Mary is an artist, so there is always a new touch -- a new floor painting, a new decorate item, a new bed -- something, always something. The food is always wonderful. They use the freshest of ingredients and you can even have your breakfast delivered to your room. If you are visiting in Northwest Iowa, be sure you stay at the Hannah Marie at least once! The lake is a block away and the stroll along the lake and into the park was tranquil, quiet and clean. Breakfast was wonderful (and huge!). Chris gave us a tour of the home and the history. We were able to see every other guest room and all were beautiful. This was our first time to Storm Lake, but we will most definitely return and stay at The Gables. We would have loved to have had more time to explore the antique shops and nice downtown - next time! (If you love antiques, Walnut is only a little over an hour away..........the entire town is antique stores and you must stop at Roberts Bakery!)

We stayed in a suite with a jetted tub and fireplace-a treat during the cold Iowa winter. I highly recommend staying around Christmas time as the house was decorated with charming Christmas decor. The thing that sets this place apart from other bed and breakfasts we have stayed in was the incredible breakfast! Joan is an amazing cook and provided us with a 3 course breakfast of parfaits, mint and cranberry scones, and a breakfast pizza with bacon. Everything is elegantly put together and made me really sad I couldn't eat but a few bites by the last course. Luckily we were provided with to-go containers for us to enjoy later.

We were pleasantly pleased and impressed! Dreamy Victorian/country decor and design. It's spacious and has a neat history! -Interesting use of closets to create bathrooms too! Lynne made us feel at home. She welcomed us at the door upon arrival, gave us a tour, we visited a little, then she gave us our privacy to enjoy. We had a loosely-planned schedule that took us to Ida Grove for wine tasting, a terrific meal, sight seeing and some hiking.  In the evening, we made a point to spend time on the porch at the B&B to sip some wine in some pleasant June weather. It was relaxing! Lynne, knowing these plans from our conversation upon arrival, was so thoughtful and left out two wine glasses along with a corkscrew to open our bottle of wine that evening. Breakfast on Sunday morning was delicious and delightful at a table next to paned windows overlooking the side yard.  We couldn't have been happier! We now have an amazing memory that we will share and tell for years to come! We think the price was very affordable! In fact, we plan to come back in the fall. A few weeks ago, we joined a high school friend and his wife on Friday night for Dinner and a Show. My friend loves this place and was staying here for the weekend. It was more like a fancy suite. This place also happens to be a long walking distance to my friend's childhood home in Superior. The food was OK, service was friendly and fast, the white wine was very good, and the band (who played a medley of popular songs) was a lot of fun. It was a great kick off get together in front of our Estherville High School 50th Reunion (Class of 1974) on that Saturday.

There's bedding and plenty of extra towels and washcloths...The host's of this lodging are simply amazing. They went above and beyond for all of us Travel Nurses. Even down to inviting us to enjoy dinner for a birthday celebration. If your in the Spirit Lake Area this is the cleanest lodging close to the water. It's on a quite country road so traffic is minimal. The pricing holy smokes... is unbelievably reasonable and you won't find anything in this area for the bang for the buck or Amenities...this place And the owners are top notch through and through...I'd recommend this place above any place in this area...the lake is less than a mile and there's plenty of places to eat near by...you won't regret it the stay...

If you are a golfer, you're going to love the action across the street at the Emerald Hills Golf Course. The inn is a restored historical farm house from the local area. The innkeepers, Donna and Ann Muilenburg, spared no cost when it came to luxurious linens, outstanding decor, and quality furnishings. The restoration turned a simple farm house into a cozy and comfortable inn. I love it that the sheets are a high-count Egyptian Cotton and as soft as you will find in the most expensive hotels around the world. Oh, so very soft! Annabelle's Suite, located on the first floor, is my favorite room at the inn. It has its own sun room where you can lounge in in PJs and just enjoy the beauty of the sun setting or rising.
