I actually don't drink milk tea that much. My girlfriend has me buy her drinks so much, that now I have sworn off milk tea. However, Half and the Half is the single exception. There drinks are great, topping are great, and even better. Science. The bottom of their drinks are hot and the top is cold. Absolutely mindblowing. No other boba place has this beautiful tea making technique. But my biggest problem is that, WHY CAN I NOT FIT MY DRINK INTO MY CUP HOLDER. I know I'm not the only one with this problem because I've been in many cars with Half and Half and NONE OF THEM CAN FIT YOUR CUPS!?!?!?!? HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO DRIVE WHILE DRINKING. What we got: Strawberry Slush($4): I didn't know what to get so I would usually get this. It was way to watery for me and didn't have that strawberry taste to me so that made me disappointed. Some kind of milk tea with honey boba, but I forgot the name of it($3). As for my bf, his drink had a very strong tea taste which I didn't like at all. I'm not a tea person so yeah. However! When you are in dire need of a caffeine fix to get you hyped up for the day, Half & Half is still my boba place of choice. The lines are finally much more manageable and the service has improved tremendously. They changed their signature wide cups a few years ago, so they're now slimmer and taller, but I like it, as the cups finally fit my cup holder inside my car! Prices are still extremely reasonable, even though I spotted a sign saying they're doing an increase soon. Nonetheless, it's worth it for me - I love super strong tea and authentic toppings...and this place has both! :) I recommend the oolong milk tea or almond milk tea with either honey boba, egg pudding, grass jelly...or a combo of them all if you're feeling adventurous! read more

I'm writing this because they don't know how to incorporate costs on what they're selling. After buying 4 drinks, they still need to charge $.05 for a bag! I am not skimping on 5 cents but at least just give the bag since I already spent $24 with you. It is just like ordering something online for free shipping. You know too well that there's no such thing as free shipping but somehow the price is justified. Your drink is about $6. Your cost per drink is not even $1 for sure. I used to not be a fan of half and half because of their MPK location, but this location makes awesome drinks. I'm a big milk tea fan, but their iced milk drinks are a must get here. I personally think they're better than the milk teas. In terms of milk teas, the osmanthus milk tea is pretty good. In terms of iced milk, the pudding and boba iced milk is good, but if you want a kick of caffeine in your drink, try the coffee jelly with boba. Their coffee jelly isn't sweet, but is very strong in coffee flavor and has a bit of a bitter after taste. It really helps balance out the drink since the boba is so sweet. Their boba is awesome. It is always warm and sugar coated. Super chewy and doesn't get hard in cold drinks compared to some other boba places I've been to. Boba texture is always consistent here. During the summer, they have an awesome free upgrade to large size. Last year, they had signs stating so, but when I went yesterday, I didn't see any signs. The cashier did ask if I wanted to upgrade to large for free though. Note that the upgrade is only per customer. So if you go with someone else and order 2 drinks, they will give you 2 free upgrades. If you go alone and order 2 drinks, only one of the drinks get a free upgrade. read more

this place was poppin'. it was so crowded people could barely walk around in the inside of the store. we wanted something non caffinated so we went with the longan milk tea. bad mistake! the longan milk tea 'to put it in simpler terms' just plain gross. the drink was sweet already and the longan just made it sweeter. if you want diabetes for christmas, make sure to get this drink. we also got the chocolate brick toast. this is comparable to guppies brick toast and also takes the same amount of time to cook it. the brick toast was nothing to rave about. Had to try the honey boba to see if it was spectacular. It was really good, but not incredibly different than other boba places. It was a 30 minute wait at 2PM on a Sunday. The iced milk tea with honey boba had very nice flavor, but the tea was little bit too strong for me. Taro ice milk tea was sweet but not very refreshing because it was not cold enough. Didn't meet my expectations! I was expecting my boba to be made out of Gold or maybe Unicorn Tears from the long line (about half to an hour long). People