We travel a lot so have visited many various hotels in the Hilton brand-mostly Hampton Inn & Suites and Hampton Inns. It is in and area surrounded by other hotels and one gas station across the street. There is a casino down the road that houses a couple of restaurants and using the Yelp app there are a few within 5 miles. This hotel was clean and quiet and our room, for a standard king was spacious, as was the bathroom with a walk in shower. Both desk staff and breakfast attendant were friendly. The breakfast area was open about 15 minutes prior to 6 am and allowed us to grab and go for the road. Hard boiled eggs and some fruit were appreciated. There were sweets available also for a grab and go. The only thing we did not appreciate at the time was the high price, especially with the pool closed until 2027. $169.51. And they were not very busy this particular date according to the vehicles in the parking lot. read more

I typically will drive the extra 45 minutes to Champaign because I have had great experiences with their hotels out there, but the past few times I have decided to give this Hampton Inn a try. Needless to say, I think it is worth the extra time to drive towards Champaign. For me, I think this hotel best serves as a stop if you have had a long travel day and you just need a quick place to crash. It is right off the highway with many other hotels, but that is really about it. There are no restaurants within walking distance, nothing really to do by the hotel and anything meaningful is at least a 10 minute drive. At least the Golden Nugget Casino is close. The hotel itself just feels kind of old and needs some upkeeping for sure. The rooms themselves are okay, spacious, with a mini fridge, microwave and air conditioning. The furniture is not in great shape in any of the rooms I've stayed in, with the couches feeling old and worn out and the wooden structures starting to wear out so you can see the interior wood. The beds are at least comfortable and clean. On my last visit, I had a problem with the hot water in my room. The staff were nice enough to move me, but I was surprised when I couldn't take a shower in the morning before some meetings. Additionally, the internet here is pretty poor, it is tough to get things done with the WiFi on site. The gym is pretty well equipped, but I think some people stole some of the dumbells because there are a bunch that are missing. The pool seems to be closed for the rest of the year. Kind of a bummer! I would suggest staying here only if you need to. If you can forge on towards Champaign for an extra hour, I really think it is worth it. I've stayed at so many different Hilton hotels, and this one is definitely not equipped for people to stay for long durations! read more

Easy access from Interstate, but not close to anything besides other hotels including the absence of any restaurants within 10mi. Two queen suite was super huge - larger than most apts. Very nice public areas and above average complimentary breakfast compared to other Hampton Inns. Front desk staff was friendly but a bit slow with the computer at both check-in and check-out. The room was definitely in need of a remodel or refresh. Lighting was poor and having only 4 hangers was a bummer. Room was not particularly clean and was banged up. Fabric furniture was stained and hard furniture was scratched/banged up. See pics. Bed was firm and got a comfortable night's sleep (best part). I would stay here in a pinch, but as there appears to be a brand new Townplace Suites next door - would try there next time. read more

First, kudos to the evening manager/desk clerk. Because of our fears of COVID 19, we requested a room not recently occupied. She hooked us up with a room not occupied "for at least three days." Yea! Nevertheless, the cleanliness seal on the door was broken and the bed looked like someone had a "restless night." Boo! So we got another room. The manager assured us that this room was clean because she had entered it the previous evening to removed the washcloths. She found us two in what, evidently, is a epic washcloth shortage in the hotel. The hotel is not near restaurants, but they have frozen entrees and microwaves in the room, so no problem. Problem: the microwave in our room was not working properly. When it turned on at all, the exterior of the machine started heating up. The same night manager let me use the microwave in the breakfast room. Did I mention this kind woman wore her face mask like a fashion "choker" the entire afternoon and evening? At one point, the toilet tank in our room stopped filling, but I fiddled with it and set things right. The next morning we arose. I think we could have used the breakfast area to prepare our own food, but it was unclear. We might have asked the desk manager, but the scene in the lobby made us want to get the heck away ASAP. We witnessed the day manager, sans any mask at all, loudly agreeing with three maskless guests that the whole Covid thing was "no worse than the flu" and "would not be a big deal if it were not an election year." Evidently, the "Masks must be worn" sign and policy does not apply to hotel staff or guests who choose to say "screw you" to those of us who are trying to not die from the Corona virus. So, while the night manager was a peach, the hotel has problems, not the least of which is the lack of understanding of what an airborne pathogen means for wearing a mask. Cover your NOSE as well, people. I would not stay there again until after the pandemic is in the rear view mirror. For the record, fatalities from the flu in the use might reach 70K on a really bad year. I suspect many of those deaths might have been prevented by the use of a flu shot. We are at 173K deaths in the US with a projection of 300K by December. It ain't the same thing. read more

