Only 6 minutes from my house, I don't know what's taken me over 2.5 years to try this. I have finally found my go to place for Chinese take out! Placed an order online and it was ready and waiting for me when I arrived. The sweet & sour chicken was filled to overflowing, and the egg rolls are great too! Take out only and the food is so worth it. Highly recommend placing an order - they are closed on Tuesdays, so order away on the other days of the week. The lights weren't working on their sign and Apple Maps indicated they were in the corner of the shopping center, but they are on the left side (when facing the shopping center). Enjoy! read more

I found this spot on Google a few months ago and ordered through uber but it was my first time just calling in to place an order and pick up myself. When I called the lady in the front was so nice over the phone. I just wanted two simple orders for my kids. Orange chicken and Honey sesame chicken and it was delicious as always. I would have reviewed this place a long time ago but just to be fair I wanted to come in person first. Looks like they are closed on Tuesdays from what the sign says and that's reasonable. I have had their combination lo mien before and beef and broccoli! So good! Being half Chinese it's hard to find a GOOD carry out spot. This meets that expectation! Check them out! Oh! And their fortune cookies are crunchy! That means they are fresh! Kids approved. Parking is a breeze. I will continue to come here. read more

Got their beef fried rice and shredded pork pan fried noodles. The beef fried rice was ok. Nothing special except the massive portion. Pan fried noodles was separated from the sauce for carry out, and the flavor of the sauce was not bad. The sauce was more watery then usual canto restaurants, but the flavor was there. Their portions are generous, so keep that in mind. I will come back and try their other lunch items. read more

Was kinda excited to try this place as they had some authentic HK style and Cantonese dishes on the menu. Tried some basics like BBQ/roast duck (they were out of soy sauce chicken), salted fish tofu chicken casserole, and sauteed yu choy (they were out of snow pea leaves). Overall I thought it was OK. Yu choy was mostly stalks, but they were very tender. Tofu casserole was pretty good and nice size portion. The pork was really overcooked and tough and the duck didn't have much meat, so that was disappointing. I will try again with different dishes, hopefully they'll be better. Seems like most of the bad reviews are related to Americanized Chinese, but this place has some potential with the more authentic Canto dishes. read more

Big shout out to Hai Zhou Village for consistently delicious food. My go-to's are Crab Rangoon (very creamy - never over cooked), Egg Rolls, Shrimp Pad Thai, and Shrimp Fried Rice. While the food is excellent, the best part is delivery. Always when they say, well packaged, and the person delivering says thank you to ME, makes eye contact, and gives what I will describe as a generous and kind smile. Ok so this one is kinda tough. Because I really like Chinese food and it's seems like it's really are to find a great one here in the Germantown area. But here we go, I ordered some shrimp fried rice to be safe and try my hand and when I started eating it, the rice was kinda hard like it wasn't fully cooked and really had no flavor, now on the plus side of things they give you a lot of shrimp and I like how the egg is in the shrimp fried rice. I just think the chef had a bad day. Now don't get me wrong they give you a lot of food so it's more than you need, you can share it with two people. I called the restaurant and explained to the lady what had happened and she said that the staple fell from the bag.... FUNNY BECAUSE THE CONTAINERS THEY SERVE FOOD IN ARE CLOSED ANS I OPENED THE BAG IN THE KITCHEN.. ATE IN THE DINING ROOM... impossible I asked her if she could refund the chicken and she said she wasn't going to do that I could bring the chicken back then she'll give me a new one... We really like this spot to quell our Chinese cravings, plus they deliver for free in a 5 mile radius. We love their Cold Noodle Sesame, wonton soup, and pan fried dumplings (Thick skins). I'm a fan of their House Special Ho-Fen which is similar to a Pad Se Ew in Thai food. The prices inch higher but are tolerable. The place is a dump. Needs new floors new paint and a touch of class. At first I was a bit nervous to try this place based on some mixed reviews and my being picky on my Chinese food, but this place has proven itself. The lunch combos are a great price, and they come with fried rice, your choice of entree, and a soda. Dinner comes with a spring roll, soup, and white rice (pay $1 extra to make it fried rice). Most places I can take or leave the fried rice, but here it is definitely worth the extra dollar. There is plenty of vegetables, and egg in the rice, and it has a good flavor to it not just bland. The combos come with plenty of meat, and honestly I usually make it into two meals. Service is quick, and we usually get our food within 10 minutes. They also deliver locally. read more

