The reason I go here and stay (and give 5 stars) with this group is because of Dr. Lin. I have been going to him for the last 4 years. He listens, does not rush me and truly cares about my health. Nice and laid back. The office staff is professional. Always a pleasure to speak to whoever answers the phone. The bad experience I had is with Dr. Chhada on an after hours call. Honest review; would not recommend. Pre diagnosis everything was great. Colonoscopy and endoscopy was a breeze. If it ended there it would be 5 stars. Post diagnosis, he failed me to the point where I am so frustrated with him that it's 6 in the morning and I have to write this as I sit in pain. After the procedure and through blood work I was diagnosed with celiac, diverticulitis, and Barrett's. Getting to that point was very rough, at my worst I was down 30lbs. His treatment recommendations post diagnosis where to "find friends" who have celiac and get a dietitian. I understand that at this point education might be my biggest weapon, but it gets worse. I felt a lot better for about two weeks until I ended up in the hospital again. I believe my second and unnecessarily hospital trip was caused mostly in part by Dr Rosendorf. When I left his office after the diagnosis, I was made to feel that the celiac was most important. I have no idea what diverticulitis is but the impression I would get from our talks was that it was not as important. But the dietitian informed me I needed a diet that catered to both celiac and diverticulitis. While I was doing ok at one point, certain items that might normally be ok for celiacs, wasn't with the added diverticulitis diagnosis. But I never took it seriously because the doctor never took it seriously. The lack of education after diagnosis is one of the reasons why I'm currently still on leave from work and barely progressing. Your a GI group, how do you not have a dietitian? Or how do you not hire one to create sample meal plan, breakfast, lunch, dinner. You should assume that every patient is a blank slate and explain these things like you would a child. I left scared and uninformed after my diagnosis, Dr Rosendorf made me feel that way. After my second hospital trip I was given medications that I was bewildered my Dr did not prescribe. Including a powerful syrup that coats the stomach ( how this wasn't given to me at any point still blows my mind) and pain pills (which this Dr will almost basically refuse to give you any pain pills). But I was only given enough until I see my GI. But here's the thing, I'm so scared that DR Rosendorf won't renew my prescriptions if I go back. I'm too scared to see my own GI because I'm afraid he won't listen to me and my symptoms. That it'll just be a waste of time and money. Is that the doctor your looking for? That helped put me in this position for a second time for failing to educate me properly on my diagnosis? The dietitian was the one who opened my mind. I never even mentioned diverticulitis until towards the end and the dietitian was bewildered when I told her I didn't think it was serious because that's the impression my doctor gave me. After talking with her and my primary, they are both very unhappy with the way Dr Rosendorf has handled my post treatment and advised me to seek another GI. Another incident involving trying to get a prescription filled is another reason why I cannot recommend this practice. I was put in the middle between CVS and the Dr office on new prescriptions, one apparently never went through, and instead of saying "I'm so sorry sir, I will take care of that right away, I apologize for the inconvenience I will find out why it wasn't received" I got some woman who just said "well we sent it" and an attitude. CVS does enough, it takes two seconds (and honestly should be your responsibility) to make sure that prescription goes through. Pretty sure that's part of the job. Not putting your patient in the middle of phone tag between them and CVS. Miscommunication wasn't my fault. But another reason I cannot recommend this practice is the two old crones at the front desk. The one intake receptionist comes off as cold and the woman who sets appointments never feels like she wants to do work and is also cold. To be honest, they both have resting B face, that needs to go. At no point did either of them make me feel welcome. 2 out of 5 stars. I received good care at their office from Dr. Chhada. I was just frustrated with their inflexible transportation requirements after a colonoscopy. I was required to have a family member pick me up. I understand completely that is to ensure my safety after being under anesthesia. However, I am a single man with no immediate family. I would have been happy to use a ride service for my trip home. I would have signed any waiver or allowed them to watch me secure my ride. Unfortunately I will have to find another provider for my next colonoscopy. Also, I received a second bill 10 months after the procedure. Apparently this was for the anesthesiology portion of the procedure. That is ridiculous. I would hope they would be more efficient than that. read more

The most unprofessional doctors office I have ever dealt it. I made an appointment in August and the earliest appointment they gave me was for end of October.I called one week before my appointment to confirm and I was told I didn't exist in their system. Next available appointment was for January. Couple of days before my aforesaid appointment I get an email confirming my appointment. By this time I had already scheduled two meetings at work and I couldn't cancel them last minute.I called the doctors office and spoke to Maria to see if they could accommodate me anytime after that .She is totally unapologetic for their mistake and extremely rude. She insisted on me waiting for another three months or go to an ER. Had heard amazing things about Dr Chhada and I wish I got to see her. But 6 months is an unreasonably long time to see even if that doctor is the best in the world. read more

