Camille is the worst hair colorist I have had the misfortune of encountering. I asked for grey hombre from black hair and walked out with green!!!!! She later told me that the picture I showed her of what I wanted was photo shopped. She was rude to a kind beautician that I told my story to when this woman offered to call on my behalf to confirm my hair was indeed green. Camille told her I should woman up and call her myself. Terrible customer service and results. She is truly unprofessional, especially as the owner of the salon. Terrible. Sara, the other owner fixed my hair and was extremely apologetic and professional. I went to Hair Bistro In May, 2014 for the first time after my regular hair dresser moved to another salon. I asked a bunch of friends for a good salon and stylist in Orleans and 2 of them recommended Camille (Co-owner), so I booked an appointment and decided to try my luck. Camille was very friendly, not too chatty. She asked me if I had any plans for the weekend and what I wanted done to my hair. I told her I wanted to lighten my existing ombré a tiny bit (it went from medium brown to a dark golden brown), that I wanted it to still be subtle, just a bit lighter, and that I wanted a good trim. I have medium brown, very long hair (goes to my mid-back). I STRESSED that I didn't want it to be very noticeable, specifically that I did NOT want it blond at the ends and brown on top. She told me that it would not be a problem and that she has done a lot of ombrés. She mixed up the bleach and proceeded to do the ombré. She set a timer for 20 mins and then went to shave a young man's head while I waited. At 20 mins, she was still clipping the man's hair, who was balding btw so he didn't have much hair, she came back and checked my hair, then went back to the gentlemen to finish him up. When she was fully done with him, she rinsed off my hair and when she showed it to me, she asked if the colour was ok. My hair was borderline white where she had bleached it. I told her it was MUCH too blond and she said she would tone it to the colour I wanted. She said she always goes blonder cause people seem to always want it blonder than what they state (never mind that I specifically told her I did NOT want blond.) She toned it once, and rinsed it. I had to ask her to tone it again since it was still too light. After the second tone, it was better and she went on to cut it. She then asked me again if I had any plans that weekend (which she had already asked me but seemed to have not cared at all what my response was the first time - I know this is a bit silly, but still). Now, I am not a professional hairdresser, but I have been getting my hair done for years and from my experience, a colourist will usually only bleach your hair as little as possible in order to avoid damage. I've never had my hair bleached to white only to have it toned back to brown. She took about 10 mins to cut my hair and then dried it. She thinned it a bit after it was dry and then I was done. It took her less time to cut my mid-back length hair than it did to use clippers on a balding man's head. I felt like she missed a lot of my layers and split ends... It would have been nice if she spent a bit more time cutting. In the past, it usually took my hairdresser upswards of 30 mins to cut my hair. After about a week, my hair started fading and continued to fade until it was very blond at the ends. It also became very dry and damaged at the ends due to how much it was bleached. Unfortunately, I won't be going back to Hair Bistro. Camille was nice, she didn't do a horrible job with my hair, I just felt that she didn't listen to what I wanted and couldn't really be bothered to take her time with a new client. I have friends who really like her as a hairstylist... I guess it just wasn't a good match for me. read more

What a nightmare, My daughter went in to get extensions last week so that she would look beautiful for prom. Alanda, who did the work should be ashamed to say she did this. The hair itself is like horse hair, it's not blended, it looks terrible.At least ten extensions have fallen out as well. What's worse is my 18 year old paid $500.00 for this and no one is willing to do anything for us. We didn't know that Hair Bistro rents out their chairs to independent contractors and won't take any responsibility for their work, we weren't informed of this at all. It gets worse, I had another employee contact me from the hair bistro, posing at the owner and things got very bizarre. The bottom line is we have to go to court in order to get any compensation, ( we offered to compromise at a 50% refund and share the burden but they're not willing). No one will give us Alanda's last name or the name of the person who posed as the owner, sending very strange texts to me. It's totally not worth it. I you'd like to see pics of how bad my daughters hair is, just ask me, I can send them. Please, go somewhere else and save yourself a lot of pain and agony. read more

Worst salon and worst customer service I've ever seen! Camille was my hair dresser and i asked for something specific and shower her a picture, when she was done it was nothing at all like the picture, it turned out orange at the roots and the colour didn't even show at all..it was just a whole 360 of what i wanted. I had asked for her to redo it and right off the bat she was so rude and defensive, saying nothing was wrong and that if i wanted her to redo it i would have to wait 2 weeks! that wasn't acceptable so she basically told me wait or go somewhere else..i asked for a refund she said no..after 20 min of arguing she said to come back in a few days and her worker will fix it at her cost i said ok fine..i walk in and the worker has no idea what is going on she only offered a toner witch didn't fix anything!!..then the WORST part come.. her and the other owner wanted to send me out with WET hair. They did not want to blow dry my hair. SO please people stay away from this place..if you don't get what you asked for its YOUR fault you will not get a refund. HORRIBLE read more

