I absolutely don't recommend this place. my 12y old daughter was participating in self defence classes. At first it was ok, but then i've been asked to download some app to set up direct debit, I refused and said I don't feel comfortable to use it and I offered to set up traditional DD instead. It was fine at first, but then I've been ask to pay more and then more... We ordered some T-shirt- was waiting over a month, on the end we didn't received it with excuse I did not tell the size, what was not true as I done it twice. I asked about refund- "the person", said I need to give a month notice and they don't refund, if I still want it I need to come and pick it up myself maybe next week. Non of that was mentioned at any point before, only after I refused to you the app. Shame the person who should be example of honesty and respect, shows only greed and rudeness. read more

We are a fun, friendly, and safe martial arts club catering to both children and adults of all abilities. We offer a range of arts, including traditional karate, Muay Thai boxing, weapon and knife defence, Kali Escrima, plus effective self-defence.

Established in 2012.

Hampshire Self Protection was founded after the London 2012 Olympics, inspired by the hard-working athletes to start teaching the skills Ian had learned over 20 years of previous training. over the last 6 years, Ian has taught many students of all ages and abilities to start, or develop, their skills in various martial arts; and has offered exclusive seminars with world-class instructors, including Al Peasland and Mick Tully.

Ian is a keen martial arts student with over 20 years of training experience in traditional Shotokan Karate, Self Defence, Muy Thai boxing, and weapons defence. His varied background gives his classes a unique style, focused on building good foundations for practical self-defence, but he also offers more traditional options. He has trained alongside world-class professionals including Geoff Thompson, Al Peasland, Rick Faye, Enoeda Sensei, and Abe Sensei.