are totally suckers for a fad. Waiting in line for 30 mins just to order, then waiting another 30 mins to get your order. For a milk tea drink!!! Just horrible disappointed and will not go back. I rather go to a real tea place like Ten Ren or Tea Station and get better quality drinks. I love how the cups are so big here! ...except that it doesn't fit in my cupholder! There was such a long line and because the place is pretty small, it was really crowded! I tried their green milk tea, which was delish! I had it with taro pudding which made it even yummier. I love that they put crushed ice in their drinks! My sister had the honey green milk tea, which was a lot sweeter but also very yummy. Their boba was a little bit too hard, though. Hopefully it will be softer next time. I had to update my review, still one star, I gave it one more chance, still the same. I ordered iced green tea easy on the ice, simple as that. OUCH, that was not tea, it was ice water. where was my tea? So my conclusion is, people who love their drinks here, they love milk, WHOLE milk, a cup of whole milk with boba or double boba, pudding or any other things in there, they don't really need to taste any tea flavors! Hm...the more stuff i try, the less convinced I am that this is my to go spot. So far I have always ordered the "regular" and i have never been able to finish it cuz it really is huge. So the price you can say is worth while (usually $4 if u want all the goodies) if you can finish it. I thought it was just flavored barley but omg, the barley grains will expand in water and you will eventually be drinking cereal out of the huge straw. I thought it was gonna be the size of the lychee jelly. There was not enough ice in the drink, and you can see the separation of milk and tea, so if your straw was a bit on higher side, you'd be tasting milk and I don't like milk. But if you shake the cup too much, your honey boba becomes hard instead of warm and soft. ** FINAL VERDICT ** So with all my experience and other drinks ordered, I think this will now be a novelty for me instead of a "to go" place everytime I am in the area. No thanks to $4 drinks and after 10 stamps u only get a freebie worth $2.85!! Cmon!!! With all the $$ they make, at least give us "ANY DRINK" for free after our 10 Stamps and spending almost $40.00 or more. And one more annoying thing....those who phone in can anytime just cut line (which is great for phone callers), but is annoying if you had no idea you could cal in and will stand in the 30 mins line wondering.... what the hell, did he/she just cut me? Also, if anyone calls, the cashier will pick phone and serve the caller as long as it takes to get order right while you are still standing in the 30 min line. They need to have some other person take the order on phone (maybe the ones making drinks) since it is kind of rude to let us stand 30 mins and ignore us while serving the phone callers. Maybe because I'm not from a boba-enriched town so I think it's AMAZING but for the price, quality AND size I pay for at Half & Half, it is worth it! I ordered the caramel pudding milk tea with honey boba and it was sweet and tasty :) I wasn't a fan of the pudding in the end but in that big ass "regular" size cup (really is a bowl), it was getting quality AND quantity. FOOD QUALITY: Is mixed more thoroughly and so it doesn't taste as powdery. Even then, tea is not really high quality or strong. ENVIRONMENT: I'll give them props for having a lot of seating here though, and you can (COUGHhypotheticallyCOUGH) bring in your phoenix drinks here and sit in the corner where you can't be seen! It came out super strong, and was basically undrinkable. Should've told them to remake it, but I'd have to wait another half hour to get my drink. I ended up throwing most of it in the trash. I've been going to Half and Half for like 2 years now and I think this place revolutionized the way your Boba Milk tea is served. I mean like i still get the 'dude, this is hella good' feeling after drinking this for the past 2 years. Of course my review is based on their Iced Milk drinks, I haven't really tried the other ones because I enjoy their milk tea alot. I can confidently say that this place has the best Boba in Los Angeles and i'm not a big fan of Boba neither. All I can say is try anyone of their Iced Milk drinks that includes Honey Boba and you won't be dissapointed! Here's a few bad parts about this place: - It's packed - if you plan to pick up a drink here, please allocate 30 minutes of your time waiting for your drink. - No tables - They have a few tables at other location, but