Halfords have long had a well deserved reputation for poor service, lack of staff knowledge and expensive pricing. I still used them however as I am fortunate enough to qualify for a trade card which made pricing on many items competitive with the trade pricing in other motor factors. Recently however they have revised this and the trade discount is so minimal (5% on a car battery, no discount on certain wiper blades and minimal on tooling) that the resulting price is still at least 15% more expensive than the retail price anywhere else and around 40% more expensive than comparable trade prices elsewhere. Needless to say I'm now done with Halfords as there is no reason whatsoever to purchase from them except in cases of extreme emergency. read more

I booked a bike service online and got confirmation of a time for six o'clock... I checked online for store opening times.. was opened until 9pm. Arrived at 5 to six to a qué at the bike desk to get announcement the store is closing. The staff checked the bike visual inspection and offered to book the bike in for service. Took details and then went to tag my bike they wanted to keep my bike for a whole week for couple of tightening procedures and said he didn't know when the technician was available... Clueless or rather couldn't give a rats ass ... Either way I would avoid this store in future. read more

They had the best price on a car seat I wanted and that's where the positives end. I phoned up the Blanch branch to check if they had one on display to try it out, the guy on the phone tried to tell me the type of car seat didn't exist, I told him to go check and he was at least apologetic when he found it did exist and was located in the same shop as him. We went in to try out the car seat with our son and had to ask one of the assistants to cut the plastic tie off the buckle for us to try it, the shop was busy but he was quite rude as we'd clearly taken him away from something more important, and he then rolled his eyes as he nearly fell over my 3 year old in his rush to get away. A few days later I phoned to check the car seat is in stock as I wanted to buy it, it was not in stock so the guy on the phone told me he would order it from head office, be about a week. 10 days later I phone to check, no sign of the order. I gave the name of the man I ordered it from only to, the next day, get a voicemail from him to say he'd been on holidays and had a note to ring me about the car seat "don't know why". Utterly useless. In stark contrast a nice young man in the Coolock branch went to the trouble of calling another customer who had one on hold and when they told him they didn't want it, he held it for me instead, took 30 mins to get sorted with them. read more

Came in twice today to buy a bike that I knew I wanted but unfortunately the staff on the first occasion to busy talking to each other to bother to help me and on the second occasion non existent. I gave up because of the amount of customers waiting. Have a word with your staff Halfords read more

Terrible. Can't even fit a rack properly. I left bike in to get a rack fitted. Unfortunately I assumed that it wouldn't be complicated and so didn't check the quality of the "work" in the shop. They added some weird metallic putty to my frame and completely destroyed the thread. Unsurprisingly the whole thing came loose in a couple of weeks. Just gross. Ordered a bike before the weekend there, someone from them called to me on Monday noon and asked when I will be collecting it- we've scheduled evening on the same day. When I'd get to the store I was informed that the bike will be ready for the next day..... no explanation, no sorry. No nothing. Not even worth my comment. Click&collect in one hour? Forget about it.
