The rooms are awkward by today's standard, the clothes hangers right as you walk in, the desk by the front window, the bed near the raised back window. The nods to modern life are the big screen tv, the small refrigerator and microwave, and the window unit air conditioning. I don't know if the room really had blackout curtains but they did the job. Between that and the air conditioning, there was plenty of white noise to block out the not-so-busy street traffic. The strategically placed tables and chairs in a common area outside the unit, give those who want to enjoy the weather, or have a cigarette, a place to do so. Overall, I rather liked the old school attitude, but the morning coffee in the lobby? Yuck. For sitting and chatting, the lobby is perfect when it's too hot to sit outside or the cigarette smoke is too much.

Pricy merchandise so I bought a cool skeleton sticker for a souvenir. They have rentals and a shop to make any adjustments or repair on your gear. I had my bindings snap so the technician was able To help with a temporary fix. Plan ahead for a busy day. Food In the lodge cafeteria was decent. They were out of cheese curds that day so they had some cheese triangles that look like Makeshift cheese curds. If you're hungry everything tastes great! Typical of resorts, food is mid to high priced so you can bring your own food if you want to save money. They also have a restaurant for other food and drink options. Parking lot was close by so you can walk to your car not too far even on a busy day. They offer a 3 day flex pass you can use conveniently anytime during the season at any of the three resorts: Granite Peak, Luften, and Snow River for a decent price and if add an extra day it's $69.99 or $70. Lifts are fast so be careful Getting off the lift! Nice view of Wausau at the top! Of the hill!

Possibly the quickest airport I've ever passed through…read more Hopefully you don't have a long layover here since it's a relatively small airport (only 5 gates) but if you do, there's a centrally located "shop/snack stand" between all gates to grab a quick snack, drink or last-minute Wisconsin souvenirs. If you have food in you bags (who can't leave Wisconsin without cheese?), they will likely request you to remove it from your baggage during security and put it in a separate tray to avoid a manual luggage check. The rental car desks are in a separate building but it's literally steps away from the baggage claim exit. Pick up and drop off took no more than 5 minutes. Walking to my car took about a minute. Gotta love stress free airports.