this place is togo only. If you plan to chill here with your friends, tough luck. (unless you like chilling on the curb side of the parking lot) - Cash only - it's 2011, get with the program and stop being cheap! My first time having boba milk tea from Half & Half was satisfying. This boba milk tea was quite different from other bobas that I've tried from places such as Guppy Tea House and Tapioca Express. It was sweeter compared to these other boba milk teas, but personally, I like sweet things! If you're not too fond of sweets, then this might be a little too much for you. I've had different boba milk teas here, and they're all really good. I haven't exactly had anything but that, maybe because I just love boba . Haha. One problem with this place is the wait.. There is always a line, but it doesn't necessarily always extend to the front door. The longest I've waited was maybe around 30 minutes, and the shortest I've waited was maybe 5 minutes before I got to the cashier to order. This place is generally busy throughout the entire day, but sometimes you'll get lucky and find a good hour to come. I don't quite know that perfect hour when there isn't a long wait, but hopefully I'll list that out soon when I figure it out. My recommendation would be to get the honey boba and pudding milk tea. This is one of their popular boba milk teas, but of course, there are other flavors in the menu as well. Take a look at the menu, and just try whatever sounds good to you! I haven't been here in a long time though. The cups look so cute and lovely. It is kind of expensive for a drink though-maybe close to 3,4 dollars,but I think it is worth a try. The service is not too slow or not too fast. My mom got the hot milk tea with boba and I got the strawberry black tea with boba in it. The strawberry was so good and yummy, and the boba tasted so chewy and fun. My mom said the milk tea tastes better cold rather than hot. Milk drink with egg pudding and caramel. It was a good drink, just a bit too sweet for my taste. Next time, I'll get it with less sugar. Good thing is that their portions are humungous. However, after coming back, I see that the little boba shop has changed for the better! The cups can now fit in my car's cup holder, the place is open all week, and they now accept card. Quality wise, the drinks taste smooth and non-powdery. As well, the boba is warm and the right consistency of chewy that tapioca should be at! As well, this location offers very flexible drink customizations such as: Adjusted sugar, ice, and topping amount. I just want to write a bit more about Half and Half Tea House Express. I would say that I kinda don't ever need to go back to Tea Station now that Half and Half is open because the price are actually reasonable and the drinks are great. It isn't as great as the legit one in San Gabriel but for how close it is to my house....I love it :) There are plenty of drinks you can get here and there are some snacks(brick toasts) and such to get. Personally, It wouldnt be a nice place to hang out because it is "EXPRESS" so there aren't legit seating in the place. Anyway for the regular size drinks they give you...it is freaking huge. This place is located in the Target Plaza next to Phoenix. Came here on MLK Day on a Monday & it was packed. The line went out the door! My friend and I waited around 20 minutes to get to the cashier and I ordered the Iced Milk w/ Pudding and Honey Boba (3.89?), I got a Large (+1$) cause I was driving back to Riverside that day and I wanted my drink to last. My friend ordered a Iced Milk w/ Chocolate, Pudding & Honey Boba. NOTE: The flavors, Chocolate, Strawberry, Caramel etc. mean that they add SYRUP in your drink, not Chocolate flavored pudding or Strawberry pudding or whatever. I loved how the boba was kind of QQ just the way I like it! My friend didn't like chewy boba though so I guess it's up to your tastes. If you like really soft boba, I suggest you go to Little Bean in Pacific Plaza on Colima in the castle plaza. Their boba is cooked for soo long so when you order it's fresh/warm/mushy/soft & nasty cause I hate soft boba. But I guess if you like soft boba that's chewy like mochi then whatever. On the other hand, their pudding was disappointing. I'm used to drinking the kind of mushy pudding from Ten Ren or Lollicup where the pudding has tiny tiny air bubbles in it to make it more soft, but the pudding in Half & Half is really smooth & not that soft. Kind of like the jello in those tiny cups you buy at the asian supermarket that's flavored w/ lychee and stuff. It barely tasted like pudding too.
