    Istanbul is the land of baclava! Another fun place for these exquisite pastries is non other than Hafiz Mustafa. It's a popular spot or spots for delicious baclava and for those with a sweet tooth like myself, it's a wonderful place to enjoy a baclava with Turkish tea!

    Went to Takim Square while on my quick trip to Turkey, and I knew I had to try the infamous Hafiz Mustafa. I got a little assortment of baklava. All of them were delicious. I spent around $25 in USD, which isn't bad in my opinion. But then again, it was my first time out of the country; so, I don't have any other comparison than the U.S. I enjoyed the baklava though, it was worth it to me.

    This place is a paradise for dessert lovers!! This place was highly recommended as THE place for baklava when I was looking for places to try Baklava during my recent Istanbul trip. They have a wide selection of desserts - kunefe, Turkish delights, halep, puddings. I got the pistachio baklava. It was the best I've ever had!! It was light, fluffy and sweet without being overpowering.My boyfriend who doesn't usually like baklava loved this one. We got the Turkish tea which complimented the sweetness of the Baklava perfectly. The staff was friendly and warm, despite being extremely busy. I would recommend grabbing a table on the second floor, so that you can enjoy the view of the bosphorous and the bustling streets of Istanbul.

    Yelp Review 2023 #71: Is baklava Greek or Middle Eastern? It's an age-old debate if it originated in Turkey or Greece. But I love baklava regardless of it's country of origin. Besides, they're only separated by a body of water and both the Greeks and Turks make it well. But researchers have traced the baklava's roots and it turns out it did originate in Turkey in the Ottoman Empire. Before going, I was thinking my game plan was to get all things pistachio. How hard can that be? I walked in and I immediately got overwhelmed by all the selections they have at Hafiz Mustafa. I was walking around aimlessly and my game plan left the building. I was unable to speak and ask for help. I was pacing back and forth. I didn't understand what was happening to me. All the colors, the crowd, the variety, and trying to observe how to place an order. They have drinkware, tea, coffee, Turkish delight (nutty, fruity or both), and baklava in different forms. They have take-out counters and also a dining area where you can get cakes or baklava with Turkish ice cream. Here's what should have happened: walk around and check out the display counters to see what you want; walk up to the person behind the counter to order; pick the size of the tin you want for baklava, and the size of the box for Turkish delight (baklava is separate from Turkish delights and must be in separate containers); watch how they've mastered the art of fitting different shapes and sizes of baklava very neatly into a tin; you'll be given a receipt to take to the cashier who takes cash or credit cards; after paying, you come back to the order counter and grab your tin/box (they'll put them in a bag for you). The tins may not be huge and baklava seem light and little but they're heavy. My selections: Pistachio Baklava Ankara Walnut Dolma Pistachio Durum Pistachio Sobiyet Ankara Pistachio Dolma Pistachio Saray Sarma Chocolate Pistachio Baklava Chocolate Walnut Baklava Walnutty Energizer Sultan Delight I ate the Turkish delight and saved the baklava. I told myself I wasn't going to eat it while I was still on vacation and I'd wait until I got home to eat them. Which I had enough self-control to do so but when I opened my tin, it was a mess and not picture-worthy. That time has been to at least 8 different countries. But it was still delicious! Each piece of what I got was loaded with pistachios or walnuts. Each kind had a unique texture and flavor. I really loved the chocolate baklava. Turkey wins with their baklava!

    We tried a different baklava shop earlier in the day (the one that everyone makes tiktok's about that say "best baklava in Istanbul") but I feel like this place is way better. The pistachio baklava we ordered here wasn't overbearingly sweet and very flakey. We also got a slice of Turkish ice cream on the side and its chewy + creamy texture paired so perfectly with the baklava.

    This is a popular place. There's a cool guy there wearing a chef outfit and he gave out samples of Turkish delight. There were a lot of tourists. It's on a really lively busy area.

