Earlier in the day it's not as bad, even with Zumba (8:00 on Saturdays). There's another small lot further down by the baseball fields. The indoor basketball court is in relatively decent shape. The bathrooms are "closed for renovations" but the ones in the multipurpose room (where Zumba is held) is open. It's strange coz you'd have to walk through the kitchen of sorts to get there. There are a few picnic tables outside the multipurpose rooms. There murals on the walls are faded but they must have been pretty cool in their day. Unfortunately there are leaks; must have rained overnight. The indoor basketball court is one of the better maintained areas in this park. 4 stars for indoor court, 3.5 stars overall from my couple of daytime visits and impression.

Little known Hawaii State park a few minutes from Pearl Ridge. I think a lot of people don't know…read moreabout this park because they think it's part of the Navy housing nearby. Likes: 1. no crowds on the weekdays. 2. Cleaned daily. Bathroom and park benches. 3. The view of Pearl Harbor, Ford Island, Arizona Memorial and the Mighty Mo. 4. Nice and quiet place to enjoy a plate lunch. Lots of good eats. Forty Niner Restaurant is just a short walk away. 5. Ample parking. I don't face any issue parking here. Other: 1. Like many parks in Hawaii please watch out for theft. Lock your cars and make sure valuables aren't in sight. Signs are posted.

If climbing trees is your thing, then come. If you want to kick, throw balls around.. those options are there. Lay a mat under the trees while reading a good book or cloud watching... Kids want a playground? Yes.. something for all. Bring a grumpy friend up and push them down the slope.

This has literally been our home away from home lately. With soccer practices, soccer games, and a…read moreconvenient playground and restrooms here, we have been coming here roughly 3-4 days a week recently. I grew up in the area and never spent so much time here until now. It's a well taken care of and clean park. Lots and lots of parking stall, and lots of street parking as well. This park can get downright crazy on the weekends with all the clubs and sports that go on here. Two gripes though: 1. We recently notices that parts of the playground have been deteriorating and is in dire need of a fixing, before someone gets hurt. Always check out the playground before you let your kids play on it. 2. We truly wish there was a restroom at the upper part of the park too, besides the one in the rec center that they don't allow anyone to use. It's an absolute pain to be at the playground with the littles, and all of a sudden one needs the restroom and you either have to walk all the way down and back up, or drive... ugh... Otherwise, we love this park!

Was here this past weekend(8/30/25) for my daughter's flag football game. We parked right outside…read morethe main building. She needed to use the restroom before her game. As we walked into the building, we were greeted by a sign saying "No Public Restrooms" I was a bit confused, cus I thought it was a public Building, Maybe I'm wrong. If any of you hunting for an awesome gem playground amongst Hawaii's unusually monotonous offerings of playgrounds, you will be no doubt read the 5-Star reviews and start heading there straight away with kid in car seat. Well, is it Shangri-La? or a mirage? Simply put: If you do not have a military pass--it is indeed inaccessible to you. Do not try. As I did. You and your kid will end up having to retreat to Keehi Lagoon Beach Park and lick your wounds at the solid/adequate playground there. Yea, we did try to drive to Sand Park. And no amount of cuteness from our 2 year old could deter the rifle wielding guards from accessing their private playground! A foreign national would have had a lot easier time sneaking onto Mar-a-Lago while a president golfed there. The base guard, smartly, held on to my ID as we navigated the turn around to leave--and only gave my Civilian ID back to me once I was pointed in the right direction--back towards Nimitz underpass, where i had come from. I've heard from others this place is awesome. But be sure to go with one of our hard working military friends if you actually want to arrive there. :) And also, it may be an observation, but perhaps most of the playgrounds in Hawaii seem to be one of two pre-set versions of a playground. As if we got a bulk discount for buying Playground A, B, and nothing more. Perhaps the military bases had a different contractor--thus why they may have something new/different compared to the normal parks?

Nothing was set up and every one we asked didn't know where field 1 was. Many parents and even coaches were in limbo as where to park, unload and wait. The first game we came to watch was finally set up one minute before game time. The second game 2 hours later had a mixup on fields and no team to challenge. What a mess. The lowest field is actually where we were supposed to be although we checked the middle and highest tiers too. For little kiddies the restroom facilities is a long walk up to the second level. So very glad the rest of the games except one were back at our regular home park where all 3 fields are on the same level: ground. Might be a good place to jog or walk and not sure if dogs are allowed but could be a spacious area to play frisbee or teach your kiddo to throw a football or to practice driving.

Convenient for families there are three separate level fields. Great for practicing sports or just spending time flying kites or racing toy cars. They also offer Zumba classes on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Karate on Monday and Fridays too I believe. Ample parking along the side street on the way up and the bottom and top parking lots. They also just repainted the lines so it's easier to park. My kids all play soccer here on Saturdays and we come here to exercise or cardboard slide down the hills. Nice getaway in the heart of salt lake.

Just your basic neighborhood park…read more Small baseball field on the top, open space in deep left field, and a long strip of open space below the baseball field. I pretty much grew up on the field and it within walking distance from my house so I still come back to throw baseball or whatever. And they do have a bathroom if that matters to you. Also, there aren't a lot of strange people hanging around the park, like you get at most other parks.

Moanalua Gardens is a nicely maintained wide open park with many large "Hitachi" monkeypod trees…read morespread out. Definitely more so a park than a garden. Been wanting to visit here for years as the last time was probably in elementary school for a field trip, and I forgot what exactly was here. It was closed during and after covid for years, then reopened to private functions only, and had no idea when it was reopened to the public. $10 for adults ($4 for Kama'aina and military) 7 for ages 6-12, under 6 (and Kama'aina and military) is free. Moanalua Gardens is conveniently located right next to the H-1 freeway. Heading westbound direction is very easy. Note: the parking entrance is literally right before the off ramp. Look for the "Moanalua Gardens" signs. Take the Tripler exit. Look for the entrance on the right. If you're on the off-ramp, you passed it. But that's okay! You can make a right (H-1 eastbound, you'll make a left at the Triper off-ramp), then left on Mahiole St, and turn in the next driveway. You'll drive through the service entrance to the parking lot. Plenty of parking! Pay at the entrance kiosk where they also sell snacks and drinks. Once inside, there's a moss/algae and leaf filled pond. There's koi fish, but the water is dark and murky, you can barely see their bright colors. King Kamehameha V's cottage that looks like a like a usual house. A Chinese style structure that looks like it has seen better days. Both are not accessible. As for the rest, the "Hitachi" monkeypod trees are all well maintained. Even though, there's PLENTY of monkeypod trees around the island, there's not many that's grown in this wide, umbrella shaped figure with branches close to the ground. Overall, it's cool to see the umbrella shaped Hitachi trees in a wide open, park-like space, but the other areas are not very well-maintained. There's not much else to do with some places restricted making it difficult to appreciate the history and importance. Charging $10 regular entrance fee, even the $4 Kama'aina fee, isn't worth it to just go in a what is basically a park. Isn't Hitachi paying atleast $400,000 per year to use the image of the tree in their advertising?

Entree fees are a bit pricey if u not a kamaaina @ $10, so minus a star. Restrooms available, no food or drink to buy, so bring your own bentos and mat,only about 4 tables. And its hawaii, so ants and flies!
