Upon receiving the bill, there was some miscommunication regarding the tip. However, the server was quite rude about the interaction and made our entire table feel uncomfortable. He proceeded to tell us that he only gets a portion of the tip, which is understandable and we think he deserves to get paid fairly. However, the way he made us feel was very uncomfortable. Ultimately, I couldn't escape the fate of eating Haidilao in the US... The freshness of the ingredients and the staff's handling techniques were far inferior to those in China. The shrimp paste, in particular, was served in a piping bag and was broken into very small pieces; it ended up feeling almost indistinguishable from the shrimp bits in dumpling filling. However, they did offer complimentary vanilla and matcha ice cream, and the taste and texture were almost identical to McDonald's! My companion accidentally left her wallet at the restaurant, but after contacting the staff, they helped us find it. They've renovated a lot, and all the employees seem new. They also changed some items on the menu. The shrimp paste tastes a bit weird now, and they don't have Kobe beef belly anymore :/ I love their spicy pork broth, but it seems like they changed the recipe, and their mala broth isn't as numbing as before. They also have sukiyaki now, so I wanted to try it, but honestly, it's not even close to sukiyaki. It felt more like a sugary soy sauce broth. The interior was spacious and we were seated in a comfortable booth. We ordered four soup bases to share, but my favorite is always the Tom Yum Soup Base. This one is just so flavorful and works with everything! We got a few beef proteins, which were both fantastic. I can't remember the names now, but one of them was short rib. I also tried a few new proteins that rocked my world - the Shrimp Paste and Fish Balls. I didn't expect to love these, but the texture was so satisfying. I also loved going up to the sauce bar and making my own sauces, especially the thick peanut sauce. Unfortunately, the Haidilao Dancing Noodle guy wasn't available when we were there. I did not have to chew any of the meat that entered my mouth, big fan of that. Please listen to your server if you have never been here before like us. We picked 4 soups or broths to cook in. One was super spicy, two were medium and one was mild. We ordered roughly 5-6 meats ranging from beef and lamb to shrimp. Plus a veggie. The meats and veggies were delicious when cooked in each broth. Perfect amount of fat on the meats made them even more juicy than just cooking in the broth. If I could do it again, I would have ordered some rice or more noodles. My cousin and I went to this location a few times now. I'm very glad they offer a happy hour option during the weekdays for the meat! Ordering here has always been easy via the IPad. Service is amazing as always, servers are easy to get a hold of and the aprons provided help a lot. Our first time visiting, we decided to try many of the more premium cuts such as the A5 Wagyu. Although I'm usually a fan of Wagyu, it just didn't really 'wow' me in Hotpot. It's good to try, but not to order again especially for the price. There's an extensive menu for carbs, protein, and vegetables. Anything from the menu will technically do. It's a la carte so do what you will with that. The dessert and sauce bar is easily accessible, although it does come with a fee. What's interesting is if you are dining alone, they will put a giant plush across from you. The drinks offered are also very tasty. They rotate new drinks every season but from what I've tried, milk tea and fruit tea-wise have both been up to par with actual tea locations. WOW, this is one of the best hotpot I've ever had. From the broth, the meat, the sauce, to the snacks, everything was so high quality! The waiter was super patient, too. We usually see it every so often either here or in Fremont, and we never really decided to try it out until today. We're so happy that we decided to finally. Inside was very clean, organized. The table settings were organized for the food and plates that do come out. Are able to be set up and stacked on tables to save space. Our server Edwinwas awesome. for our 1st time here. He understood that and provided us with a lot of information, shows how to use the tablet to order, explained the membership. He check in very frequently to make sure that we're doing okay and everything works well. And also provided us with a kids meal oprtion that is free for our 17 month old, which is really nice and came a really cute plate. We loved the aprons provided to guard against food splashes, and even the baby got one too. So in ordering, there are many types of ordering of meats, seafood, and vegetable. Although this place was not all you can eat. But definitely the options were filling along with the seasoning bar that had some appetizers, and desserts and snacks there. Been here many times and in terms of quality it's one of my favorite hotpot in the area. Service is usually good (except one time this server seems newly hired wasn't not efficient at all n broke a cup). Combo deal on weekend before dinner is the best, almost half the price of dinner, but if you come for dinner, it will be $120~150 for 2, which is fine considering their quality. Their appetizer n sauce bar has a lot of option n ice cream is also p good. Everything is p consistent except meat cut. We ordered beef ribeye and pork belly but as you can see in the pic, pork belly was small and half of it was fat n other half is too lean (instead of marbling) makes it too chewy.. but ribeye was bigger n had better marbling. read more

