I have got my hair styled/curled dozens of times and always takes 40-50 minutes, never more then that. This time, I made a appointment 2 weeks before for 12pm, as I have to be out by 1pm and have a wedding to attend, not to mention I need to do the make-up of family members beforehand. I showed the hairdresser my hair and told me it would only take her 45 minutes. Long story short, I arrived on time that day, 15 minutes into curling and pinning up my hair, the hairdressers friend walked in complaining about a problem she had with hair, she had no appointment, so the hairdresser left doing my hair and worked on her friends for about 30 minutes. After she returned, she pinned up my hair and left it for too long. By the time she was removing my pins it was 1:40, I told her I would finish it off at home with the teasing and brushing out. She knew I was annoyed and blamed it on my hair by saying "Your hair is very thick! Thats why it took so long" in a jokingly way, actually it took long because she left me for ages to attend to her friend. I ended up leaving at 1.45, when I should of been finished an hour ago. I was extremely late and had people waiting on me, which was added stress to the other things I needed done that day. Either way, I loved the curls and the previous visits I had, I just personally think that a client shouldn't be left for the hairdresser to attend to friends.

This is a great shop for picking up shampoos, treatments and styling products. It looks like a simple shop from the outside, but within there is actually a salon out the back, where they do haircuts and piercings. Having known someone that have worked here, they ensure that their staff is trained and experienced before trying their skills out on you. You won't have to worry about leaving the shop looking like a circus freak - unless you want to. Not only is the staff friendly, but they also share great tips for hair treatment. They won't try to sell you the most expensive product on the shelf unless it's the best thing for you, and they'll often throw in samples for free with your purchase.

Generally I do prefer people a little more down to earth and relaxed, but they're definitely friendly none the less. And they also write down what they've done with your hair each time, so you've got a good starting point when you come in next time, or when you need to see a different stylist if yours happens to be on leave. There are also nice touches, like when you have your hair washed, you sit in a massage chair, and in addition to the normal scalp massage, they also give you a neck massage, which is lovely. You're offered water, coffee, tea & juice, intermittently throughout. And if it's your first visit, you usually get a free gift of hair products.
