I went to them with a problem of a half completed root canal with extreme pain and informed them straight away about my severe dentist anxiety thanks to a botched procedure years ago. The dentist tried to almost bully me into a quicker answer on whether I wanted him to perform an invasive and stressful procedure or not, so he could go for lunch (which we said he could have done and we'd have returned, but he insisted it had to be done RIGHT THEN). He then prescribed me antibiotics I have been assured since by medical professionals WOULD NOT HELP, and gave me a prescription that conflicted with a medication I had already informed him I take regularly. All in all, this was a severe waste of £60 that left me feeling embarrassed, disrespected, and completely unvalued. I would not recommend this clinic to an enemy. Also, it was far too cold in there. Air-con doesn't have to *always* be on.

Had the same dentist (Adnan Aslam), who was again lovely and not condescending. Then things got interesting when I fractured a cusp on a tooth that had a filling. I had been to see a dentist who is a friend of a friend and didn't want to insult him so went to him. He looked at it, gave me an appointment for 2 weeks later, cancelled because he was unwell, and then was going to be off for another 2 weeks over Easter. I decided to email All Saints. I was given a Saturday appointment with Adnan. Unfortunately, the slot he was given also didn't allow time to fix it...but, and here's the amazing thing, when he saw how frustrated I was he brought me back at 6pm and did the work. I was, and am, stunned. The assistants and receptionist also stayed late (on Easter Saturday) and couldn't have been sweeter. He does a fabulous consultation, isn't condescending at all (not a given), and did one of the best mandibular blocks I've had. And I've had many! Great job on the filling, so hoping I won't undo his work too soon... Massive thanks to all involved for relieving a huge amount of stress!

But when the pain in my molars got unbearable I had to book an appointment. I thought I'd try out this one because it's so close to home. It's a clean, professional practice. I couldn't help but notice how attractive the female staff were, who all seemed incredibly glamourous. I was seen by Dr Johal. He seemed to be more engaged in banter with his assistant than paying much attention to the patient in the chair - me! I went in complaining about pain in one tooth, I was told I need a filling in four teeth in all four corners of my mouth! It was ever so pricey so I settled for just the one filling, which he offered immediately. The pain reduced significantly but still shocks me from time to time.

I used to be a huge fan of this Dental Center when I lived in the UK and had a lot of work done as a private patient, meaning cash out my pocket as was not an NHS patient. Staff were always friendly, dentists and hygienist were great! Had to have a root canal. However, I have now gone to my American dentist who has said that the root canal never went the full length of the root which is now causing problems and needs redoing. In addition the amalgam used to fill was left jagged in between the teeth which is causing problems. It will now cost me just a little under 6k to have these amateur mistakes fixed. On top of it when I request to have my x-Rays and records forwarded on to my home dentist they want to charge me. Just really appalled and disappointed at the whole thing. Will be making a formal complaint, contacting the regulating body and ombudsman and possibly getting my solicitor involved. I feel they should entirely reimburse me for the mistakes!

When I was a student I had scoured my local NHS dentists, only to have my teeth butchered and then be robbed by the cost by the one most local to myself. The whole experience left me pretty traumatised and (I'm sorry to say) led me not to go to the dentist at regular intervals for a few years... On hearing about a fantastic private dentist (that just happened to be over the road from my old work), I decided it was time to get back on it and have my first appointment with this so-called magician... Well, they weren't wrong. I came across Dr Ruth in 2011 and haven't looked back. Smiles dental in the City Centre sadly closed down, but I was relieved to hear my favourite dentist had moved to a new practise in Solihull. Now, Solihull is a bit of a trek from us, but after some deliberation we decided we would make the journey (it is only about 30 minutes by car, after all) to go and check out the new clinic and get our 6 monthly checkups. First thing to note is that Smiles is now Oasis Dental care. Cue us, in the carpark very confused... We weren't told that Smiles had been bought out and wondered if we had come to the right place, luckily (after a brief phone call), we wandered inside in the nick of time for our appointments. The new building looks like an old converted Manor house. It has a little conservatory on the front of the building and the reception area has a TV and is clean, modern and fresh. We were greeted as if we were old friends and I was shown through the labyrinth of a building to the examination room. Unlike many dentists, these guys have a tool to "sandblast" your teeth with a nice tasting lemony concoction. I got the all clear and had my scale and polish within about 25 minutes (with Dr Ruth checking every aspect of my mouth for any warning signs). She explained every part of the process as she went and supplied me with warnings and tips as to where I might see work needing to be done later on. Once I had been sorted, I went to reception to pay. A scale and polish is £65 and the guys always supply the correct paperwork to enable a claim on health cover. The receptionist was helpful and friendly and we made our next appointment straight away. The venue gets bonus points as we were told we could leave our car in the generous car park whilst we pootled about Solihull (saving us a fortune in parking). This dentist may be a trek, but it's worth the journey for excellent care, great staff and a fantastically kitted out surgery. Bravo, Oasis.

After not going to the dentist for many years, mainly due to being unable to find a decent one locally that I could fit around work, there was no way I was going to let a good one slip through my fingers. So off to Solihull it was for me. Somewhat confused we (Vicky and I) arrived at what we thought was Smiles Dental on Manor Road in Solihull but instead of the familiar green logos emblazoning the place it had been replaced by cool blue signage and a new name - Oasis Dental Care. After some continued confusion all was put to rest as this was in fact the right place and our trusted dental surgeon Dr. Ruth was waiting for us inside with her usual beaming smile and hungry for updates on our wedding last July. After filling in a medical history form and a brief wait while Vicky went it I was called in. I honestly can't recommend the quality of service here enough. Yes, you may be able to get dental cover cheaper on the NHS but the overall care provided by Dr. Ruth and her team is second to none. My full treatment consisted of a check up as well as scale and polish - no mean feat with my mouth as I have inherited my father's hyper-sensitive gums (cheers Dad!) and as such a full gum numbing was required to really scrape away the inevitable detritus that builds up over 6 months. Even though the process is a bit uncomfortable (especially the lidocaine injection in the roof of the mouth - oww!) Dr. Ruth and the team make it as pleasant as possible and after about half an hour I left with my teeth feeling like new (well, they did when I could feel my mouth again!) and already booked in for my next appointment. Hell, they even let us leave our car there so we could have a bit of a wander into Solihull town centre. If you've spotted my review of the aforementioned Smiles before you'll know I can't recommend Dr. Ruth any more as a dentist. If you're on the lookout for someone to take care of your gnashers then there is probably nobody better to turn to.

A few months ago I had a second bridge crown fitted because of a terrible accident last year left me devastated - a bad fall that took all of a previous perfect bridge crown Geoff did for me was ruined! The fall meant that another bridge would have to be restructured differently because of damage to my other teeth. I never thought it would be possible to get the result I have today, thank you thank you Geoff. All through the treatment I never felt any pain or discomfort, he is such a brilliant dentist in fact all of his team and all the staff are lovely, they not only treat you with the greatest respect, they are so attentive and make you feel important and comfortable, they actually explain and talk you through the 'action plan' .... I don't normally do reviews (though I read them) but I feel so lucky to have found such a good dentist which I thoroughly recommend. I have Denplan Insurance cover which helped with my second bridge. Anyone looking for some good dental work - especially if nervous as I was, I would say go to DISTINCTIVE DENTISTRY, they actually do really care about their patients.
