I drove up to Sebastopol on Halloween, ahead of a special wineroad.com weekend event, and thought I'd looking for a wine tasting opportunity on November 1st. After a bit of searching online, I came across Halleck Vineyard, which offered a wine and small bites event for $65; so, I made a reservation. The intimate experience took place inside the Halleck home on the property. Two couples I didn't know joined me; and, wow...the wines, especially the Pinot Noirs, were phenomenal! Alison hosted, and she was great at making us feel like we were a part of the family. The small bites chosen to pair with the wines were carefully selected and awesome! Besides Alison, Harris Miner, Director of Sales, also happened to be there, and they answered all of our questions. I was so impressed, I joined the Inner Circle Wine Club! About a week after, I received a Club email from the Vineyard about a complementary wine and food event to be held at the Amarano Hotel in Burbank, CA on 11/17 (this past Sunday). Since I live near the San Fernando Valley, I talked my Brother-In-Law into joining me. As we walked into the lobby, there was Harris! He brought a Pinot Noir and their Sauv Blanc ( both yum), and the food served to complement the wines was fantastic! I'm so happy about my decision to visit them on the 1st. If you're ever in Sonoma County, GO! Wishing Happy Holidays to Alison, Harris, the Hallecks, and everyone else associated with this amazing Vineyard. You can bet their wines will be on my Thanksgiving and Christmas tables this year, and in the future. (-:

Highly recommend coming to this vineyard! Our wine expert Alison with one L was simply fabulous. She was super knowledgeable and excited to share her experiences with the wines. We were able to meet the owner of the vineyard and he was also lovely! At first you may think am I at the wrong place because you are turning down the driveway but you were not and this is the best place highly recommend and definitely will be back.

We really enjoyed our tasting at Halleck. It was our first stop on our Sonoma trip and quite possibly the best wine! Harris was wonderful, very informative and friendly! It was a beautiful setting, even on a cloudy day! The fog and clouds moved out just in time for us to get a glimpse of what a gorgeous view it would be on a clear sunny day! We will definitely recommend this winery to our friends and will be back ourselves!

Highly recommend Halleck to anyone coming to the Sonoma area. David was so knowledgeable and entertaining. This intimate group setting in the very own home of the founder of Halleck wines was an experience like no other! Bonus points for the well curated food pairing menu.

Visited for a guided tasting without knowing anything about the winery. Harris was an excellent host and I learned a lot about tasting wine and I was impressed about the history of the winery.

5 stars across! I cannot recommend this more in Somona! Family owned business and the wine was so delicious!

Wonderful place - wine has gotten much more expensive there in last few years though.

This business does not care about it's customers and is so impossible to reach it's almost comical…read more I was a long-term customer of Fog Crest. In 2024 we received a shipment of wine where all the wine in the shipment was broken. In typical situations, wineries offer replacement of broken bottles, but Fog Crest was impossible to reach in spite of (literally) 50 phone calls and emails. Since I couldn't reach them, I canceled my subscription to their wine club. Flash forward a few months, they charge me another ~$500 on my credit card for wine, but never ship me any wine (in spite of the fact that I had already canceled online). Again, dozens of calls and emails, no answer and no response. Still trying. A few months after that, they charge me ANOTHER ~$500 on my credit card for wine, but don't ship that wine to me either. After probably 100 calls and emails, I finally talk to the wine club coordinator on the phone. She of course acknowledges my dozens of messages, and acknowledges my situation. She says she will replace the wine that was broken and figure out why they've been charging me for wine I haven't been receiving and make it right. But that she can't talk right now and she'd call me back with more information. That was a month ago. I've now called again dozens of times, and emailed. No response. Called and emailed the owner, no response. This is borderline criminal: $1,500 in charges for undelivered product, a non-existent customer service experience, and an online system so archaic that it doesn't process your cancelation and continues to charge you for product.

Zero Accountability and Terrible Customer Service - Avoid Fog Crest!…read more I'm absolutely appalled by my experience with Fog Crest Winery. We joined their wine club in 2023 and was charged $420 all of 2024/25 for wine that they NEVER shipped. When I called to inquire about where the wine was, I was met with complete silence--multiple calls and messages went unanswered. After finally getting a call back, the person said they only called me back because "she saw we had called a lot in one day." That was the first red flag. She promised to credit my account and look into another charge that had been applied. It's been SEVEN days since that conversation, and STILL no credit, no updates, and no resolution. I've followed up with multiple calls, messages, and emails... NOTHING. At this point, it's clear that they don't care about their customers. I highly recommend staying far away from Fog Crest if you value your time and money. Total waste of both

David was as nice in person as on the phone when booking the appointment the same day. We had the choice of indoor vs outdoor for the tasting - both were nice spots but it was really nice out with the picnic table, pond, scenic hills, horses, heron, rat terrier Mikey, and the lounge chairs where we could enjoy our BYO lunch (Mexican from Roy's). Moondance has been in this location for over 20 years and co-promotes businesses in town, including the local Nepalese spot where their wines are served (Yeti), which is pretty cool. They only make 4 wines right now - two reds, two whites - and there were fans of all between the two of us, especially the Sauvignon Blanc, the Chardonnay (which was less buttery and less dry than others), and the Pinot Noir. The pours were the standard smaller size, which at least one of us appreciated, lol. Our tasting ended with a tour of the old cars, which at least one of us also appreciated. A nice couple of hours well spent in Russian River Valley.

I tasted here with a friend a few months ago during the Route 116 club member appreciation weekend, and we enjoyed our very peaceful tasting. Char Vale is a small but quaint winery that's located off the beaten path in Sebastopol. If you're a lover of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, then you will definitely enjoy the wines here. The majority of their wines are single vineyard and small production, so you'll really be able to taste the difference in quality. We enjoyed a tasting of 5 of their wines; Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Rose of Pinot Noir, and 2 of their Pinot Noirs. My absolute favorites were their Single Vineyard Chardonnay and both of their Estate Pinot Noirs. Their Pinots are simply amazing here. Smooth, silky, and easy drinking. These are the types of Pinots that can be enjoyed on a warm day alongside your favorite white wines. Their estate is quite charming. Parking is extremely tight, but they have a nice bocce ball court in the front and a really beautiful garden area near the entrance. Their indoor tasting space is small but still very inviting and bright. From the front, it doesn't look like they'd have much of a back patio. But once you walk through the tasting room and onto their patio deck, those vineyard views will hit you like a ton of bricks! They have some gorgeous views tucked back there on their patio! The best part about tasting here is that it's not crazy crowded like some of the other nearby tasting rooms. It's a super peaceful experience even with other parties around. The patio tables are nicely spread out, and each one gives you an incredible view of their vineyards right below. The tables are shaded too, so no need to burn up in the sun. Although the wine and atmosphere were enjoyable, the service was lacking. Valerie was really sweet and did explain a few details about the wines, but we felt like she could have done a lot more. She was the only one manning the tasting room, but there were only 2 other parties there during our visit. We just wished that she would have been a little more present during our tasting. Aside from this, we still had a nice time. This is a great choice for anyone who is looking for a more peaceful and relaxing tasting experience.
