Cemile is legit and knows what she's doing, period. Like... best colorist I have come across maybe ever.
Look... I am not an easy hair customer. I pretty much leave close to tears every time I go to a salon (and I'm from New York City where we are supposed to have the best stylists). I usually have to come back at least once to get them to fix something. My hair lifts super warm which means I end up with orange or at least brassy hair most of the time unless all I'm doing is getting a single process dark color (which is never what I'm doing, by the way).
So anyway, I go in to Hair Mafia with a somewhat complicated hair problem. I have dark ashy brown roots (my natural color), then a layer of dyed warm brown, leading into my warm brassy blonde (which another salon left me with). So she's basically gotta get my blonde, my dyed brown, and my natural brown all the same color. I had it in the back of my mind that this might be a problem but I wasn't tripping.
HOWEVER... she comes to check the foils mid-way and tells me that the part that was dyed brown is lifting kinda orange. UH-OH. I begin to freak out. The word "orange" triggers all my hair trauma and I begin preparing for the worse... if it's bad we can just cover it all in black. Whatever it takes not to look like a freak. My mid is cycling through worst case scenarios. It's not because I'm totally crazy... it's because seriously my hair is complicated to color and I usually always have problems and I've just been through a lot before... and I am not feeling optimistic.
But she's calm. She's confident. She's optimistic. She adds bleach to the area that's turning orange... one foil at a time she unwraps and adds bleach. Then she waits... and waits... and waits. And then she adds some more bleach and waits some more. And then finally she's satisfied and we rinse and tone and I can tell she's a little worried about me because she, total sweetie that she is, keep scrunching her forehead and asking if I'm ok. I probably have a terrified look on my face as I wait to see the results.
Well, let me just tell you, my hair turned out AWESOME. Basically it's exactly what I hoped for but was afraid I'd never get. And it's not even damaged. I can't even transmit the extent of my relief. I left the salon feeling beautiful. She even blew it out perfectly (which never happens... I always have to go home and re-style it myself after a salon visit.)
Ok, by now you have probably decided I'm the pickiest person in the world when it comes to my hair. You might be right. And that's just further evidence that this salon is legit. They are the real deal.
And I didn't even mention the atmosphere which is super playful and friendly. Everyone is smiling. Everyone looks like cool people who I would trust to style me. A+ all around. read more