No need to get here on time. I had the first appointment at 8:00 on a Friday but still waited over an hour to get called by the doctor. I also sympathized with the other Yelper that the front office receptionist was rude. She definitely did not want to be at work. Other than that, everything is business as usual with less than 5 mins with the doctor on consultation and a big co-pay for the visit. Not cool. read more

Glad I'm not the only one with the same issue. Dr Lin is a good doctor. Very compassionate and understanding. His office staff are some of the worst people I've had to deal with. In my first visit, I was not made aware that I would have to pay out of pocket even though I had asked over the phone if my insurance was covered. Thankfully my mother was caring enough to offer to help me, especially since we had come all the way from Staten Island for this appointment. On top of the surprise $100 expense, I had to deal with the snooty manager trying to explain how much better private offices are instead of public. Going forward, everything was fine until I had to change my insurance. I had gone through all my doctors to confirm if my new insurance would cover and never had the issues I had with this office staff. The manager I spoke to was nasty and wouldn't let me get a word in when I explained that Dr Lin's name came up on the list of providers covered for my plan, but this woman continued to talk all over me and insist that they didn't work with my insurance. I told her what my insurance told me and that the office could call the insurance to confirm what the issue was but she ended the phone call with "I don't have to do anything" and hung up on me. I looked up another doctor's name within the HUMC GI group and that name came up as well, but again, the same woman was nasty and when I asked her to speak to me like a human being she quickly responded with "No" and hung up again. I called my insurance to see if they could help and that's when they finally explained to me that both the doctor and the group has to be covered by the insurance, which wasn't the case. My time could have been saved if that woman I spoke to just explained this from the start. Dealing with doctor's and insurance is complicated and somethings needs to be explained thoroughly, not with a nasty attitude. read more

I use this office for one of the doctors on staff: Eric Rosendorf. If you have a gastro problem, I can highly recommend him. He's a great practitioner with a nice manner. On the other hand, nice would not describe the manner of his office staff. Rude, unhelpful, maybe even uncaring would describe them to a tee. I had an experience with them a few years ago when I needed a standard procedure and then a follow-up. I mentioned the then bad behavior of his staff to the doctor. He suggested I speak to the office manager, which I did. She apologized. Apparently apologies are only words. Because I needed an appointment with Dr. Rosendorf again. And I had to do it with his staff. I called three times before I heard from someone to make my appointment. These days, unless you have an emergency, the office is doing telehealth appointments. OK, I get it. We're in the time of COVID. But the individual I spoke to in order to make the appointment was beyond rude. She explained what I needed to do for the appointment in a condescending way. She was short-tempered when I asked her my questions. She put me on hold without telling me she was doing so, leaving me to wonder if she'd hung up on me. And when she did hang up at the end of the call, she just slammed the phone down without saying goodbye. I would never use this office except for Dr. Rosendorf. I kind of wish he would leave them. If you go to Hackensack Gastroenterology, you better be going for the doctor. You won't enjoy the process of making the appointment. read more

I've had about 4 appointments with Dr. Richard Lin so far and I'm very happy with him. He listens to all my concerns, answers all my questions. He is Not the kind of doctor that tries to rush you out for his next appointment. He seems to be very caring and supportive. I made the first appointment at 8:00 am. Within 15 minutes I was called in. I have no complaints what so ever! My experience has been a good one! read more

Dr Stephen Leibowitz is one of the best doctors I've ever had. He's been my doctor for 10 years and he reminds me of a tv doctor. In real life if a doctor can't figure out what's wrong they usually give you a bs answer or tell you it's all in your head. Dr. Leibowitz believed me when at 5'8 i was 99lbs and he fought to try to keep me alive after 2 years of trying all different medications he sent me for b a feeding tube to buy us some more time to figure outb why my stomach was bleeding uncontrollably and i would vommit everything i tried to eat for years at this point. The feeding tube helped me put some weight on and my hair stopped falling out and i got my period again. About 3 yrs ago i had a surgery done (not by him by an associate) that removed my stomach and placed a heart stent between my esophagus and the rest of my digestive tract. I could eat soild food the next day and I've been eating solid food ever since. I'm tv doctors don't stop trying until they help you and Dr Leibowitz is my hero. I can't believe how happy he is to see me at the b right bl weight and eating. What an amazing doctor! read more