I had a simple craving for wings and egg drop soup. I ordered 6 wings plain and a large egg drop soup. First, the wings were large, lightly fried, crispy and not greasy. I ate 3 of the wings. I could've just had 2, but I was greedy, hadn't had lunch today and so I indulged. They were amazing! Later on, I got hungry again (lack of eating during the day) and decided to warm up and eat the egg drop soup. Oh my goodness! The soup was amazing all by itself! I was on the hunt for great General Tso's chicken ... and after had found the best ones here I kept on ordering and eating General Tso's chicken lunch combo w/ fried rice from here for THREE WEEKS straight ... so flavorful and well portioned... I was beginning to worry that I had became a General Tso chicken feeeeeeen ....then came to find out I was pregnant with my daughter. Lol. #PregoCravings. Now my daughter is 9 months old and we still love this place. They lost me. I have been ordering from them for years, not so much because they are good (which they are not) but for convenience. I have been a fan of Sichuan cuisine since the 1970s when Szechuan opened in Chinatown. That was fantastic, sorry it closed, Chinatown is not really Chinatown any more except as a stop on the Metro. All of the Chinese people who used to live in Chinatown had to move to the burbs. Muirel should try to fix this, but it is probably irreparable. Oh. Back to Hai Zhou. Last month I ordered duck. They forgot to send any rice. When I was about to make another order this month, I brought that to their attention. Can you believe that they argued with me over a tiny box of rice? Their food is not really that good, it is just okay and convenient to some extent. I'm probably older than anyone in their restaurant and I learned to eat with chopsticks before a learned to eat with a fork (c.1953). In other words, I was eating Chinese food before they were born. They don't have to worry about this dragon ever ordering from them again. I look forward to the day that the next restaurant takes over their space. Could be a while. I won't hold my breath. I'll just be ordering from their competitors until that time. I've had issues with them leaving things out of my orders before (soup and other things), but they never fought me over it and for a tiny box of rice? They are probably 2.5 stars but I wanted to drag them down a bit since I have invested in them for years, they are not really that good, and apparently they think they are holier than thou. Thankfully, they convinced me to drop them. Wish it was sooner, but better later than never. Remember Mr. and Mrs. Chu from House of Chu? With the exception of Mr. Yang who used to own Café Hong Kong (both in Germantown, MD), they were among the few Chinese restauranteurs in the area who treated their customers like royalty including (and maybe especially) children. House of Chu had, by far, the best Hot and Sour Soup. Possibly in the entire US. I have had H&S Soup all over the country and none were nearly as good as what you would get any say of the week at House of Chu. If you want to have magnificent H&S Soup go to Maggie Zhu's website (be prepared to find a goddess) at aich tee tee pee ess :// omnivorecookbook dot com. So disappointed.. this was my favorite until we found a fingernail in our fried rice. Their food, customer service and delivery were always 5 stars until now. I called back when we found the nail and all she could say was "I will send new fried rice for you ". I didn't want anymore food for the night after this. We have ordered regularly from this place for years. It used to be called Hong Kong Village. They get the food out to us in Boyds pretty quickly, and it is always hot when it is delivered. Their appetizers are tasty (chicken on a stick & spring rolls). Entrees come with generous portions and plenty of rice. There are lots of Chinese places around, but this one is out favorite because of the tasty food and efficient delivery. read more

Ordered my food to go as I normally do. I went to pick my food up. The lady at the counter was on the phone I guess taking another order. While waiting the cook wipes his nose and wipes it on his clothes. Gross. The lady at the counter yells at him in their language. No sooner than a big rat/mouse I'm not sure scurry across the floor. I said oh heck nah and I left. When I called to explain the lady said that ever since the hair store next door closed down the rodents started coming over there. Yeah right. She offered me free food. Ummmm no thank you. She calls me back stating that the owner said they don't have a pest problem. But that they have an exterminator that comes out like twice a month. For what if there's no problem. We tried Hai Zhou Village for the first time, even though we live nearby and had driven by the restaurant many times. It's pretty much take-out only, as there is but one table, but the food was excellent. The egg rolls were some of the best we've had and the three entrees were excellent. The curry was special since it included vegetables along with the meat. The service was very quick and the prices are a bargain. This will be our go-to place for Chinese take-out. read more

When they first opened after COVID closure I got food poisoning. Stay away almost 8 months. First few visits back food was very good. Last few visits food has been burnt or tasteless. I have been here SO MANY TIMES and never wrote a review. I am slacking. Anyway, this is my FAVE takeout spot in ALL OF GERMANTOWN. Seriously. I love everything here (except for the honey shrimp...it had a weird texture and I am still contemplating if I will ever give it another try). Their pupu platter rocks, singapore noodles are amazing, beef and broccoli is so yummy and General Tso = NOMS! My fave dish is the General Tso shrimp. So tasty and not heavily breaded which is a major plus. I really enjoy the food and need to try more of their items. Perhaps I will venture on one of their traditional Chinese dishes some day...Anyway, just wanted to say that I am a huge fan and it was about time that I paid my respect and wrote a review for this place that I love so much! read more

I noticed my review from a few years ago was only 3 stars so I wanted to update my review to say that I've become a semi-regular here and am always pretty satisfied with my meals. I've enjoyed a number of dishes and some are better than others but all are good. I think my favorites have been the soups and the chicken dishes (of which I've tried several); the shrimp dishes are a little more hit or miss. I recall having crispy beef once and while the beef was a little tough, the flavor was amazing. The owners/staff are always extremely pleasant and that makes me want to give them my business. read more
