This branch of Halfords is located on the outskirts of Stockton Town Centre, just next to Matalan. There is a free car park right outside. And that's the best thing I can find to say about this shop! OK, for those who care, they do sell lots of useful things for fixing or cleaning your car. They sell bikes and satnavs and other bits and bobs, too. However,the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. A couple of years ago I bought a satnav as a Christmas present and made a point of asking if it would be ok to return it if I had bought the wrong one (as it was to be a surprise and I didn't want to spoil the surprise by asking which model my husband actually wanted). Anyway, I was assured there would be no problem with returning it. And yet, when I did try to return it, the manager refused point blank to allow me to return it. It was a nightmare and we ended up having to involve head office (who were more understanding). However,the damage was done and I have never shopped in Halfords since. read more

After discovering I had a brake light out, I went over to Halfords, Stockton and was greeted in such a friendly manner I was passed onto Jess who's customer service is exemplary and a credit to your Company. She was friendly, efficent, professional and made me feel so welcome and changed by bulb. Service is excellent, sales person came over to check everything was alright, and explained the different hands free kits to us. We progressed and booked ourselves in for a fitting a couple of days later, as we needed to order in a lead. Received a phone call saying our lead arrived in stock and confirmed our fitting appointment. They had our car for 1:30 hours and when we returned the fitter paired up my phone and gave a demo on how it all worked. Very pleased with the product and the service we received read more

Terrible staff, was asked to leave store by a member of staff because I was testing the quality of a combination lock, I mean you wouldn't buy one which was easy to get the code.. he completely overreacted accusing me of trying to steal , said I was barred out of store, was asked to leave! I wouldn't recommend the place at all!! read more

Awful customer service - called in to ask them to refit a dashcam after changing cars. Couldn't get to speak to anyone who knew about dashcams as they were busy doing an install and we won't be able to get you in for 2 weeks anyway! I have recently used Halfords to get a cd player fitted in my new (well to me anyway) car. Staff were incredibly helpful and did not exploit my lack of knowledge and friends consulted later felt I had had good advise. As the stereo I chose was not in stock where I was getting it fitted the guy arranged for one from another store and when it was time for get it fitted, it was done quickly, cleanly and the guy was happy to give me a demonstration. There is plenty of parking at the Stockton store as it is based on a small industrial estate next to Matalan. It also opens into the evening and therefore possible to pop in after work. Worst customer service ever! There was some buffoon, who my husband assured me was some kind of Manager (?), dressed in shorts, yelling across the floor to his staff regardless of who they should have been speaking to. We swapped tills as the little girl on the first one was struggling to deal with her customer. The next till was manned by another young girl, who I guess was English, but will never know as she didn't speak a word to us! As we turned away we almost fell over a sun-glasses display which was positioned in the most ridiculous place. I commented on what rotten service it was to my husband, and he said It;s always like that - I won't be going back. The Manager needs to talk to his staff about their need to talk to their customers, not to each other, when they are serving. Very rude! read more

Halfords is located across the road from Stockton High Street, in a small retail outlet site. The store stocks a large range of car parts and accessories; which includes everything from pink furry dice (for those of us who like to decorate our cars!) to replacement wind screen wipers and engine oil. The staff are friendly and helpful and knowledgeable - excellent place to go if you need help with fitting a child's car seat! read more

Went to use the 'we fit' service for a bulb change on the main headlamp, it took 3 member of staff 42 minutes of me stood in the snow until they managed the job. I went on a Saturday and did get seved quickly. The following day, Sunday, I used my lights and the warning light is on, that they have not done the job correctly, so I will now have to drive back out of town to ask them to try and sort it out for me. I could understand if I had an unusual car, but surely a Punto is fairly standard. NOT HAPPY. read more

Too busy to answer the phone at this branch!! I took up their offer of replacing a headlight bulb on my Volvo V70 (as I know the front end has to come off to change it!), & I didn't fancy doing that as the weather was lousy! Ended up the lad being cocky & telling me "No Sweat!". An hour later we weren't any closer to getting this bulb fitted as he assured me he had a knack that didn't involve taking the car apart. Well his "knack"failed big time, lost my rag with him & used his tools & done myself (front end off/on), in 20mins. Bloody useless "mechanic" or wot!! read more
