We got tickets for Hamilton a few months ago and we enjoyed the show. It was a bit fast paced for me, many of the songs were very fast and I did not follow them as I wish I could had. The cast is great, although they will unfortunately be damned to comparison against the original cast. We sat in orchestra and the sound, visibility, and set design were great. Fire!! Amazing!! Powerful!! Dynamic!!! Loooooved every second! I saw Hamilton a couple of times on Disney+ and went in underestimating the live-olity of it all. Massive difference! Oh, and thank you, God, Buddha, Yoda, the Universe and the Ancestors! We got to see it during Leslie Odom Jr.'s return. Saw him in Purlie Victorious, too. That man is spectacular!! Of course, I couldn't help but compare this cast to the O.G.'s. I wasn't lucky enough to see the O.G.'s live but, yeah, Disney+. In my humble opinion, they all...allllll of them...kicked arse! The voices! The acting! The dancing! Shout out to the costume person cos the way those costumes swung as they danced...! This cast held all the candles to the original cast! Okay, if I'ma keep it a thousand, I did miss Anthony Ramos and Daveed Diggs. Their replacements were wonderful, tho! I mean, 9.99999999999999 outta 10. They all looked like they were having so much fun! Like, they were legit having a good time. I must've looked like the Joker sittin' in that audience cos I couldn't stop smiling! Save for the scenes that made me cry! Now... Miss Jisel Soleil Ayon as Angelica Schuyler! Every time that girl opened her mouth...! Her voice is so...! OMG! Born to sing comes to mind. Again, the whole cast was amazing, tho! Just cos I don't mention their individual contributions... Okay, one more. Mr. Hamilton himself, Trey Curtis! I finally saw Hamilton and really enjoyed it! They were on 2 for 1 Broadway week and we got 4th row mezzanine. The view was great! The bathroom line for the women's room was nuts and we did miss the beginning of the 2nd act a bit but they do their best to move it. Appreciated the red wine, it was pretty good though pricey for what it was. The legroom was also tight but the show great! The music and history were top notch. read more

On the second day of my first time entering the Hamilton Lottery, I won front row seats..to see the faces up close was beyond what I could appreciate from seats that I would have been able to purchase. You are able to put in about 10 dates in a row, so no need to reenter daily. (crazy sidenote, I won Book of Mormon, Hamilton & Wicked all within a 10 day period, first time ever entering any Broadway show lottery, no joke !) The dancing, choreography & their team work was fantastic. The dialogue & rap, brilliant. Blink & you will miss something happening. I would encourage you to put the official lottery app on your phone, and enter. Keep at it. You can't beat a 10 dollars seat ! Perfect date night! We went during the broadway special (buy one get one free) which personally I didn't find to be a great deal. We ended up buying tickets on a third party app for better seats and price. Now for the show and theater, both were absolutely excellent! Rodgers theater is not large and I think no matter what seat you get, it's an excellent view. The show itself was incredible. I came in tired from my Thursday workday and felt energized by the end of it. Everyone performed exceptionally and drew you into the story line. So glad I got to experience it! read more

Finally saw Hamilton on Broadway in NYC. This has to be the best play I'd seen LIVE in about 24 years. This musical tells the story of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton. Hamilton was one of the 7 Founding Fathers; in other words these fellas collectively crafted the framework/foundation of the American history/journey to freedom. Totally was fascinated and impressed by how the music and storytelling is a combination of hip hop, R&B and a touch of rap. I'd felt as though as I was listening to the radio station "Hot 97." I'd actually grew up listening to this type of music in my teenager years... Hamilton is about a 3 hour commitment and they do have intermission. Phew! Ticket prices are a bit extreme, but I was able to take advantage of the exclusive deals offered at @todaytix. I'd sat in the rear balcony and was able to have a real nice view of the stage. read more

Got to see the HAM! and it was insane. We were on the balcony and it was so close I felt like I could slip and fall on Thomas Jefferson.(his ego was so big). Also the show was so good. No one told me it was kinda sad in the second act. also (spoiler alert) in my opinion Hamilton was kind of a fool. His son was in a gun fight and he told his son to aim for the air. His son got killed! Then he repeated the same stradegy. Don't go to a gunfight with a knife and don't go to a gun fight with Hamilton as your coach!!!! ALSO I wish they would have introduced the actors at the end. Instead they asked for money for a red bucket for aids.(that cool but) I spent my life saving just to get in the show in the first place. And I didnt' see anyone putting money in the buckets. But I would have loved to have known more about these awesome actors. He was good, but he had no supporting cast. There was zero chemistry onstage between Eliza and Hamilton ... not a good match. After becoming obsessed with Hamilton as soon as it premiered on Disney+ I've been wanting to see it live. As soon as tickets went on sale for the return of Broadway after the COVID shut downs, I snagged some (pretty pricy) tickets in the Orchestra section (Row Q). The show was just as incredible, even though the entire original cast has moved on. There were some characters I enjoyed more with the original cast, some that I really appreciated the new twist that the new actors put on the character and some that I flat out liked better than the original. Regardless it was an amazing show with an incredibly talented cast. The theater was...well, it was small. Small in terms that the rows are crammed together. The narrow staircases make it rough to get anywhere during intermission. But at the same time it means you have a good view from almost anywhere. I'm so happy I finally got to witness the show in person and if I'm able to catch any of the tours, I'll jump on the opportunity to watch it again. read more

