I have never done a review without having gone to the place but this was so gross feeling and ableist that I really feel it necessary. I really don't like pettiness... by this doesn't feel petty. Tl;Dr: really unpleasant and rude interaction with the desk. It felt really discriminatory. I was really excited for my class and wasn't able to access or find any parking (very severe asthma as well). I wasn't even able to reschedule for later or tomorrow. They were very rude. I was scheduled for my first class at this studio today. I arrived to the area 15 minutes early and circled the block and could find no parking. I went into alleyways looking for any parking and there was none. There were two fire trucks in front of the building and an ambulance, so parking was blocked off. I am an asthmatic recovering from Covid (I had it a few weeks ago) and need accessible parking. I called twice, texted their "help" line asking to reschedule, then called again to leave a message, during which someone picked up. It was 11:10 ish by now, I assume, like most studios, they have a five minute limit on when you can enter the class. I told them that I had to miss class because I couldn't find anywhere to park but that I'd love to reschedule. I was swiftly cut off and told no. I explained my medical situation and told them about the parking issue. I was met with the "24 hour policy" answer without even so much as a kind tone let alone a "sorry about that". I asked again as I was really confused- I've never had such a stringent interaction with any mediation studio. The same exact sentence was repeated to me and then I was told that other people made it to the class so I should have been able to make it. I was so shocked that I asked if these people also had medical issues as well, and once again I was met with the same sentence. Robotic and honestly, rude. I was really upset at this point. They were so thoughtlessly, blatantly ableist. I literally had booked the class not even an hour earlier. I wish I had gotten the name of the person who answered the phone so I could handle thus more directly, but regardless I don't think I'd even feel comfortable. Meditation is supposed to be for everyone. I was looking forward to my first meditation and sound bath since recovering. I am so disappointed. I'm on my way to the calming spot now, and also I recommend unplug in Santa Monica. I've never been made to feel bad about my health in this way by a meditation studio. I would not give them another cent until they fix their ableist policy. It seems they only respond to positive yelp reviews anyway, so yeah... I guess don't bother. read more

Beautiful space wonderful people that work there. Tons of different classes to choose from with different healers. I've worked in the space assisted other sound-bath and breath work healers with group reiki. They answer emails quickly if you have questions. They really care about you and take your needs seriously and the environment is very open and inviting. I've come a loooong way, baby! Had you asked me 20 years ago to attend a group meditation at an ethically sourced crystal spiritual shop, I would have laughed in your face. But this confused ex-Catholic, far right, Rush Limbaugh loving (I know, horrifying), omnivore, southern redneck moved on out to the City of Angels with her one true love and we've both made a few changes. . . . Perhaps we've actually made some 180's. . . . Now this Agnostic Atheist, Xicana Feminist, Liberal, Vegan-ISH, Rachel Maddow fan, dipped her toe into spirituality and meditation! Enter Hallowed Ground. The bottom level shop is beautiful and filled with many items to assist you in your spiritual journey. Then trek upstairs for one of the interesting group meditations and sound baths offered daily. Fortunately, I had some experience in meditation after partaking in an online Birken monastery retreat complete with Pali Chanting twice a day; however, beginners will find this practice welcoming and easy to follow. Our leader Jasmine was calming and experienced and I even enjoyed our heartfelt conversation prior to class talking about all things joyful and painful in our lives. Yes to change! I wanted to book a sound bath, but unfortunately they don't care about checking vaccine or implementing mask guidance here. I just called and was told by an employee, "We're really fluid and are not currently checking". FLUID - are you kidding me? 900 people have died in LA County in 2 weeks from covid and you used the word 'fluid'? Is that to imply that you're super transparent about your lack of safety? I mean, at least implement some kind of indoor mask precaution. Not that hard. No surprise though considering their website has zero verbiage re: covid. Pretty pathetic considering sound baths are supposed to be healing and yet this place ignores city rules and spreads the virus. Nice job! read more

