I had a deeply disappointing experience at this Hampton Inn Bloomington Normal location. As a loyal Hilton Gold member, I have never been treated so dismissively. Upon arrival, the front desk employee was rude, displayed no customer service skills, and did not smile. Due to this unacceptable interaction and complete lack of service training from management, I felt forced to cancel my three-night stay. mid overall, rooms could use some care but they didn't let my daughter and I get breakfast 2 minutes after the cutoff, mind you they closed breakfast at 9:30 on a Sunday morning so she didn't eat a real meal until lunch. I'm only writing this review because of the terrible stay I had and this absolutely needs to be made known. I was just there from 1/14-1/16. I was placed on the first floor, my room backed up to the kitchen so I heard all employees laughing and banging pots around starting at 4 or 5 in the morning every day. I heard every time someone or an employee would go to the bathroom at all hours of the night. The room was dusty and dirty, toilet paper in the toilet, grease stains in the shower wall, dirt and finger prints on walls and light switches, the closet floor had hair a dirt and there were actual dust balls in the corners. I left my computer out next to me overnight and the next day it was covered in dust. While working in my room, my laptop was covered in dust and I constantly had to wipe it as I worked. Breakfast was flavorless. Good choices but lacked flavor. I had the eggs. My last day there, I slipped and fell on the access water from peoples shoes who brought in melted snow, in their lobby where there was NO sign saying to use caution, I told the front desk and they said sorry and took a complaint. I called to the front desk no less than 30 minutes after my fall to tell them I needed ice for my ankle which I twisted, and I needed an ace bandage for support and aleve. They brought me ice, aleve, and gauze with 1cm tape. I ended up having to purchase my own ace bandage and aleve, however, the kicker is as I checked out, I looked at my bill and they ACTUALLY CHARGED ME for aleve I requested even though I slipped on their floor. Lastly, because my company was paying for my hotel room, they did not comp a single aspect of my room. And when I asked after slipping for a late checkout, they told me no and that it would be 1/2 the room rate fee. The workers were generally nice except this one lady who had the worst fake lashes, she never said hi and actually said "what" when I would go up to the reception and looked so pissed to have to have me help her. She was on her cell phone and acted like I was interrupting her every time I interacted with her (which was 2 separate occasions on two different days). My coworkers agreed that she was not customer service friendly at all. I filed an official complaint with Hilton on the room and the lack of caution sign. I would NEVER stay there again and it makes me extra uncomfortable and cautious to say at any Hampton ever again. read more

Stayed at this location and 5 stars for Elizabeth. She was at the front desk on the 3rd night of the stay. She has the biggest smile and great attitude. The room is very spacious and comfortable. I stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites while chaperoning a trip to IHSA Journalism State. I thought the hotel did a very nice job working with our group. We had 8 rooms total, and they were able to keep them fairly close together which helped for supervision. The main floor had a great gathering space where the students hung out in the evening to get their publishing done together. The price was about $160 per room, which seemed fairly typical for a hotel in the area on a competition weekend. They had water coolers out the entire stay, a coffee station, and a complimentary breakfast in the morning that was decent. The employees were all friendly with the teenagers and treated them with respect which was wonderful. If state is down in Blormal again next year, I'd definitely stay here again. read more

This is the best hotel in Bloomington-Normal. Trust me, we've tried them all. Technically, this Hampton Inn is in Normal, but only about a mile from Bloomington city limits. Here's what I like about it... Clean rooms Decent, complimentary breakfast Good water pressure in the showers Close to eating and shopping (literally steps away!) Close enough to airport. It was a long day of driving and sightseeing before my wife and I arrived at the Hampton Inn sometime after dinner. The road by the hotel was closed due to construction but it looked like local traffic could pass so we went for it. The next morning we discovered that we could approach from the other direction by driving through the shopping plaza. The front desk staff were friendly and got us on our way to our room in no time. Up on the 5th floor towards the end was our oversized room. Not sure if they are all this big or just a few rooms but we weren't complaining. It was a double size room with a table in the middle dividing the sitting and sleeping areas. The large flat screen TV on the table could swivel to be viewable from either side. We enjoyed a good night's sleep with a soft king size bed. We couldn't hear any outside noises nor other guests. Breakfast was disappointing though with no waffle irons but they did serve Froot Loops. read more