My first visit to try the famous Haidilao Hotpot was exciting -- the place is big, clean, and even has a comfortable waiting room. Thanks to Yelp, I was able to make a reservation easily. The sauce bar costs $3.99 per person, and if you take their survey through the app, you can get $10 off. There are several menu options including Regular Hotpot, AYCE (Mon-Fri before 4 PM for $24.99/person), and Combo Classic ($23.99/person). I chose the Regular Hotpot -- meat service was slow, and the Beef Wagyu Tower ($26.99) came with only four thin slices, not worth the price. The best value items are the lamb or beef brisket, and you must try the handmade beef tendon balls. The famous Dancing Noodles are fun for first-timers but not really worth repeating. They also have fun "Secret Codes" you can say to the staff for surprises: 1. "Little Fairy is Here for Hotpot" (Magic Wand) 2. "Your soup is delicious" (Soup Base) 3. "Do I look like a kid to you" (Toys) 4. "Do I look happy to you" (Toys) 5. "Your snack is delicious" (Snacks) 6. "Rabbits are so cute, how you eat them" (Rabbit Pudding) 7. "Your watermelon is so sweet" (Watermelon Slices) Fun to Tried I ordered the angus beef brisket but canceled after waiting almost 10 minutes -- the service was too slow, and the waiters seemed overwhelmed. Final Conclusion Food is good for a first-time experience, ambiance is clean and welcoming, but the service is slow and inconsistent. Food is good. Always is, probably always will be. I recommend the basa fish!! Our server was great, however when we were seated we got an awkward table that was shared with a divider which we didn't mind but the host offered a free appetizer for the inconvenience. It never came, idk why it was even offered. It was very busy on a Wednesday night. Some food items did take longer than others and honestly it was well worth the wait. While waiting you can watch the entertainment. Some dude was doing magic and people love coming here for birthdays! read more

I went to Haidilao for the first time to take advantage of the meat o' clock. To be frank, although it was $24.99, not including the soup bases, sauce bar, or sides such as veggies, I still thought it's not worth it. We were seated and I liked that we were able to use the iPad to order. It was Thursday afternoon and not that busy. Our meats took a while to come out, maybe about 15 minutes after we initially ordered. We then put our second order, which after 15-20 minutes, didn't come out so I put another order of meat in. Ultimately, the meats came out almost 30 minutes later together, if I'm counting correctly, which left us with a lot of meat all at once. Not sure why it takes this long given it's not busy. I assume they are prioritizing other people's orders that AREN'T apart of the meat o' clock special. The $2.99 sauce bar was nice. Had the basics and necessities and I liked their ponzu. The Ube ice cream was probably the highlight for me. The soup bases were $7.99 each since we had our own smaller pots. I got the tomato and it definitely tastes like tomato but I enjoyed it! Overall, we also ordered a side of enoki and Napa cabbage, 2 sauce bars, and 2 meat o clock options with 2 soup bases and our total was about $107 before tip. I didn't think the food was worth it IMO if we are talking about the service and quality. I'll probably be back with friends but deff not a first choice for me when I'm craving hot pot. read more

It's always a blast coming here for great food and great performance. The staff was always very welcoming, and took time to introduce themselves and were always attentive. We really liked how they were able to split the soup base by up to 4, allowing us to try multiple flavours in a single meal. The meat was of high quality, and also reasonably priced. We loved the wagyu tower, and the ribeye for sure. They had a wide variety of vegetables, and a lot of the cooked foods (i.e. fried steam buns!) are extremely delicious as well. Their sauce bar selection was good, and don't forget to get some soft serve before you go! We also had a birthday celebration that day, and they helped us celebrate with a fruit platter, a neon sign, and a short happy birthday song playing on the speaker! It ended up being a pretty common occurrence as we saw many other tables also come for birthdays! read more
