The Meats were good and well portioned, the sauces were ok. The service was outstanding as they keep checking up on you. They also had live entertainment with someone changing his mask very quickly. The place is clean and the bathroom is well maintained. I'd definitely go back and highly recommend this hot pot restaurant!

The new chicken fish maw soup is sooo rich and creamy! Also had to get the classic tom yum soup! Meat was fresh and can't go wrong with the amazing service!

Traditional hot pot done right, you can always count on haidilao for having amazing service. And they'll always step it up a notch when it's your bday Love how this location is near campus and open till super late, great for late night cravings and they have great combo meals and happy hour too use their code words to get your freebies!

    Delicious hotpot!

I love hotpot and I've been to several other hotpot restaurants in Vancouver. I tried Haidilao recently, and it was awesome! The soup bases are very flavourful, which is so important for hotpot food to taste good. The ingredients were fresh and tasty. I loved the squid rolls, vermicelli, lettuce, etc. I liked that each table had a drawer for napkins, extra chopsticks, etc. so we didn't have to wait to ask the staff to give us extra utensils. The sauce bar was clean, and it included a bean soup dessert, but it was too watered down and tasteless. The grass jelly tasted low quality and hard, like it was from a can. Service was very friendly. The washroom was nice, modern, and clean. The waiting area was a nice bonus. We had to wait for our table, but we got to enjoy some hot tea and free popcorn while waiting and chatting with our friends. I took one star off because of the noddle show. While it was entertaining for first-timers, the space is so limited that I saw the noodle stretch and touch the floor once, which was not sanitary, and the noodle show for the table next to ours had the noodle stretch so far that it hit the back of my head, which was unpleasant and also not sanitary... We will be back in a month to try more soup bases! But we won't get the noddle show again.

World class hot pot. If you mess it up, it's your fault. Best attentive staff. Ambience is busy Asian huoguo. Hot pot food. JYW hi

Good late night place to eat. They focus on good customer service. The broths are flavourful. A small ice cream is included for dessert.

All haidilaos have excellent service and this location is no different. The food is more of a premium a la carte style usually, so expect that in terms of cost. The sauce bar is $3.99 per person but I think it's a very worthwhile add as you can go back unlimited times. There are snacks, fruits, desserts and of course the sauces you can mix. It's always fun to try out the "cheat code" phrases for free stuff -- albeit I always get embarrassed. We got a free pack of tomato hot pot broth and a toy! A tip too is that you don't have to fill all 4 compartments of the pot with paid broths. We left 2 of ours as water, and I know some folks add in sauces from the sauce bar to their water sections to make their own creations.

nick giada and wendy gave me such a good experience here i loved it, the food was delicious, and the staff was so nice

It's very hard to go wrong with haidilao. While admittedly not my favourite hotpot chain, I applaud haidilao for its consistent service and food taste globally, no matter where you are you are a guaranteed a good hotpot experience. This time around we tried a new oat milk broth which was quite interesting, though I did prefer my usual combo of pork bone and mala soup.

Spicy broth- this was actually ridiculously spicy, it was delicious but my spice tolerance could not handle Mushroom broth- highly recommend, has a hint of sweetness and they give you so many mushrooms in the broth that you don't really need to order sides of mushrooms Marbled beef- so delicious and tender and cooks very fast, this was so good. It's also very well flavored even without the spicy broth Marinated chicken breast- had lots of flavor which was great however I found it to be incredibly bony. If it wasn't bony I would have enjoyed it a lot Lamb- a bit too chewy and dry but still alright Shrimp wontons- these were absolutely delicious, the dumpling wrapping was great as well as the flavor of the shrimp Tofu- unfortunately didn't like this at all- it had no flavor even when put in both broths and I didn't like the texture We ordered side dishes of two different mushrooms, potato slices, lotus root, ramen noodles, and dancing noodles. Highly recommend the dancing noodles as they dance with the long noodle which is a lot of fun- just make sure not to overcook the noodle as it becomes too chewy! Passionfruit juice- one of their most popular drinks however I found it a bit too sweet (even with having a sweet tooth). I wish it was served colder but with the incredibly spicy broth it really helped cool the spice flavor for me. They also have a huge sauce bar where you can get and make unlimited sauces, as well as serving porridge, ice jelly, and chips and salsa. In addition they give you free icecream at the end of your meal Hot pot is ALWAYS a good idea

