the Ocean. The whole dining experiences in this Hotel are superb and the food quality is 100% Then theres the great entertainment which they had on each night, theres the open air stage with a huge long cocktail bar, with loads of tables and chairs, there is also a indoor theatre with a different act on each night and then theres Bubbles which is the nightclub. The only thing this Hotel is lacking though is a shop where you can buy a newspaper or suncream from so i think they should about getting one. The Resort is in a awesome location with a gate near the pool which leads to the promenade to Maspalomas which is around a 10 minute walk. The staff of this resort make this place extra special too with a special mention to Katy for always seeing and checking to see if we was having a great time, they put on a lot of activities in the day for adults and kids and are always smiling and really cheerful. All in all an absolutely stunning Hotel-Resort and we can't wait to go back!

Utterly fantastic. I couldn't fault this hotel and if you're thinking of going, go, that's all…read more If you're hesitating, here's why it rules: Location: If you are staying in Maspalomas, I think this hotel has the best location in the whole area. It is in first line to the beach, and right next to the mesmerizing sand dunes of Maspalomas. So you waste no time getting to the beach and back, and you can either get a beautiful spot right under the dunes, or even just rest in the stunning hotel palm gardens and then quickly run from them to the sea and back. The promenade with more nightlife is a short walk away. All inclusive: The level of the cuisine was consistently very high for every meal during the day. The breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets were fantastically rich, so you could always try something new without them getting repetitive. Most importantly, the food was always prepared to a high standard. The cuisine is a good mixture of Western and Mediterranean style cuisine, with plenty of good cuts of meat, seafood and vegetarian options available. Twice a week there is a theme night for dinner - we particularly enjoyed the one focusing solely on Canarian cuisine. Aside from the main meal times (which stretch for quite long, so you're not harshly restricted by them: breakfast 8-10.30, lunch 10-15.30, dinner either at 18:30 or 20:3024/7), there is always a variety of snacks/fruit etc available, so you could eat 24/7 if you wanted to. All inclusive includes both soft and hard alcohol and cocktails, and unlike some places, they are not skimpy on basic needs like water either, so you can just stock your room fridge with big bottles to take to the beach. Stunning premises: Riu Oasis - the hotel lives up to its name. It's a massive oasis of palm trees and beautifully sculpted palm gardens which give your entire holiday a very relaxing feel. You never have to be squeezed among a mass of tourists stuck together like sardines. The sunbeds and parasols and pleasantly scattered all around the gardens, so you simply find a tree you like to rest under, and enjoy your privacy and the feeling of intimacy. Rooms: are nice and comfy, with an included fridge, safety locker, and massive wardrobe space. It's especially nice to have a room facing the garden on the ground floor - there you have a front porch your own parasol and sunbeds right in front of your door to lounge on. Amenities: There is a small outdoor gym (a few cardio machines, couple of benches, lat pulldown machine, basic set of dumbbells up to 10 kg), an outdoor Jacuzzi, an indoor Jacuzzi and a sauna. Massages and hairdressing are available for extra charge. The pool is very nice for actual lap swimming - it doesn't have too much of an odd shape as it's popular these days, so you can keep track. You can get beach towels every day, and on the day when you check out, you will get spare towels and a spare room for half an hour if you need a later shower. There are two bars in the gardens, a playground for children, and many indoors entertainment areas. All staff is always very polite and helpful, and there's always someone speaking excellent English at least at the reception. Entertainment: the evening program was quite nice - nothing too tacky, usually just some pleasant singers. Definitely bearable for some starter drinks if you then want to head out ofr more fun into town. There seemed to be quite a lot of daily entertainment for children (but tucked away in a different part of gardens, so if that's what you worry about - you can easily spend a holiday here without running into many). Cons: there are not many, but two minor points - wifi in room is for extra charge, the free one in the lobby is quite slow. And on some evenings, you can book an a la carte dinner at the separate smaller international fusion restaurant instead of the buffet. While it's advertised as very high dining, I'd say that it wasn't of much higher quality than the buffet meals (which are nonetheless great) - it was just more beautifully arranged. So I'd just go there if I wanted the more intimate atmosphere, but otherwise preferred the main area.