It's on the outskirts of a mall that has lots of chains, best of all an OPH. The bed was a little higher than I like. Check in wasn't too bad. I like the outdoor parking. read more

Terrible customer service. Mary was so incredibly rude. When we mentioned there were ants in the room, Mary got frustrated with us for bringing that up. There's no staff on maintenance for the weekend and no manager the whole weekend. She was useless and very pissy. If you're in hospitality you'd expect a person to be friendly and nice. Mary is the very opposite. Stay a night here if you want to find out how a front desk shouldn't treat you. Mary is awful with people. Checked out the fitness center and pool area (pictured) and is adequate for what I need while working away from home for a week. Breakfast morning area is very modern and updated. I cannot in good faith recommend staying at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Normal. Our experience here was far from what we've experienced previously when staying at a Hampton Inn elsewhere and the response from the GSM (Meredith) from this location was infuriating. I will say that the hotel appeared clean although the elevator button panel was pretty dirty, making it uncomfortable to push any of the buttons. It didn't look like it had been wiped down anytime recently. It started with a frosty check-in at the front desk. It was as if we were putting them out of their way to assist in the process. Nothing at the time was explained as to available services or what was included. We checked in quite late and then left immediately for a business dinner. We arrived back to the hotel after 10pm and didn't actually try going to bed much later. What we didn't realize was that the air conditioner in the room was malfunctioning. It provided cool air but the noise from the unit was extremely loud when it came on and off. It was as if there was a large piece of metal, shaking loose while it ran. Every time it came on, it woke us up. Our stay was last week during a hot night so there wasn't really an option to stop running the until so we dealt with that noise all not, not getting any rest at all. Further, the bed in our room category was supposed to be queen size. As someone that's very tall, this particular bed could not have been an official queen size bed. That what we use to and this bed was far shorter than that. It was also warped where when two adults are in the bed, the gravitate to the center of the bed. I was forced to try and sleep at an odd angle, taking up room from my wife's side of the bed making the experience even more uncomfortable. We left the next morning early with a long drive ahead of us for a meeting, completely exhausted from a terrible night's sleep. We didn't have time to go into a long discussion with the front desk with whom our check-in experience was less than friendly. A few days later I filled out the survey sent by the hotel asking about our experience. I outlined all of the same issues above and that's where Meredith reached out to me directly. Her response boils down to "were sorry that it was below exceptions" and "we hope you'll give us another chance". She also inquired as to why we didn't call the front desk up in the middle of the night and ask for another room. Are you kidding? That would have been even more disruptive and the odds of another room being available didn't seem all that likely. Nor did we want a service person coming into our room due to COVID issues and that's if there was one ready to go at a moments notice to fix the unit. It was just the most preposterous thing to propose. And why on earth would I want to give you another chance when this experience was so bad and your response is to come back and take another chance at my own expense. It was insulting and I responded to her message within a few minutes of receiving it. That was 5 days ago and she hasn't bothered to respond. The initial experience was bad enough but the GSM lack of response has put me off from ever staying in another Hampton Inn ever again. There are many other places we could've chosen in this area. I deeply regret the decision to stay at this Hampton Inn & Suites in Normal IL. read more

This place never ceases to amaze me. Traveling with kids can be tough but Hampton Inn & Suites makes it enjoyable. We were really early checking in and I've never had luck at other hotels trying to check in early so I wasn't expecting accommodations. Meredith did everything in her power to get a room ready early for us. We got a quick bite to eat and sure enough, we had a message that a room was ready! On top of everything, Meredith managed to get some crayons and coloring pages on the desk in our room for my four kids! It was the nicest surprise EVER! I was actually able to unpack our items while the kids were entertained. I love the staff here and that no matter what area of the hotel they work in, they're friendly. The breakfast is always fresh and ready too. I like that it's not always the exact same hot foods and that they switch it up each time. I feel like there's something for every picky member of my family. A huge perk to this place is the proximity to area restaurants and shopping. Loading all of my kids into the van every time we want to eat or shop can be a pain but being able to walk right across he parking lot is fun for the family. We usually hit up Cold Stone creamery at least once at each trip and Hobby Lobby & Target are my two favorite places on earth. This place is a keeper. It's the only place I will stay in the Bloomington-Normal area. read more

