Please do not go here for acrylics! (the use of MMA) I recently did a soak off on a client that went to H2O for acrylics as a last minute resort and found they used MMA on her. If you don't know what MMA is here's a little background. There are two types of monomer liquid that is used in acrylic nails application- MMA (methyl Methacrylate) and EMA (Ethyl Methacrylate). Technically MMA was banned from use in the 70s by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It is significantly cheaper than EMA, sets up fast and adheres like no other product. Therefore, some salons continue to use it. MMA is widely used in dental and medical products - teeth filling, bone reconstruction. It is also referred to as 'dental acrylic' or 'porcelain nails'. There were a lot of reports of injuries - fingernail damage, deformity, contact dermatitis, allergies, permanent nail loss. After a thorough research, FDA concluded that MMA was a poisonous and deleterious substance that should not be used in nail enhancements. so please keep this in mind next time you're thinking of going here for your acrylics. read more

The young man was very nice but there was a language barrier. The polish removed from my toes was not completely off. One of my toes is bruised badly. My feet were left rough and scaly. Really disappointed. . I have been going there for years. It's hit or miss if you get someone experienced or not.. You can't stick with the same person. I don't live in Indiana but whenever I come to visit family and need my nails done I would come here. Usually the value and service match. Good value, good service. It seems that they've steered away from this unfortunately. Now, this isn't an upscale salon by any means but they try to appear to be. I think they know their competition here is scarce so they've inflated the prices quite a bit. If you do decide to come here...ALWAYS ask for the price of what you're about to receive and ask again once you're about to pay. Always. Always. Always. I usually splurge on my pedicure anyways but it left a lot to be desired for $51. Now, again I know I am not home, which is Atlanta, but come on. It was so lackluster. And my "full set" which was really just an overlay with "design", was $53. Bringing my total to 104. I guess the lingo in the nail industry has changed because an overlay is not the same as a full set. But, this is what both my pedicurist and the lady who did my "design" kept saying I received. And woman behind front entrance checking customers in, but he followed back up to front desk/hostess a week later for an explanation. After 30min past my appointment time, we hadn't been helped at all. They sat me at a chair for a pedicure today for 55 mins and would not run any water so I could soak and relax. I requested water 2 times and each time they said the person coming to do my pedicure would handle it. (The first one I ask was the one that ended up performing the pedi). I sat for almost an hour with no relaxation or soaking and then she rushed through my pedi and I was out in 14 mins. There are pieces of skin hanging around my toe and on the side. H20 was recommended to me by two people who live in the area. I didn't read the Yelp reviews prior to going, and I'm glad I didn't! I was way overdue for both a pedicure and manicure. I was 'assigned' a young man so I didn't have high hopes because I assumed he would be inexperienced and probably not great but I was so desperate for nail care I was willing to risk it! I splurged for the lengthier deep moisturizing pedicure ($70) and HE DID A GREAT JOB! It honestly was worth the cost which is in line with what I usually pay at my usual 'day spa' in a different city. Feet felt great! Nails STILL look great 3 weeks later. I don't do no-chip polish so got a traditional manicure. He did a very nice job shaping the nails, gently addressed my cuticles, and polished according to my requests. The language barrier was very manageable as other employees nearby spoke English reasonably well. For a 'walk-in' , it was a great experience! I'll be back next time I'm in the area!! It is more attractive inside than your typical walk-in nail place and super conveniently located near the Schererville Lowe's. All the employees were friendly, too. Visited location during their Phase two of state reopening of nail salons. I contacted the salon in advance for an appointment for me and my daughter. I arrived on time and there was a line outside and a table with hand sanitizer, wipes, pen and paper to sign in. One of the nail technicians walked out and said appointments at the designated time could come in as three people had just left. When you arrive, if you do not wear a mask they will provide the disposable mask to you or you can purchase a nicer one from them for a few bucks. As soon as me and my daughter were seated they handed us a face shield. Each nail station is divided by a wall barrier between next station (seating customer), each nail station also has a plastic barrier on table between you (customer) and nail tech, they also have a small spray bottle of disinfect so that they spray each table after every client and a small bottle of hand sanitizer for each client to use. They use a plastic covering for each pedicure station and the salon was only about 25% of capacity. They are surely abiding by all safety and sanitization procedures. The restroom was clean and offered sanitizer spray, bathroom seat covers and hand towels for your use. My daughter asked for a no-chip manicure and her manicure was done very neat and clean. I asked for a dip manicure and you could tell they do not give them often, I was not that pleased. Will I go back? Absolutely for the safety component and just get a no chip manicure instead! read more

I've been going to this Salon for several years and have been satisfied. Not sure what's going on there but my last two visits were awful! Went for a pedi/mani and the Tech was cutting my toenails and putting the clippings and dead skin cells on top of my foot! Bad on me for not immediately speaking up but I was really shocked and uncomfortable. When he started my manicure he repeated this practice and I asked him to stop. Later I got a link to review the service and reported it. I was told I should have reported it to a Manager. This past Wednesday I decided to give them another try. Ended up being told I have to do a different service because the gel x "won't work" for my nails even though I've had them done several times... ended up being there for almost 2 hours having to get the other nails I DIDNT want RIPPED off & was super super painful. She put layers and layers of gel on my nails with an extension that was going to lift my natural nail (I even said I wanted to avoid this and that's why I do gel x) They were the worst nails I have ever seen I had her take them off. Then finally getting the gel x nails put on that I ORIGINALLY had asked for. They ended up all coming off that week anyways because they were so poorly put on and the shape/polish job was atrocious, $80 later!!!!!!! I had polish and gel left all over my nails & hands and now my natural nails are destroyed along with my cuticles. All while this is happening - the women next to me is ALSO having problems with her nail tech and ended up with nails that looked nothing like she wanted. Waited 30 mins for them to let us in. They sat us at a chair and made us wait another 15 mins before I asked for a manager. He attempted to tell me they had appointments before us and that's why it's taking long. I mentioned to him that the 5 people they let in before us told us they didn't have an appointment and they were let in and got serviced before we did. He got mad and walked away. I have gotten my nails done here several times. The employees are nice, however, the entire place is absolutely disgusting. They do not clean the tools or wipe any surfaces in between customers. Hell, I'm convinced they never have been!! There is nail dust EVERYWHERE. Not to mention, it will get on the top coat of your nails and they will pretend they don't see anything. I even asked if I could wash off my hands before he painted because they were covered in dust and was told no just because. Based on all the other reviews they don't seem to be changing anything. I hate to write this review because I used to love this place. I got suspcious that they were talking crap about me in their language so I recorded them while getting my pedicure. When I got home I had my friend translate. Sure enough she told me the mean things they were saying. They talked about my weight and my legs. They laughed at me too. My nails were trash went in wanting gel acrylic nails but was persuaded in getting powder which I hated!! The lady doing my nails rushed and did not clean around my nails nor did she make my coffin shape defined. She finished my nails in 8 mins which doesn't seem right!