I have visited this new salon on two occasions since they open in the summer of 2012. My most recent visit was horrific. I went in for highlights and low lights. Which was considered a partial . The top an sides of the highlights looked good on first glance but then on closer examination I noticed two of the low lights on either side of my head which were dark brown so very noticeable against my blonde had two huge spots right In the middle where the brown did not cover the blonde. I pointed this out to the coloristic who just so happens to be one of the owners, she told me it was bleeding of my blonde coming through the brown which made no sense to me it looks more like she just missed these two places when applying the colour. She said it should wash and fade after a couple washes. Now I am not an expert but I have had enough highlights over the years to know what she as telling me was not true. Needless to say I left and came home and liked at my hair in my home lighting and mirror low and behold I looked at the back of my head which she didn't show me before leaving the salon and she didn't carry the highlights around the back of my head so it looked like she forgot to do this section. I called her to ask why a partial would look like this to which she said she does all partial jus to the crown and down the sides. I argued with her a few minutes to which she got very rude and told me she didn't have time to discuss this wih me if I wanted it fixed she would have to charge me doe the extra product as that would be considered a fu head if she went around the back top. I hung up and went to another salon and asked the stylist how a partial highlight is done and she proceeded to tell me around the top down the sides and carried around the back top layers. I told I was going to turn around and ask her to look at my hair and tell me what she saw. To which she said oh my she didn't bring your highlights around the back that isn't correct. Needless to say I had this salon finish my hair because I refused to give more money to Hair Bistro and to the owner Sarah Viau! So a $135.00 hair color ended up costing me $200.00 when it was all over plus 4 hrs of my day off. Plus I didn't get the two spots fixed in the side that she missed. Needless to say I will never go back to this salon and caution anyone else from going there. The owner was very unprofessional in how she handled the situation and to not to offer to corre t her mistakes just cost her a client and anyone I would of referred there. Ladies beware! read more

I went in with a Groupon but specifically asked if the person doing my hair was experienced. I was told she had been doing hair for two years so I booked my appointment. I asked for caramel colored highlights, what I got was orange brassy highlights with half an inch of dark roots around my face as if I already had a lot of regrowth. I called and asked to have it fixed which they were pleasant about and the co owner Sarah told me over the phone she would be there to watch over the fix to ensure it was to be done properly and assured me that since it was a fix there would be no cost unless I wanted a completely new style which I didn't. The stylist seemed a bit confused about what I didn't like saying some people like golden and some don't. Sorry, I've had golden. Harsh brass is not golden. The co owner never assisted as she said. The stylist then told me that the toner would give me a darker ashier color and would blend in well. They then charged me for the products unlike what they had promised. I agreed but it wasn't until I left that I now realized in the daylight I was white blond with mixed dark hair by the sides of my head and two big streaks one being the most prominent at the front of my head was green!! Lesson learned. Never buy a Groupon for hair, saving money will give you a cheaper job. At the end of the day, my $65 Groupon plus $15 products plus $25 total tip plus tax could have given me a proper job at a reputable salon. This is not including the $30 in products I had to purchase that night at Sally's to dye my hair dark to get rid of the green streaks. Even the girls at Sally's were horrified at the job done. Over $140 down the drain for nothing. My girlfriends had warned me about their experiences with hair bistro. I should have listened. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

I bought a Groupon for highlights and a cut from Jennifer @ Hair Bistro. Jennifer was extremely nice, friendly, and a pleasant conversationalist. She mentioned that highlights were her forte and that she does highlights more than anything else. I specifically asked her if the highlights would fry my hair and she assured me that my hair was healthy enough and it would be fine. So... starting with the highlights- my request for "caramel" highlights didn't quite end up so- I now have blondish/ brassy highlights. They start about an inch from my scalp making it look like it has been weeks since my last highlight. We'll just say that even the hairstylist at First Cutters was shocked that it had only been 5 days and not weeks! There are places where they bleach bled and the color is patchy. So color and technique were off for me. My hair also got fried- it looks like some of the pieces were singed with a lighter- curled up and brittle- it literally breaks off if you run your finger down it!! On to the haircut- it was uneven and not at all what I had asked for- I had said shorter in the back and angled towards the front- I ended up with a even (but somewhat uneven) cut. So, my $50 Groupon (+$20 tip) is now costing me another $20 to fix the haircut and another $50 to darken the highlights and get rid of the brassy tones. My advice: if you're considering a Groupon with Jennifer for highlights, skip it, save your money and go somewhere people recommend!! (I should note too though that my hair was black to begin with so it may have been a tougher job, but she should have been honest and told me about the risks- and gone closer to the roots- and given me brown highlights- and conditioned it when she noticed it was brittle afterwards). I called the salon to ask them to fix it, and it took two days for someone to call me back and they made it sound like I was being difficult and a bother- a picky client. I felt like a second-class citizen for buying a Groupon and since I am from out of town, she perhaps had no incentive to keep me satisfied. Bummer. Got a better cut from First Choice Haircutters at a fraction of the cost and am heading them to have them fix my haircolor!! Pricey mistake, but lesson learned! read more
