It was a Saturday evening, so they were fairly busy; however a table was ready for us within 15 minutes. I ordered the 2 meat combo plate - chicken and turkey with mac and cheese and green beans. Surprisingly I loved the turkey more than the chicken! They have 3 housemade sauces at each table, my favorite being the cola sauce. The Mac and cheese was tart and was my favorite side. My frozen strawberry daiquiri was super refreshing to enjoy on their patio. There was also a band playing during dinner that tied the patio atmosphere together. Half Liter Beer & BBQ Hall will always be one of our go-to spots for BBQ in Indianapolis -- dare I say one of the best? I usually order the brisket grilled cheese because it's absolutely next level, but this time I decided to switch it up and go with the meat combo plate. We started with the brisket queso. I do wish there had been a bit more queso for the amount of chips, but it was still super tasty. My husband ordered the pimento patty melt with baked beans and a large beer -- not a crumb left on his plate. I went with the pulled pork combo with cucumber onion salad and mac and cheese, plus a house margarita. Everything we've had here is consistently a 10/10. During the warmer months, their beer garden is such a fun place to hang out. I went with a friend in a very nice day, so we sat outside on the porch. The porch is massive and held many people (dogs, screaming kids, you name it!) Located in Broad Ripple this Beer Hall is a fun place to enjoy some bbq! It's connected to Liter House other than that I can only say that the burnt ends, Texas toast, brined vegetables and banana pudding were all fantastic!! The burnt ends were so good and smokey and I liked the bbq sauces you could try and you can buy them also. The Carolina mustard one was my favorite. The banana pudding mmmm so good! I only wish they didn't add cinnamon on top of it. I've never had it with cinnamon on it before. I scraped it off. It's huge hall with lots of picnic tables and tables. I am rarely in the mood for barbecue but my friends and I were in town and saw good reviews on Yelp so we decided to give it a chance. I'm so glad we did. We walked in and it was very busy but if I recall correctly the wait wasn't too bad. I figured since it was very busy then that means the food must be good. I am still thinking of the food to this day because it was that good! I tired the brisket with Mac and cheese and coleslaw. Everything was just perfect. The brisket tasted like it was smoked that morning so you know it is fresh. The portions were pretty big. I was not able to finish everything. Honestly, really damn good food. Started out with the soft pretzel, which was soft, warm and buttery (all you can ask for!). The queso and pimento cheese that came with it were awesome. For mains, we got the ribs and the brisket grilled cheese. Both phenomenal. The brisket grilled cheese is a MUST! I ordered some pimento cheese on the side to load it up and that was perfect for me. The ribs were slightly overcooked, but still delicious with the bbq cola sauce. For sides we got mac and cheese, fries and the mashed potatoes. The fries are the best! The mac and cheese had potential to be good but the noodles were overcooked, and I much prefer mine to be al dente. Mashed potatoes were standard! Service was great too, food came out fast! Great outside patio and the sun was shining today. It was a little bit breezy, but it was a great day to get out there. A lot of people were there and also a couple brought their dogs so it's definitely a dog friendly location. Service was a little spotty at first and hard to get orders. I sat down with a table for four and asked for waters and she brought me two instead of four and never came back until my friend arrived, and we called her back after that she was relatively attentive, but we kept having to re-ask for the things that we ordered . She was really friendly though and it was a nice day so that made up for the time issues, my friends ordered drinks I stuck with the water and then I had a Havarti melt with artichoke hearts and other veggies and put pulled pork on it. It was delicious. I had a wedge salad and they were a little heavy handed with everything but the bagel seasoning on top. If I've known it was even on there, I wouldn't of asked for it. I had to scrape it off. The dressing was delicious and our time was really pleasant there. I enjoyed this trip much more than the last one. Also, the guys bringing out the food did not know where they were supposed to go brought us a couple things that were not ours and took them away and also when our food did come, they didn't realize it was. Ours asked us and then walked away and we had to get our Waitress again to go find out where they took the food that they had brought. It was a little confusing, but it all worked well in the end. Despite it being busy due to the nice weather that day, we didn't wait long for us to be seated. While it was nice outside, it was too windy for us to want to sit outside, so we asked to be seated inside. We were seated near the bar at a picnic-style table that was very clean, neat and tidy with condiments, paper napkins, and cloth-napkin-wrapped silverware. The rest of the restaurant seemed clean as well. It was very busy and lively inside. I loved the open design and the deco around the restaurant. It was nice and bright. There were a few TV's on the wall showing the latest basketball game being played. There was an eclectic blend of music playing. Some country, some rockabilly, and some of what my wife refers to as garage band music. We were greeted by our server, Hunter, within a few short minutes after being seated. I ordered Diet Coke and my wife ordered a beer. For my entree, I had the brisket grilled cheese. It was loaded with tender and juicy smoked and shredded brisket, smooth and melty provolone cheese, and a nice and tangy Dr.Pepper bbq sauce all on perfectly toasted white bread. There were thickly sliced, crunchy dill pickle chips on the side that I snacked on and kept asking for more of because they were so good. I had a side of green beans that was nice and savory having been cooked with bacon and bits of pork. My sandwich was mouthwateringly good, I didn't want it to end. I loved the green beans as well. My wife had a combo that consisted of a quarter pound of savory smoked brisket on white bread with dill pickle chips and pickled red onions on the side and she chose a side of creamy and cheesy 4-cheese mac and collards. She put a little bit of one of the bbq sauces on her brisket; there are 2-3 different kinds of bbq sauce in squeeze bottles on the table. She loved her food! Everything we had was perfectly cooked and seasoned. After dinner, I needed to use the restroom. It was nice and clean and had several different pictures of Dolly Parton on the walls in the bathroom. The only small issue I have is that there is only one soap dispenser for two sinks and it's to the left of one of the sinks making it difficult for the person at the right-hand sink to reach when someone's at the left-hand sink. Good food, friendly service, welcoming open atmosphere, clean, and good music. All in all a wonderful visit! We will always return here for great bbq! read more