Staff was extremely rude as well as other guests would not come back due to the service

Concisely, there was a misapplied payment for my reservation to another person's room. I was called to the front desk and was encountered by a rude and distasteful office manager named Jasmine Byrd. She was very accusatory and told me over 5 times that my credit card was declined although my records proved that Hampton Inn & Suites deducted the room payment. Additionally, she stated that I had the issuer reverse the charge. My husband and I were aghast! The on duty manager explained that he made a mistake and payment wa made and collected. No research was done on her part. What is extremely upsetting is that there was never an apology for her mistakes or her tone and lack of customer service. read more

Checked in on a cold blustery November evening after 4 hours of driving. Our room was a very chilly 66 degrees with trendy but bare pergo laminate floors. Immediately I turned the heat on and within a minute our room was smelled with a TERRIBLE burning smell. We tried to tough it out. But after the smell got stronger we opted for not heating our room. We keep our home very cool but this was a bit too chilly for comfort. Our room stayed at the 66 degree temp. All night. We just wanted to sleep and get on the road again, so we stripped down the second bed and used both blankets. I am sitting in their breakfast are yelping this because the morning experience was worse. When we were checked it was explained to us that our meal tickets were in our check in packet. However at 630 we entered the restaurant which was empty and we're informed that one of the tickets was a lunch ticket and we had to goto the desk to get my ticket zone I could eat. The front desk was very sweet no questions asked, and gave us a breakfast ticket.. The food was good... until my second bowl of cereal. They had weird juice containers filled with milk. I opted for carton milk because the bottles had a gross film on the inside. My first bowl was fine. However the second bowl... My milk was spoiled. The carton was expired and if you have had sour milk before.... there was gagging. The server thanked me for telling her and apologized by saying "sorry about that" twice. Gag. In my photo I took you can see that the milk atop the cereal is actually seperated... indicating that it is CURDLED. read more

This is the nicest Hampton Inn I have every stayed in... and I've stayed in a lot! It is a brand new hotel and you can tell. All of the facilities are nice and it is located in a great part of town. The rooms have flat screen TVs and are very spacious. They serve the standard Hampton Inn continental breakfast with a few hot options. The only thing that really bothers me about this place is that the cable options are horrible. They do have HD stations for the local ABC, NBC, etc. However, there are only about 20 channels and five are ESPN and five are CNN, MSNBC, etc. That doesn't leave much to watch for fun. read more

My nonsmoking room smelled of smoke. This may be related to the smoke detector's battery being missing (quite visibly, with the cover left open). The breakfast ran out of juice early, and the eggs were, we're quite certain, rubber-based props. The biscuits were more likely based on chalk. In the middle of winter, the central heat seems to be turned up to "bake", with the room AC units modulating on for 30 seconds every 5 minutes to compensate. The toilet didn't flush. At all. Our neighbors' had lesser issues. I'm being generous with 2 stars, because it wasn't drafty or noisy. read more

