After reading reviews on many sites, I decided to go with Becca. The salon is about a one hour drive from my home but I do come to Eau Claire regularly for shopping anyway. I decided to take the plunge and scheduled an appointment. I am so glad that I did. Becca takes the time to do a good consultation before cutting. She is well trained in hair cutting as she trained at the Aveda Institute in Minneapolis. The scalp massage prior to shampooing is wonderful and you know you have a great cut when you can actually go home and style your hair on your own! The salon does not reek of hair chemicals as she uses natural hair care products. It is a small salon, and it is relaxing to be there because it is not full of other stylists and customers carrying on multiple conversations. My whole visit was great and I am looking forward to my next appointment in four weeks!

After 10 minutes I asked if I had to sign in or something. Had my hair cut and colored. Color turned out great but the cut was not what I had asked for. I showed a picture and shared that I would like for it to be all one length. For some reason the hair dresser cut the two sides by my face shorter then the rest of my hair. When I asked her why they were chunking and sticking out she replied that she could fix it. After she was done, she stated "well if you don't like it you will have to let it grow out." A week later I called back to see if someone else could fix it, as to which I was told that I would have to go back to the same person. I stated that she tried to fix it and shared what the hair dresser told me in regards to you will have to let it grow out. That clearly tells me she cannot fix it, so why would I go back to her. Very upsetting and now will have to pay for someone else to fix it. Definitely would not recommend this place at all.

I tried booking an appointment online through her Facebook page and I didn't hear from her, so 3…read moredays later I texted the number provided on her profile page and we had a confirmed appointment which was all good to go . I drove 45 minutes away and I showed up to the appointment on time, but there was a note on her front door stating she needed to reschedule her appointments for today. I sent her a text and no reply. I truly understand if you are sick or have a family emergency as to why you need to cancel, but for her not to even try calling or texting stating "hey sorry for the inconvenience but...I need to cancel" before customers show up is quite honestly the most disrespectful thing. Customers don't deserve a heads up apparently, so because of this I will never be back. Leaving a note on the door and ghosting a client is beyond rude!

They were only spotting highlights, not full head highlights like I requested from krystal. And it cost me over $100 to get my hair fixed. I messaged Krystal to get my money back and she said to send her a picture of the receipt and she would return my money, I sent her a picture of the receipt and still have not gotten my money back. I know that getting my hair bleached to the palest levels of blonde by a cosmetology student is a…read morelittle insane but I do it anyway cause I ain't rich :-) A tip for anyone with fine hair going blonde: make sure to ask for a low volume of peroxide like 15 or lower, to prevent over-processing. My hair is intact thanks to this technique, yay. So, I asked to have my very long brunette root outgrowth lightened to blend with the ends, without toner. I do this to prep my hair for pastel temporary dyes like pink or lilac. I didn't need a perfect result but I lost some confidence in this business because they initially weren't willing to acknowledge the different levels of blonde here (see pics). I was trying to ask for advice and a follow up appointment, not a refund. Reluctantly, an instructor told me to return in a week and they'd fix the huge brassy band for $40. I am biased because I'm comparing this salon school to the one I usually visit in California, which has always been so meticulous and upfront about my hair, yet charges the same rates. So between the lightening process, a haircut and a complimentary style, this service was $80 and I tipped $5. The student gave me a really nice French braid though. I'd come back for updos and haircuts, just not bleach.