I knew it was time for me to do a serious breathwork class after so much delay, and this time I was all in. I drove from Irvine and came on a recommendation of a friend who said she had a very powerful experience coming here and it opened her up completely. Best of all, she said the husband/wife duo leading it were just awesome and made her feel so comfortable. I couldn't refuse. The second I walked in, I was greeted by the sweetest girl Melissa who gave me a tour around the studio and made me feel right at home before the class started. Soon after, a big smiling guy Gianni came rolling through and I felt right at home immediately introducing myself to him before the class. His wife Kiki came soon after and was chatting with everyone, and asked if I wanted to be saged before the breathing session. I already was smiling, haha! We started super promptly to get to work. Before doing actual breathwork, Gianni gave an absolutely awesome, no-nonsense explanation of "why" breathwork, that was just so easy to understand and just beautiful and I knew this is the kind of guy you want to guide you through something very powerful who knows whatsup. It was so important for everyone to be reminded of this, but also for beginners who just are here for the first time and had the courage to come and try something new, to understand how important and powerful breathwork is and the mechanisms behind what is going on and the goal, and what to expect to take any fear or mystery out of the experience that will unfold. We did 3 rounds of breathing. Gianni kept encouraging us through the entire breathwork to push past what was comfortable and to keep going and keep feeling to go through so we could get past whatever was blocking us, the entire reason we were all here. That was a HUGE help, to have him pushing us and giving us confidence and strength! He has such a gentle yet strong spirit and vibe. I started having a pretty emotional moment during the second round, and he came over to put his hand on my chest to reassure me everything was going to be OK and that I was loved and safe, and it was just what I needed and wanted in the moment. I woke up basically buzzing like a bee with dissipating energy, and after the session just gave Gianni and Kiki a huge hug saying how awesome this experience was. Bonus was being able to share a few laughs and chat in Italian with Gianni at the end, haha! These two are just a wonderful awesome duo, and I can't wait to be back to do this all over again with a new group of people seeking healing and coming to the right place. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! This center is supposed to help people and offer spirituality, healing and community. Well this is the last thing it offers! I went for the first time this week. Had a great class, however the sales girl was trying to sell us packages and rip us off like a bad car salesman. And then, the store manager would not honor a gift certificate that a friend bought me for my birthday. She said it expired in June, but in California especially, it is ILLEGAL to have an expiration date on a gift certificate. So now they are BREAKING THE LAW and looking at a few law suits. The manger Pamela was rude and even hung up on my husband who is an attorney as the nicely tried to explain the law to her. She made up some BS story that made no sense. And the gift card was already paid for so she is just screwing herself and her business. Spoke to many people who also have had a bad experience at this place. They are also NEVER going back there. Went here for New Years Eve. I was visiting Los Angeles from out of town and wanted something different this year. Something completely different from anything I had ever done. This was the first time experiencing breath work or a sound bath or anything like this. It ended up being an incredible experience , led by two amazing instructors who really cared about everyone who was there - experienced or inexperienced. I carried with me so much pain in 2022 but I left more at peace, more in tuned with myself and more focused for 2023. It was an experience I will not soon forget. read more

This studio and its classes/instructors have totally changed my life. It provides the peace and mindfulness I cannot find anywhere else in Los Angeles. I love it. Came for a soundbath yesterday. I perform guided meditations for groups, so I'm picky. Truly it was a relaxing and cleansing experience. The offerings are great but logistically and operationally it's a mess. There's a 3 min grace period which is observed depending on class in the evening classes people are able to arrive much later than five minutes as the instructor sets out spaces for these folks verse in the morning if you're late by even two minutes you won't be able to get into class there's no one at the desk so you're dependent on texting a number which actually takes time to even respond to you. As a new student it is very confusing because online it says the business is not even open until noon but there are 10 AM classes so you can't tell if there even is a class. read more

Took my 5 yo son to a meditation class here. He did very well because his teacher did a great job getting his giggles out then bringing him to a peaceful place. I think kids need calming spaces like this considering how much stimulation they get otherwise. The space is absolutely gorgeous with a great energy. For the area and given the quality of the merchandise, I found prices for classes and products to be totally reasonable. I plan to try a sound bath in short order. From start to finish I was really impressed with this studio! Front desk was friendly and welcoming on the phone and in person. I went to Fabio's sound bath and tarot card reading Tuesday and it was the best meditation experience I've had in years. I'm pretty mindful/selective about where I go or who I trust with spiritual guidance, but this class was beyond incredible. This is located extremely close to the water, so I got to class early and decided to walk on the beach before which made it even more of a lovely experience. Would recommend!! read more

I did breathwork and a soundbath with Elias Shephard and it was absolutely transformational. Elias is incredibly gifted and this is by no means a "class". Elias makes the entire experience like a sacred journey. It is so clear that he gives 110% of himself , he makes you feel safe and really creates an environment that helps everyone open up to the experience. I very randomly happened upon a session he was doing but my experience was so transformational I immediately looked to see when I could do it again. We drove over an hour to have another session with Elias and it was 100% WORTH IT!!! Everyone at hallowed ground is so kind and gifted and the whole place feels very special. I went there yesterday for a sound bath, but had to leave at the beginning of class because the room had become jam-packed and there was only one other person wearing a mask. The instructor literally started the class by asking us to breath in with the nose and sigh out with the mouth. Because of the darkness of the room the fact that we were facing the wall, I couldn't tell how close the guy behind me was until I could feel his breath. I jumped up, grabbed my stuff and jetted out of there fast! I've avoided getting the virus for the past two years by staying away from places that attract anti-science anti-maskers and anti-vaxxers. I should've trusted my gut as soon as I walked in. Hopefully I won't have a heard lesson to learn. read more