But first impressions matter. My wife needed to use restroom asap and so I asked the staff member I took a photo or who was supposed to be by the door scanning and welcoming people at 640pm. Instead chatting with a co-worker by staircase to Men's restroom. I asked her where the ladies room was and she rudely replied in a baby voice "I don't know. I don't know" and began laughing at us. I was so turned off that I walked away. We were shocked by her immature response. If a manager is reading this please teach your staff to be more professional. A great musical ruined by the Richard Rodgers Theater Torture Chamber greedy tight seating. Prepare to be in pain wondering why you paid $838 for two tickets to be in complete discomfort for 3 1/2 hours. Venue is nowhere close to big enough for this many people and you're barked at during intermission to snake down to the basement for the restroom. My wife and I were in pain in the seats the entire show and we are normal size people - I am taller but not to degree it should impact $400 theater tickets seating. read more

The play itself, and especially the incredible actors are absolutely 5 stars. Period. I laughed and cried during this show, and ended with standing applause. I'd be remiss to point out, however, that the intermission didn't pass without difficulty. There is dire need of organizing the bathroom situation. There was no real ushers or helpers putting effort into herding the crowd. There was a couple staff members simply standing in the crowd holding up a sign that said "keep your mask on". The ladies bathroom line was absolutely chaotic. A snaking line for what seemed like a mile long. Many people were pushing and getting pushed, and everyone was physically smushed together much like Vienna Sausages. I never did get to the ladies room before the break was over. Frustrating. Conclusion: Hamilton is absolutely amazing. But go at your own risk, especially if you're not psyched at the idea of zero social distancing, or having to go to battle for a bathroom. read more

I finally saw Hamilton after waiting years for a price drop. Went on a weeknight for a better deal. The show was packed with not a single open seat. The theater felt cramped and there wasn't really any wiggle room between seats. I found the cast to be talented, but overall show seemed to drag on. What made the experience unpleasant was the people sitting around me talking during the performance, the loud crunch of chips/popcorn during the show. I've never gone to a Broadway show where people can munch on crunchy snacks throughout the show. Typically I've seen people grab a drink during a break, but nothing beyond that to cause disturbance to the show. Surprisingly saw some kids under 10 years old there too with parents constantly explaining the story to them during the show. Staff could have been more friendly and monitor disturbances during the show. When the show ends, you are rushed out. There is no time to shop for merch or linger. Note that the bathroom is on a lower level and you can imagine how crowded it gets at the short break. Try to go before the show or quickly after. Perhaps the experience is different on a weekend. Overall, I've had better experiences at other shows. read more

I'm not going to lie, I was skeptical at first when I went to know that it was 100% singing, and no talking, but they proved me wrong! With the singing/rapping and dancing... I couldn't look away! I finally got an opportunity to see it at an affordable ticket price and seeing it on Disney Plus just isn't the same as watching the live performance. Despite some people claiming this is cultural appropriation (if you're complaining about white people or others playing someone of a different race but not mentioning this show, then they do have a point), I personally think the concept is inspired since it does make Hamilton's life and that time period more accessible to the masses. Art and history SHOULD be accessible to the masses and making it so is how people learn from it so I say bravo. Further, if Alexander Hamilton lived in modern times he'd be far more like this Alexander Hamilton instead of some stuffy old white guy. The performances of this show were on point and I have no criticism or complaints with it. I hope schools are showing it as part of history classes to teach students about Hamilton, Washington, Burr and all the rest since from my knowledge it's historically accurate. read more

Let's just start by saying if I could give 10 stars I would do so. The show is unbelievable! From start to finish the show did not disappoint. The music was on point, the dancing beyond reproach; the cast is phenomenal! I am not as worldly as other theater goers are but in my brief experience of going to shows I can say this is The Best I've seen this far. I was lucky enough to see the show in Philadelphia but was dying to see it on Broadway and it did not disappoint. The theater was really nice and super comfortable; you were not on top of the theater goer next to you or in front of you. If you are only going to see one show then this has to be it. Although I will say this, you kind of feel bad for Aaron Burr because history does not treat him kindly, but as a history teacher I would ask you to do some research and you just may find that Aaron Burr is not the bad guy everyone wants to make him out to be. But I would get engrossed in the music + plot after awhile. Just know that everything isn't a fact and some are exaggerated story pieces. This was a somewhat last-minute decision for my husband and me, we weren't really sure what to expect, but had heard good things about this musical. We decided that because it was being performed at the Schuster Center it would be worth checking out. Fortunately, there were still 2 seats available together -- they were in the second row from the stage so we splurged and bought the tickets. The musical did not disappoint -- the acting, the singing, it was all quite powerful and moving. Although I had heard that the music was all in rap, there was more variety than that with some R&B and jazz which was very well done. The love songs by 2 of the Schuyler sisters were terrific. I was familiar with this part of American history (which helped), but not familiar with any of the music from Hamilton, and because many of the songs have rapid-fire delivery, it's not easy to catch the words (although by the action you get the gist), so it would be really helpful if the program included the lyrics of the songs. Even better perhaps would be to listen to the soundtrack first so you're more familiar with the songs. It was a magnificent performance that I look forward to seeing again one of these days.