    Founded by Hadji İsmail Hakkı Bey in 1864 and taken over by his son Hafız Mustafa can be found throughout Istanbul, and although a chain the brand's adherence to high standards has kept them at the top of most lists in terms of Turkish Confections ranging from Candy to Pastry. Originally making Candy by hand, Hadji's recipe for Lokum still utilized today, it is inside one of five Fatih locations that guests can find a wide variety ranging from Rose to Apricot with or without Confectioner's Sugar and Nuts. Embracing Ottomon history, small tables indoors and outside available 24/7, it is alongside Coffee or Tea that diners are invited to sample Baklava served with a sweetened Milk sidecar, each bite flaky and flawless as high volume ensures freshness throughout the day. Decorated in tile, a display window up front showing Asure and Rice Pudding side by side, Tres Leches comes in several styles including aromatic Saffron served fully saturated while Künefe sees Pistachio and Attar added tableside to optimize both temperature and texture intended to be eaten juxtaposing Turkish Ice Cream.

    Omgoodness...So tasty! This cafe gives you the perfect mix of Arabian, Turkish and European pastries. It's so beautifuly laid out and the window displays will literally have your mouth watering. When you step in you see massive Turkish delights and delicious cake slices. The portions are huge and there are so many to choose from. They also sell tea and smoothies. I got the fruit cream delight and we also got the chocolate dream. The portion slices are huge! Definitely something you can share but it's ok we were able to bring the rest with us. Service was great and although the menu was huge the waiter was friendly and knew all items.

    Hafiz Mustafa is the firs stop you want to have when you are in Turkey . They make the best Turkish sweets and baklava. It's also a good place to buy gifts for friends from. They have different locations and they're all good and busy. You can bay there in Lira (Turkish currency), or in dollar. They also have a seating area if you like to set and order inside.

    A must try in Istanbul! Hafiz Mustafa seems to be a chain baklava/patisserie place and they have multiple locations all over the city. All the locations are packed which I took as a good sign because that usually means they have a quick turnover of food, resulting in fresher desserts for me hehe. One thing to note: the menu doesn't specify how many pieces come in an order so we assumed it was one piece per order. To our surprise, each order came with 3-4 pieces and the tea came in a pot rather than one serving. My advise would be to order less first and see how much you get in an order and then order more if necessary. We ordered the traditional baklava, chocolate baklava, pistachio baklava, milk cake and pomegranate tea. The milk cake is everything and I craved it everyday in Istanbul LOL. Overall everything was sooooooo good and fresh tasting!The service was friendly and honestly it was pretty affordable for a nice sit down dessert spot. YUMMMMMMM.

For that, Karaköy Özsüt will always have a special place in our hearts. The interior is unimpressive and the fluorescent lights are dull. But, this is what it gives it soul and for their sake, we hope Karaköy Özsüt remains the perfect way it is. Known as having one of the best kaymak in Istanbul, Karaköy Özsüt has its own herd of buffalos whose fresh milk is used to make kaymak (Turkish clotted cream) that makes up a huge part of a traditional Turkish breakfast. Hasan frequently drives his truck out to his ranch, 125km away from Istanbul, where he milks the buffalos and gathers the milk to produce kaymak. At one point in conversation, he whips out his cell phone and shows us a short video of his baby buffalo at the ranch. Awww. A heaping of kaymak and honey are served together on a plate; smeared onto bread and eaten. The kaymak here put us right into a clotted cream high with its smoothness and creaminess. There is something about the Turkish clotted cream that despite its indication of "cream", it does not leave you feeling heavy and sluggish or like one of those feelings where you feel you've really had enough of NY cheesecake. In fact, after a breakfast full of kaymak, I dream of eating it again and again. Another must-have classic Turkish breakfast item is menemen: scrambled eggs made with tomato, cheese, spices. Sucuk (spicy Turkish sausage) is a common favorite added to menemen so be sure to request for that. The menemen is flavorful while exploding with different combinations of spices which we could not tell what exactly they were except to just savor each spoonful of it. Hasan also makes the best lentil soup, ever. We have been hooked since.

For me little too sweet, but I imagine they are supposed to be that way. I cannot handle too much sweetness but just the texture of the dessert makes me want to have it again.

There are lots of prepackaged goodies like nuts, Turkish delights etc to buy. I always get their baklava packed in a tin and bring it back their guarantee it's freshness for 10 days. I usually freeze it and eat it as and when I like. Works great. Their locations are beautifully done in their standard theme. I dream of their baklavas every time I'm in Turkey. They do have a few locations in other countries like UAE and England but not in many I hope to see them come to Canada soon.
