I called to make sure they had table since we travelled with young children, but they were fully booked for the night. The person answered the phone sounded very nice over the phone so I decided to make reservation online for the next day, and I was glad I did. Overall, it was an excellent dining experience. The ambiance was fancy, definitely fit for a celebration/anniversary. I felt like we over ordered since we wanted to try many dishes here, but we didn't regret it. All the dishes were delicious. Service was okay. It could be better since it's pretty pricey here. Honestly, we were aware the dining service in Germany is different compared to the US so we didn't expect a top notch service. I would come back if I ever visited Frankfurt again.

The décor nice, casual enough for the price. We are on the patio because of the weather and Covid but inside looks really great also. The service was absolutely shocking. Bad, slow, rude so in reality I think management needs to pay attention but the cook's and all area's in the kitchen deserve 2 thumbs up. Will I go back? Maybe. Frankfurt has fabulous restaurants. Service is definitely very important to me. Make a reservation. Even in Covid the restaurant was packed and people were turned away.

It's all about sushi and rolls. They have a small appetizer menu. I am not familiar with the options for sushi in Frankfurt. So I will calibrate my expectations to the other reviews--I certainly enjoyed the kaiseki like artful plating. Truly clever and insta-ready. The ingredients were pristine, and the fish was served at ambient temperature--a confident move demonstrating commitment to selling the product that session. Is it world class? No. The sushi rice, while tender and vinegared well, was packed a bit too tightly. The fish was fresh, but not of premium quality in marbling, and the sashimi slices were rather thin for sashimi but appropriate for the gorgeous nigiri. That's it. Nothing more to nit pick. And I am giving this place 5 stars in context! In the end, I thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Go to the counter to pay up when done. Service can be slow as the orders stack up. They infuse care and pride in all they do--it was worth the wait for me. Cam on, Thi!

I ordered omakase (€49) for dinner, which is not pricy compared to other Japanese restaurants in NYC or Cali. Things got weird with starter. Spinach with black sesame dressing is ok, still in my acceptable range. But I don't like they put carrot, seaweed, raw shrimp and a slice of scallop in the the same bowl. It tastes kinda bad. The sushi part is fine except the last piece that they put salmon roe and salmon together... I prefer it to be all salmon roe. The hot dish is the main reason i really couldn't give a 4 star. The beef and the fish were all very overcooked and hard to chew. I barely ate them. Then the final dessert is great. Two ice cream balls, one sesame one green tea with the right amount of sweetness and come with some fresh fruit. Overall is ok. It's near several nice hotels and convenient.

It comes with miso soup, and has a very good variety of different food. You get some fried chicken, salmon, dumplings, sushi, oshinko, and salad. I prefer that my sushi fish is cut from a large piece of fish when ordered. Here, everything seemed to be pre-cut. Especially for the price, I think this is unfortunate. The EUR9.50 large bottle of water was also upsetting. Service was prompt and friendly even if the servers didn't have a good understanding of English. If you're in Messe Frankfurt for a trade fair, I think it's worth walking just outside the fair to eat here. Compared to what you get for the cost in the exhibit hall, this place is no-brainer.

My foraging for Japanese…read morefood ended here after Mangetsu turned me away because they were packed and Sushi So was closed. I first ordered the Sashimi Deluxe from the menu but was disappointed in the selection of fish--after checking the Yelp reviews and realizing that the next door kaitenzushi was connected and had a fuller selection, I queried the server. Luckily she was very sweet and spoke English. I was able to switch to the multi course (6 normally, but since I arrived late, 5) meal on an iPad menu. You choose up to four dishes per course or round and have 15 minutes before you can submit your next round of selections. There's a timer and you can't submit your next round until it zeros out. This was a new concept for me and I enjoyed the execution of it. It was way too much food if you try to maximize to 24 dishes--on round three I asked them to halve my portions to a single sushi nigiri piece each dish instead of the customary two. I wanted the variety, but not volume. I ended on round 4 and am still overly full hours later. The business model was neat and modern, the servers both very sweet and the portions generous, especially for 25.30 Euros which included my jasmine tea. The fish seemed fresh, but I would have liked to see a broader selection--I would be willing to pay an upcharge for hamachi, toro, and uni. The fried selection was not a full fledged izakaya menu but good sampling. The desserts were also a good sampling although more than the mochi, I really wanted small scoops of azuki or matcha ice cream. Four stars is appropriate for a value meal chock full of options tailored to more mass appeal in a tastefully modern setting with kind waitstaff.

Upon entering the sushi…read moreconveyor belt restaurant, I could already tell by the looks of the place what I was getting myself into. However, I was with a group of people and couldn't turn back. They have a "special" 18,90 euro for 10 plates. After my fifth plate, I had enough. First of all, the sushi rice was not done correctly and the grains were of a lower grade. Second, the fish was of low quality and not fresh. I had nigiri hamachi (yellow tail), suzuki (sea bass), and maguro (tuna). All three were lacking in taste and the tuna was not its usual vibrant red color. Third, for a simple recipe, the tamago was completely off. As with the three aforementioned nigiri, the chefs used wasabi to "seal" the fish/egg to the rice rather than to flavor them in a tasteful manner. Fourth, the "fusion" rolls were a whole array of bizarre concoctions. I mean...do they even taste-test their rolls before putting it out for people to eat? Even the Japanese fusion rolls in the U.S. are strikingly better but that's perhaps because the creators of the original California roll, crunchy roll, dragon roll, caterpillar roll put some thought into their creations. Fifth, the green tea was Chinese, not Japanese. Six, I asked the waiter for the names of the chefs preparing all these rolls. Let's just say they were not Japanese names and most likely never trained under the watchful eye of a true sushi chef or even did research for authentic recipes. But never mind me, I just grew up in Japan. This place is popular among those ignorant of authentic Japanese cuisine and quality fish. If a person grew up in Germany and didn't know any better, I guess one would get use to it and possibly even like it, but I give no extra stars for that.
