I live in Mesquite, Texas, and needed to find a florist in Longview for a funeral of my daughter-in-law's grandmother. I had seen all the reviews stating that they had talked to the owner, Angela, and I continued on to read all of the florist listings and reviews with none really standing except Hamill's, so I decided to give them a call. Angela was indeed there and I had the best experience with her on the phone. I had asked an unusual question which was "would she please send me a picture of the peace Lily that we ordered"? She said definitely, yes! I am very choosy about flowers/plants that I order and the picture was sent very quickly and the peace Lily was just stunning. I could not have done a better job if I had tried! Angela was everything that I could ask for in a florist. She was amazing to deal with as well. I had also asked about substituting another basket or something else that the plant could go to the funeral home in besides the plain brown basket. She gave me the alternatives and I upgraded to a metal painted container which she had and it is like our taste in things were the very same. The bow was an outstanding addition that she picked out herself!The funeral was going to be during an ice/snow event in January and she had the big, beautiful peace Lily go over the next afternoon before the funeral the following day to make sure it was delivered and there, not knowing what the weather was going to do at that time. She took such good care of me and it was a very wonderful experience! I was totally impressed with everything she did and it was even tagged to go to the funeral home in my picture. I cannot tell you how relieved I was that I found a wonderful florist in Longview and had no regrets whatsoever. My son called me after the service of the funeral and told me that was the fullest and prettiest peace Lily he had ever seen. I thought so from the picture and was so proud to have it with our names on it for the mother of my Daughter-in-law. My "go to" florist closed a couple of years ago, and I had not yet found a new one. I needed a new florist in advance of Valentine's Day, and Hamill's proved itself right on the money. They delivered the flowers the day before Valentine's Day to my wife's work. They were brilliantly colored and there were plenty of them. Word to the wise: call their shop instead of ordering online - it'll save you a little money. I'll be doing business there again soon. read more

I called this shop last Friday night after 5 P.M. to order flowers for a funeral. The visitation was scheduled for 10 A.M the next morning, so I needed delivery guaranteed by that time. I also made it clear I did not want ordinary. I don't live in Texas and thought it would be impossible to get that accomplished so late in the evening. Angela's bright and energetic voice answered the phone. In an instance she had pulled up the obituary online. She carefully took down the names of the many family members I wanted noted on the card. That was it; and like magic it was done. The comment related to me by my family member following the funeral was the flowers were "magnificent!" I would say the customer service I received was magnificent! Those flowers were delivered well before the visitation. I had called two other florists before I reached Angela's shop. One could not guarantee delivery and the other disconnected me. If you need flowers, save yourself some time and call Angela first. read more

My 74 year old mother called me in California to let me know she was getting married! She said she wanted to keep the whole thing very low key. Even so, I wanted to make a gesture of love and support of this special event. I called Hamill's 3 days before the event to order a corsage and boutonniere for the bride and groom. We talked about what I wanted and what they could do with the flowers they had on hand (too late to get anything exotic). I was specific about what colors I wanted them to use and gave them a long list of flowers I didn't want. All in all, a fairly challenging request. Were it not for their very solid yelp reviews I might not have found someone who could perform under the circumstances. My Mom sent me a few pictures this evening of the ceremony and the finished product. Beautiful, just exactly what I asked for. All this accomplished without having the opportunity to meet face to face or even review the finished product. They proved to be completely worthy of my trust and credit card number. Wouldn't recommend this place! 6 roses and 6 VERY small "sunflowers" with and enormous amount of greenery filler cost 121.24. You'd be better off ordering something they already have done. If you want more for your money and a more beautiful arrangement I'd suggest Ann's Pedals or Longview Florist. Will NEVER purchase from this place again!! If you leave it up to them you'll basically be paying for leaves. Ridiculous. I know everyone needs to make a profit but don't rip people off trying to do it. read more