First time here, wife says reminds her of our experience in Taipei 101 Din Tai Fung, aka off to a great start! We ordered a bunch of things (see pic), no beef...no particular reason, just happened that way Taste 1/1* Server recommendations were not particularly great Pork bone soup base was great, wife loved it Spicy soup with milk was amazing, numbing, spicy, and yet smooth at the same time!! Beef trachea was not a dish we appreciated, mainly cause it doesn't soak up any of the broth flavour Their signature specialty lamb on the other hand, delicious!!! Annnd it remains tender even if you forget it in the pot!! Shrimp balls were also good, though would not recommend the bambo fungus, just get the paste woulda been our pref Highlight of the night was definitely the durian balls and creamy matcha coconut, wife absolutely loved them!! Value 1/1* Definitely on the expensive side, 2 of us ended up spending $120 all in, but was worth it for the food and service provided Service 1/1* Reminded us of Taipei 101 Din Tai Fung back when it first received its Michelin stars; quick, friendly, attentive and thoughtful, they knew I wanted a bowl before I even asked Cleanliness 1/1* Spotless Overall/Revisit 1/1* Would definitely revisit, plenty of other dishes we haven't tried yet too, ohhhhhh sooo excited!! Paying for ambience? YES, but service makes up for it Above and beyond? +1/+1* Provided my pregnant wife with a pillow (no other table had one)

We got their two flavour soup base - spicy beef and tomato soup base. Their meats and veggies were all fresh! They had a massive self-serve bar with sauces, tofu, fried chicken (which was delicious), noodles, bean curd, and other items. It was a good selection! You also get dessert in the AYCE menu with two options - vanilla ice cream and coffee pudding. After reviewing it and realizing she was wrong, she simply blamed her coworker and didn't offer a single word of apology for her behavior. Beyond the attitude, the food quality is a bait-and-switch. The first batch of meat was okay, but every round after that was inedible, greasy fat. They take forever to serve you because they are too busy fighting with customers. The beef roll is way too fat with barely any lean meat on it. The sauce bar is also a little dirty compare to the Richmond location. But it was cleaned shortly after. But in other parts of the world the meal is what's important and so is a quick turn around. Guu with Garlic reminded me a lot of the Izakaya restaurants I found under the train lines of Tokyo in many ways, including the amount of time it felt right to stay. The food came out quick, the servers took orders quicker, and the alcohol came out chilled and as nice contrast to the hot food. Looking around and you see the hand written menu on blackboard surfaces on the walls and this feeling of authenticity. The heat of the flames from the kitchen can be felt and seen if you sit at the bar. And the flavors just hit all the right notes. Starting with appetizers, a section izakayas shine at, the first dish we got was their scallop and mayo pizza. With a crispy crunch on the bottom and crust, this reminds you of the flavors of a baked volcano roll or scallop roll you can find in almost any North American sushi restaurant. Just like that dish, it's important to eat it while it's still hot so it doesn't get gross and 느끼 에. Then came the yellowtail tuna "tempura" pieces. Thick pieces of yellowtail tuna flash fried for just the right crisp on the outside with slight pink of the fish inside. It is meaty without being oily or fatty. Great bite. The beef tongue after was interesting. From the color of the sauce it accompanies it you would think it would be heavy in flavor but it is actually light and citrusy. A good cut into the richer tones of the beef tongue. The yaki udon was one of the best I ever had. It was smokey without being overpowering. The beef was thin and tender and balanced well with the mushrooms it also came with. The udon noodles stayed bouncy and chewy which I didn't expect from being grilled. Very tasty and highly recommend this dish. For our final bite we shared a hot stone bowl of their pork and cabbage rice. With the hot stone bowl constantly cooking even after this dish arrived it was imperative to stir the ingredients together constantly for the first two minutes. It allowed for the runny egg to meld with the rice and the crispy texture of some ingredients was a nice bonus. All in all, I loved eating here and if my appetite was bigger I would've tried more on their menu. A solid place to eat with a great atmosphere, if you're looking for delicious food that won't take too much of your time but still lingers in your memories you have to check out Guu with Garlic.

