Envy Us Looks is a fantastic new offering in a shop space that has been a revolving door of cupcake shops, soap shops, and whatever else people think might fly. The space is done up quite simply without trying to be overly 'dude' or posh. My first criteria for a barbershop is that they offer hot lather, straight-razor shaves. Envy Us does. Apparently, one must earn the title of Master Barber before you are allowed to do this. I entrusted Carlos to my scalp, and he did a great job. I keep it simple, rarely styling, and he offered some suggestions on trying something different. So far, I like....and it's been about three weeks since my cut. Here's why I took away 1 star: it is expensive. $25 for a haircut is what I'd expect at a salon, not a barbershop. To be fair, they list a cut, wash, and shave for $25. However, I don't want a wash and shave, just a cut. I imagine a lot of guys are in the same boat with me. My regular barber is $14 and does a great job, but he's far away. I suggested that these guys come up with a "just a cut" price, which I hope they adopt. I'd love to see them survive on a block with ridiculous rents that doesn't necessarily help stability, but I can't justify $25 each time for a haircut. For you college folks and vets, they do offer a discount night at $15.

I messaged my barber to ask if they could do anything to help me and was politely told no. I desperately needed a haircut and took a chance on BK's. I am SO glad that I did because I met Quin who gave me an awesome haircut and was very empathetic towards me and my problems. I am considering leaving my current barber and coming to Quin permanently because of this. Gotta love the fact that you don't have to pay for parking outside of BK's either.