I have been using Hamill's Flowers since high school. After an awful experience at another small, local flower shop while trying to get corsages and boutonniere's for my junior prom, I decided to look elsewhere. While it seems small to get my feathers so ruffled over flowers for prom I believe all customers should be regarded with respect no matter their age or budget. Hamill's offers just that! I used Angela and her team for my senior prom and then various other flowers. My freshman year of college I was not able to go home for Mother's day because of finals. I knew that would be hard on my mom so I order flowers from Hamill's and before they delivered them I got an email with a picture of the arrangement and asked if I wanted anything changed! It was lovely. This past May I used Angela and her team for my wedding! It was the best. She is very understanding of budget and knows the best and most creative ways to compromise so all your flowers look perfect. She also had no problem coming up with just one more flower arrangement the day before the wedding! I am not the most creative person, but I brought pictures of everything I liked and we were able to come up with a beautiful plan. I searched the Longview area for a Mother's Day gift for my MIL and came across them and liked that I could get an Azalea plant which is my MIL favorite so I ordered it and it arrived on time BUT much to my disappointment it was not an azalea. My mother passed away recently. While making plans to travel for her funeral and arranging for four pets to be cared for including one very sick little senior pet, at the last minute, I realized I had not ordered flowers. Longview was experiencing one of its worst snow and ice storms and I was sure it would be impossible to have flowers delivered to the funeral home. My husband found many wonderful reviews for Hamill's Flowers so I called them. The roads were iced over in Longview yet Hamill's could not have been more accommodating, more kind, and more sympathetic. Angela was not only wonderful, but prompt in getting a beautiful bouquet of flowers to the funeral home *that* day. I wish to thank Angela and her crew from the bottom of my heart. I will forever be grateful for her personable attention during this most stressful time for my family in spite of the record setting winter storm. I sent flowers to my girlfriend in Longview several weeks in a row. The first few times were from online florists, then I tried another local florist. All of these were ok, but I wanted to try something different and called Hamill's. Great experience, knowledgeable staff that answered the phone as well as friendly and happy. The flowers that were delivered last week were described by my girlfriend as being the "BEST" ones yet! So I'm sold!! If she's happy, then I'm happy!! I called them again this morning to order balloons this time, and of course once again a happy friendly person on the phone that recommended something and I'm certain it will certainly be impressive just as the flowers were. Not terribly impressed. Read tons of good reviews to be sorely disappointed. Having been a florist years ago, I know a thing or two of where the money in the flowers go. Ordered the Precious Heart arrangement on their website and went for the middle range priced option at $66.95. 1) It looks NOTHING like the arrangement on the website. 2) They delivered 1/2 dozen roses with carnations and filler. As I said, it looks nothing remotely like the arrangement I ordered. Definitely will never use them again!! read more

We received a beautiful flower arrangement from Hamill's Flowers & Gifts that my husbands employer sent to our home. It was so much more than I expected from any florist. It still brightens my kitchen after a sad trip to Michigan to my moms funeral on Jan 4 and 17 degrees and snowing and blowing a blizzard. Hamill's designed and constructed one of the loveliest Yellow Rose Floral Arrangements for a memorial service of a dear friend recently. They even sent photos to me since I was out of town. When my husband & I saw it in person we were so pleased. Lovely things like the flowers make us feel that at least we are doing something to show our respect and sympathy for our friends when their beloved passes away. If we wanted just a clear glass vase with yellow roses, we could have gone to the grocery store produce section and gotten them for a few dollars. A vase with flowers randomly stuck in it was not what we wanted. What Hamill's designed and created was an artistic masterpiece. THIS IS A LOCAL FLOWER SHOP! Being locally owned and operated makes a BIG difference in the finished product. Selling Godiva Chocolates and Luminera Flameless Candles and Circle E Candles speaks volumes for the quality and reputation of a business because I know they have high standards for their service, creations and merchandise - and they want repeat business. I was very disappointed in their service. I placed an order online after reading positive reviews and called the next day to confirm they received the order. I specifically told them to deliver Saturday afternoon as I knew the receiver would not be home until then. Well, she didn't get the delivery and instead of trying to do something to make me happy, they said that their hours are posted online and they tried to call and no one was home. Even though the person was home and it's a 'he said she said' at this point...I am most upset that they didn't try to do even the smallest thing to make me happy. If they would have offered to refund the delivery fee or make any kind of gesture, I would not be writing this review. Instead I got a bunch of excuses and they still didn't deliver the now 2 day old flowers until Monday at 12. That was a wasted $120. Needless to say I will never use them again and I will make sure my friends and family don't either. read more