My fellow Yelpers raved about this place when I first moved here, and my kid came here with her school pals 5-6 years ago and also raved about the wings. It's been on my list to come here forever - and last night, finally, I did. It did not disappoint. My kid warned me, there'll probably be a line up waiting to get in (they don't take reservations here. I checked), so we decided to go at an off-time and get an early dinner, around 5pm on Friday. We walked there and, miracle of miracle, there was no line and we got seated right away. (Granted, we got the last vacant table in the place, and when we left after our meal, there already was a line of people waiting to get in). Food-wise...wow. I am NOT one for adventurous eating, so there were dishes on the menu I couldn't comfortably order (I wish I could, but hey, I'm better now than I used to be!). Still, there was lots for me to choose from. And first and foremost, I HAD to try the famous chicken wings. And I can honestly say, they were the best I've ever had: SO SO crunchy and crispy on the outside, and hot and moist on the inside. OMG so so so good. I can't speak highly enough of these! My kid ordered the butter beef. It was tasty and soft ("like butta!"), and the marinade was lovely, but personally, I couldn't get over the...rawness and redness of the meat and juice (which looked like blood to me). For fellow non-adventurous eaters out there, this might not be for you, despite how flavorful it tasted. It was just hard for me to get over how it looked. (I know I'm in a minority here. This dish is one of their most popular and asked-for dishes). We had the garlic dry spare ribs. I love spareribs. These were delicious but a tad too salty and greasy. I brought most of them home and had them today for lunch. I gotta say, they were so much better for me today: less salty, and I blotted off the excess grease. Delicious! My kid ordered a "small" sweet and sour soup with prawns, and wow, it came in a huge black cauldren. I can't imagine ordering a large size. Anyhow, this soup was a stand-out soup - especially for my kid who said she had dreams about it all night (lol)! So complex in flavors - spicy, sweet, savory, chock full of prawns and sprouts and lotus shoots and pineapple chunks and and other delicious stuff.... For me, it was a wee tad too spicy, but wow, even I thought, this is a special soup. So delicious and warming. 10/10. Our servers were prompt and impressively able to efficiently tend to a full house of diners. They got it all down to a science here. One issue of note: my kid had to use the washroom at one point and she left for a very extended period of time. I actually thought at one point that something had happened to her or she was ill, she was gone so long (VERY unlike her). When she returned, she told me it was "quite a hike", around the back of the restaurant and up a flight of stairs, too. I only make note of this in case anyone has mobility issues, know that the bathroom will be difficult (or impossible) for you to access.

We came around 4pm so there was no wait but by the time we left at like 5 there was already a line forming outside. We got the wings and veggie fried rice, and it took a bit of time for the food to come out but that didn't bother us. The portion for the fried rice was MASSIVE and could easily feed 3-4 people. It was good, nothing to standout but a very good classic fried rice. The wings came out after and were hot and crispy. It comes with a lemon pepper sauce on the side, which was super lemony - great if you like that but I wasn't too big a fan of it. The wings were juicy and fresh, though I will say I did expect a bit more flavor. There was only one piece at the bottom that had a generous coat of the seasoning which I thought was super tasty. Overall, good spot! I'm not sure I'd wait super long for it, but glad I got to try.