We stayed here as part of a wedding party and the whole stay was kind of ridiculous. We had to ask for towels, there weren't any in our room when we checked in. Things were broken in the room. And multiple other people in the wedding party got charged twice for their rooms or had random extra charges. Nobody at check out was "authorized" to make changes to bills so we were all given the GM's card and just asked to contact them. I wouldn't recommend staying here. If you do, be careful and definitely ask for your bill when you check out. read more

This hotel is AWESOME! The service is great, the rooms are clean and the free breakfast is very impressive! Most places give you a bagel and call it a day but not here!! It's like being at home! The pool is nice and the hot tub is large. We will definitely book this place every time we come for a visit!! It's fine - and the best you're going to find without going to Champaign Urbana. Typical Hampton Inn for most categories: parking to room style and amenities to the standard free breakfast in the morning. Smallish indoor pool and hot tub, small workout and business center. A small number of first floor rooms, all of which are going to be noisier than on the second or third floor due to the location of available hotel amenities. Fairly comfortable if starting to get a bit dated. Clean, overall, but more than a little dusty, if you have allergies. I really, really wish they would use a default room temperature of somewhere between 68-72 degrees in the winter. Twice this winter, my rooms have been unbearably hot all night with no way of effectively cooling them down even a degree or two (after setting the thermostat to keep the heater completely off and letting the fan run continuously). There isn't much (aside from other hotels at various price points) in the immediate area. You'll need to take a car to get a bite to eat, whether it's fast food, casual dining, or something more (that, again, will take a drive to Champaign Urbana). There is a more-than-usual amount of railroad track in the immediate area (which tends towards industrial sites) and not all of the crossings have railed guards, so, theoretically, horn sounding would be necessary, but I haven't been woken up by train noise this winter, let alone horn blasts. Maybe I just got lucky, I guess(?). Where I got less lucky: it appears that they tend to have highly variable occupancy: an empty lot and quiet experience one night could turn into full occupancy with 4+-to-a-room teenagers playing in traveling team sports the next night. read more

I booked this hotel room about a month in advance so that I could attend my 40th class reunion. I'm in a wheelchair with health problems so I did question first on if the room was accessible and if something should happen I could get my money back. I was to pick up my rental car at the airport at noon the day of the reunion. When arriving st the airport, they had my reservation, but because I only had my debit card, they wouldn't let me rent it. I hadn't cancelled all our major credit cards when my husband passed away the year before, knowing I'd be strapped for money. Even when my son (who was going with me, but had no driver's license) offered to use his. After much begging, pleading and looking for other rental places, I ended up having to call and cancel my room. They said they were going to charge me the $124 for it regardless. They said the only way the wouldn't charge me if someone else rented it. I did, indeed, get charged for it. Strange since there were two high school reunions in town that weekend. So I honestly have nothing good to say about this hotel. Buyer beware. read more

Horrible! I will drive the 30 min from Champaign next time. Room right across from business center. Each time I come I request a room somewhere else as it is sooooooo noisey on the first floor. You would thing as often as I come they would make an effort to put me somewhere else. Marriott in another town will get my business from now on. read more

We stayed here two nights in September of 2018 and it was great! The pool area and hot tub was particularly nice. Not a whole lot besides hotels at this exit. read more