ABSOLUTELY DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! Unless of course you want to be subjected to condescending, insulting medical care. I came here initially from an ER visit due to severe abdominal pain. OK, I have Obamacare, and maybe that's not the best care around but I do pay for it, and pay dearly!!! I saw Dr. Eric Rosendorf (btw--don't even THINK of going to him!!!!!) in December, right after visiting the ER at Englewood Hospital. Brought him the results of the CT scan. Without even performing an exam he says, oh, it looks like you have a hernia, you'd better go see a surgeon. (?!?!?!) Ok, so I go see a surgeon at Hackensack Hospital. She was EXCELLENT, actually performed an exam (!!!), said she couldn't feel a hernia, said the hernia on the CT scan was pretty small and besides the pain I seem to be experiencing is down lower in my abdomen. So, back I trot to Dr. Rosendorf. Now, keep in mind that I'm on a walker from a failed knee replacement, that I'm in pain, that I've actually put off surgery just so that I can try to get to the bottom of my abdominal pain. THIS time Dr. R says, oh, I guess I better do a colonoscopy. Ok--I TELL them that I have *****NO***** friends or family in the area who can drive me to the appt, that I will have to take Uber, BUT they make the appt for me anyway. So: I get there, rush rush rush through all of the changing room to the locker, one item at a time, weak and dizzy mind you because I'm dehydrated from not eating/drinking and s******g for a day and a half, finally a nurse takes pity on me and decides to help me, more as an afterthought than protocol. OK, they're asking Walk me back to the procedure area, everybody is yelling an order at me, I have no glasses/can't walk/am in pain bcz I didn't take my painkillers, the place is a mess, chairs tubes papers all over the place. Suddenly I hear Dr. Rosendorf yelling sit down HERE HERE on your left side LEFT LEFT what's wrong WHATS WRONG WITH YOU WHY AREYOU IN PAIN WHY CANT YOU PUT YOUR LEG UP????? Like he's never seen me before!!!!! And like he's never dealt with a disabled person in his life!!!!! All of a sudden the Dr. Rosendorf STOPS the procedure!!!!!!!! His claim was that 1) I was "in too much pain" ---really?!! You've NEVER had people come in to get colonoscopy with other, chronic pain issues???? What are we supposed to do--die of cancer???? (And btw, I had been in to this man's office THREE times before on my walker, so he was well aware of my issues and of my physical limitations. His actions that day--and the actions of the staff--constitute abuse as far as I'm concerned and WILL be reported!!!!!). 2) he claimed he "didn't know that I didn't have someone driving me home" --well, I had told his staff that I was going home via Uber when I made the appt bcz I have no friends or family in the area, and they had no problem with that. PLUS the staff at the center asked me AGAIN about the issue, and again let me through when I advised THEM that I would be taking Uber home. The time to realize you had a problem with this was NOT after I had done all of the nasty prep, and had needles sticking in my arms, and after you had abused me about my accessibility issues, but AT THE DOOR OF THE FACILITY!!!!! So...boom, done! No procedure. I'm lying there in shock. What do you mean, no procedure??? "No procedure, you're too complex." Too complex?!? WTF is that supposed to mean????? Oh, I get it, I'm no longer a person to you, since I'm an older poor single woman with a disability I don't mean anything to you, and therefor I don't warrant any further explanation. Boom! Within seconds I'm banged around the corner, and my finger is jammed on the side of the wall of the room. Owewee!!! I scream!!! All of a sudden it's just too much, and I begin crying. What's wrong? The baffled staff ask. Soon I begin wailing. I've had it, really really had it. Oh, can you keep it down, they ask me. Oh, I see, it's fine when you I convenience ME, but when I inconvenience YOU, different story. Bottom line--if you have a perfect life you will probably think this doctor is just hunky dory. But for those who have physical issues or lives that aren't 100 % perfect-- this doctor not be the one for you. Sad to think that discrimination against the differently abled happens in the MEDICAL community, but I guess maybe this can be the worst place. read more

If I was ranking purely on the doctor I'd give it 4 stars but to get to her you have to go through the nasty, rude women in the front. Every time I have an appointment with dr chada I get stomach problems just thinking that I will have to see the receptionist and then the other 2 Who make the appointments. They have a constant nasty demeanor. And if you ask a question they look at you like you are an idiot. It's a demoralizing process and there's no way around the 3 of them. read more

I've only been here twice but here is some helpful info: - Parking can become a problem. The lot is kind of small and both times there were people aggressively circling the lot probably trying to make their appointment. - Receptionists are friendly enough and reservations are easy to make. Not too much of a wait to get in. - My doctor is Richard Lin. He's pretty thorough and takes time to explain things in detail. - Waiting area is standard. Decent size with a small TV and magazines. Overall, decent experiences here. Would get a 5 star if they had an onsight lab. read more

I have only been to the practice once, but will be going back to the doctor, including for a procedure. Parking is a bit tight, may need to leave some extra time to circle the lot a few times. Office is bright and spacious. TV, good selection of magazines. Receptionist is friendly, though I did have a bit of a wait to get in. (for procedures, too). Wait time in the office was reasonable - not the fastest, but better than many. Saw Dr. Richard Lin, who was very helpful. After a visit with a horrible GI doctor, I was both relieved and comfortable. He was kind and took the time to understand my symptoms. Offered practical recommendations, and was very supportive. I left feeling like I knew much more than I had going in. read more

I tried asking questions to find out how much my procedure would cost, and after being told my insurance would cover it, i got hit with $2,000 overall expenses. Furthermore, Dr. Lin tried "up-selling" on an colonoscopy and I'm only 30. I told my new doctor that and he shook his head. Shame on you, taking advantage of patients. read more