IFA Hotel Faro - Compliments of the Hotel

Nice and quiet four stars hotel directly at the beach with great food and extremely friendly staff,…read morevery clean and well-kept. Truly pleasant and relaxing stay! And they even have a cute black hotel cat that hangs out on the loggia overviewing the pool :). I was travelling solo and had booked a side-ocean-view room to the dune side which I did not like (view was more on a green building roof, kitchen smell, backstreet with trash bins with a glimps of ocean) and hence paid the extra to change to a full ocean view which had a great view and was very nice and also more modern. It was a great choice - I loved to sit in bed or on the balcony and listen to the waves and waking up to the view was great. All facilities are nicely taken care of and clean, beautiful ocean view from all public spaces and you hear the waves rolling in. Pool staff is around all day, everything around the pool is tidy and clean. You have to choose a pool chair at the beginning of your stay which is then reserved for you - I guess that solves the eternal towel reservation problem quite easily. But also means that many good spots are reserved, but still empty all day. I mean, you can still sit on a reserved chair when no one is claiming it (which, it seems, no one did). Just one step through a glass door and you are right at the beach. What is a little of a pity, but not the hotel's fault, is that the city built a beach walk promenade right between the hotel and the beach so people walk by and look all the time. The hotel built a glass fence around its facilities (luckily no fence or wall which would have spoilt the ocean view!) and also set up plants around the pool, which was a good thing, I would not have felt comfortable without it, but you nevertheless can see through the glass from both sides. Another good idea would be to apply reflective coating on the outside so that hotel guests could still see through and enjoy the view from the inside, but people walking by cannot look into the pool and hotel area and watch you because sometimes it feels a little bit like being a zoo animal, especially when they are trying to take pictures from the outside....I did not let it bother me, but chose a pool spot that was a little hidden. When walking the promenade I realised that other, even five-star, hotels had a way worse positioning with regards to people walking by and no glass shields, so IFA Faro did a very good job with the situation as it is. What I found rudiculous is to demand extra charges for room wifi and a room safe, even if it was not expensive - it's 2017 and a four stars hotel, please change this! Wifi worked ok, although I needed to get new access codes on the second day. The hotel is frequented mainly by seniors, a few couples, and very, very few families travelling with children and grandparents. It is very quiet, also in the evenings on the ocean front, which I truly appreciated as I was travelling solo and explicitly looking for detox, peace, and quiet. Food (buffet) was delicious, an impressive choice of everything, and a lot of fresh vegetables and fruits which I loved. I cannot say much about the main dishes as I mainly chose from the entries. Dinner staff was super nice - for example, they quickly found out which was my favourite spot and that I was by myself, so they started setting that table for one person only. As there is a kitchen/bar next to the pool, a slight food smell is lingering starting lunch time there which I found a little unpleasant. Small gym nicely located next to the pool in a room with daylight, fresh air, and pool view; good massages available. My check-in was very slow. Reception staff is friendly, but was on the first day not immediately available and all demands took a lot of time, maybe also due to a very slow IT-system. After that, it was fine - except for check-out which was also slow and the receptionist (same one as for check-in) started my check-out and then just left me standing there and took care of someone else checking out. It seemed to be an emergency as they had missed their bus, but I still found it extremely impolite to not even giving me an excuse or explanation. They also charged me something from the minibar which I had not consumed (waived it without any discussion when I told them) as the minibar was not fully stocked on my arrival which I had let the reception know. In a nutshell: What really stood out for me besides the great location was the extremely friendly, yet discreet staff (I literally did not meet a single staff member that was anything but very friendly) who seemed to like their work, and that everything was very well-kept. Reception services could be improved. I do not find Maspalomas itself particularly pretty, it is extremely touristy, but this hotel is a great spot to enjoy the beautiful view and the sun and to explore the lovely coast and beach on foot going east and west (walk east only if you don't mind the nudist beach area!