I wanted to like this place BUT: 1. The waitress told me the cans of beer were 16oz before ordering it - wrong...only 12oz which makes beer extra expensive. 2. The either the waitress input the wrong BBQ order or the kitchen sent out the wrong order and after we told her about it, she quickly corrected it. BUT the problem was we were charged for both. 3. The Wheat beer tasted like a hoppy IPA. I asked if it was similar to a Hefeweizen and the waitress was clueless on the house beers (odd for a brewery's staff not to know the taste and flavor profiles of their own beers). Nope...not a hefe or anything close to it. 4. The bill was simply the total cost asking floor a tip - I thought that it was probably accurate for a 5 person bill so I paid it - but I did ask for a paper receipt and after reviewing it in my car later, that's when I discovered that they charged me for their mistake. The brisket -- lean, with a big beef nose -- lacked the smoke and spice I expect from true Texas‑style 'cue. Shell macaroni swam in a rich, cheesy sauce, and the fried biscuits were a sweet‑leaning, golden‑brown triumph. A spread of sauces rounded things out; the spicy Texas‑style and mustard were my favorites. Bottom line: come for the whiskey wall and the good‑time vibe. The BBQ? I chose the Pastrami Kimchi Melt with a side of the hot honey Brussels sprouts. What a great meal - large enough for me to take home for tonight's dinner. There were two waiters covering the outside area so we were well served. The inside seating offers tall ceilings to diffuse the sound. We got there around 11:30 and by noon they were packed. Ummm hello summer time outdoor dining and live music. Count me in. I came to Half Liter over the summer to celebrate a friend's birthday and the outdoor ambience was perfect. Picnic style dining for our group of 10, with friendly wait staff and great live music. I ordered a summer menu item, a salad with brisket, blackberries, and candied pecans. When I tell you I talk about this salad constantly, I mean it. Ask any of my friends and they will tell you it lives rent free in my head. The food was fantastic!! The beer was good, Big Lug is a decent Indy brewery. They do have some variety which is nice. They have some pretty cool cocktail options and a gigantic whiskey and bourbon selection that is very impressive!! The space is laid out really well, roomier upstairs and outside than the main floor. We were greeted immediately and shown to a table. There were 4 in our party. We were placed next to a very loud party of 14-20 people. We could not hear each other talk over the big group. It was special tenderloin night $10 for tenderloin sandwich and side I chose Brussels sprouts for my side and they were delicious. The tenderloin was hamburger size. It was breaded with a cornmeal mixture and served on an in house bun. The beer was outstanding and brewed in house. Our waiter was very pleasant and willing to make our meal enjoyable. Although this is an outside dining spot where you can bring dogs, there is also a lot of smoking going on within dining locations. One lady from the big group smoked behind my back. About 12 inches from where I was eating. ( I didn't need a beer after she exhaled on me. ) I have been here before and enjoyed it but there was enough smoking that I won't be going back. The food was good, the wait staff super friendly and there is plenty of parking. In addition it is located on the monon. Good place to take your CV dog and enjoy special beer. read more

Great BBQ and beer selection while dining in a fun community environment. I really love the sense of openness that comes with the patio area at Half-Liter. You can step 10 feet off of the Monon Trail and be at a picnic table with friends enjoying a meal. Plenty of space outside to move around and for dogs and kiddos to have some room. This feels like someone has opened their back patio to all of SoBro to enjoy. As a meat-eater, I can't stop ordering the brisket from this place. It's really tasty and they have some great sauce options (and one or two that are subpar). I also have been having their wings a lot lately and I have to say, they are some of the best wings that I've ever had. These are full of flavor before adding sauce. I have tried a variety of sides from Half-Liter and they have all been great. I personally enjoyed the hot honey brussel sprouts the most. This place gets really busy on nice days so service does tend to feel a little slow. The servers do a great job at keeping up and the last couple of times I have gone, we have been served our food way sooner than I had expected. If you are interested in a place for community, cold beer, and kickass BBQ, then I highly suggest making time to get to Half-Liter. read more

If you've never visited, this place really is a "Hall", it's pretty big and during warmer weather, they have live entertainment on their patio area - they also have garage door seating! Our server was nice but our food wasnt really impressive. My cider was tasty but it didn't create a buzz, not really worth the $11 they charge for it. My friends had the nachos and the brisket grilled cheese while I had their Turkey sandwich with potato salad. I was very disappointed in the potato salad, it just wasn't very good and the Turkey sandwich was okay at best. We agreed we would love to come back for the live music but I would most likely try something else on the menu. read more

My wife's burnt ends dinner was fine. I got the Combo platter, pulled pork, and 2 sides of mac & cheese. I wanted to mix them together to make BBQ mac & cheese. The pulled pork was only lukewarm. The brisket was horrible .. fatty, and the first piece was so tough it was not tender at all. The pulled pork was a little better but that's not saying much. This is a great spot to grab something to eat and drink. It is located right of the Monon trail which is super convenient if you are walking or biking on the trail. They have a ton of outdoor seating where we saw a lot of families and dogs enjoying the atmosphere. We opted to sit inside as it was a warm day.