We loved staying here. It's close enough to Chicago that you can get there within 2 hours or so. And the running trail is right outside the front door. (Key: go left out the front, down the hill, left to the light and through the 3 wooden poles. The trail is right there. Go right on the trail. Trust me.) My wife's mom passed away and we drove the entire way from Atlanta to the Bloomington area for the funeral service. We have a little baby and I called this hotel and spoke to somebody onsite to ensure that our two rooms were adjacent and connected by a doorway. This way we could put the baby to bed and hang out in the other room and not bother him. I specifically chose this hotel because they assured me that this could be done. Well after a nearly 12 hour drive, a funeral and fussy kids we arrived only to be told that the type of room I reserved it wasnt possible to do this. The front desk clerk then told me there were two rooms available like this but somebody had taken one of them via online checkin. I called the GM, whose biz card was at the front, but he was off. Eventually I convinced the clerk to switch the other person and I got the two rooms. Whats troubling is that the local people here dont know their hotel. The GM, who eventually texted me back, said that his people were trained to never guarantee connecting rooms, even though they did. He then somewhat insinuated that I was making this up as his people would never do such a thing. He said that his hotel got the highest reviews around. Maybe so but my experience wasnt good and the couple who checked in ahead of me had issues with their reservation too. I guess beware when you reserve here and the hotel owner should beware of his GM and perhaps retrain him on how to deal with upset customers. He seems like an amateur. read more

I'm not sure why some people are so enamored with place and give it such glowing reviews as it's on par with other Hamptons I've stayed in - no better, no worse, exactly what I've come to expect from Hampton Inns. I suppose the location is great except it's really hidden - good thing the front desk told me to look behind the Hobby Lobby when I called! As a business traveler just passing through for 1 night, the fact that it's within walking distance to so many attractions isn't of much value to me although I can see if you're staying long term and in your room a lot with no car that's something to consider. The breakfast -meh, I've had better at other comparable hotels. I can't really recall if all Hamptons serve the same breakfast, but turkey sausage links with what appears to be processed eggs, and a belgium waffle maker with only syrup and NO sweet pie filling fruit or better yet, a thawed frozen berry mix with whipped cream just don't do it for me. At least give me real eggs or a real egg cheese omlet and real sausage and/or sausage gravy over biscuits like so many other comparable hotels! Update - I paid a bit more attention to the other Hamptons I've stayed in since this review and found other seem to serve the subpar breakfast of processed eggs on Sat too, so perhaps all Hamptons do this on weekends. I've no idea why they would except there's typically families with lots of kids staying on weekends so perhaps it a cost savings measure. I'll assume on weekdays they serve the usual omlets an real sausage and bacon to the business travelers. read more

I recently stayed at this Hampton inn overnight for a work trip. As usual the room was tidy, and had a nice flat panel TV. Being a Hilton Diamond member does help in room selection I must say. However I have to only give this and 3 star because there was a horrible noise for about 15 minutes early in the AM hours. It was so loud and long that it woke me up and I could not sleep for over an hour. I thought it was just me until I spoke with a colleague of mine who was staying at the same hotel. With usual high levels of service I was surprised not to have been warned about such a thing or even an apology after the fact. My job has changed so I won't be at this Hampton Inn for any forceable future, so be aware. read more

Internet connection stinks here. "Free" for hhonors Is spotty at best. If you need reliable connection- be ready to pay up. Otherwise a clean hotel with polite staff. 6/8 update. This Hampton Inn is better than a lot of the other ones I have stayed in. Great beds, beautiful rooms, and friendly staff that makes staying here a breeze. After the Doubletree, this is my favorite hotel as they have good internet and most importantly a bunch of good restaurants and stores nearby. Right across the parking lot is Destihl Brewery and Restaurant. Not my favorite beers, but their food is fantastic! Standard free breakfast and no problems with checking in and out add to the ease of staying here. They're often sold out, so book early! read more

Four Seasons...why? The Renaissance...why? Why spend all that money if there is a Hampton Inn wherever you're traveling? Hampton Inn has everything you need. I can't really think of anything I want to say about this specific Hampton Inn, but I've always been a fan of the Hampton Inn. They are very clean, the staff is helpful.....OH YES NOW I REMEMBER!!! THE FREE BREAKFAST!!!! The breakfast spread for the guests is ridiculous!!! Warm waffles, sausage, bacon, eggs, potatoes. The best thing I saw was the fridge and the individual cartons of Silk soy milk. I just wanted to steal the whole thing...is it stealing if its a free breakfast? The fruit was fresh, and the employees keep everything fully stocked. Ashley and I had a great workout in the fitness room and flopped around in the pool too. Hampton Inn, I love thee. read more
