As a Hilton diamond member, the $25 early check in cost is laughable for this dive, when early check in is an amenity for brand loyalty. This place was most likely outdated in the early 90's, the carpets are sticky, they fail to provide additional pillows for the pull out couch, and the bathroom was littered with hair. In the king suite - the room size was greatly minimized by the monstrosity of a built in desk apparatus. One tv on the wall, to share, somehow, with no doors separating the couch area and the sleeping area. This is on par with a much lower branding, and even they wouldn't try to pass it off as a suite. Reservations were already made for 4 months from now, when we had to be back in the area, but we will be canceling the multiple rooms and going elsewhere. You may have got the additional early check in charge this time, but overall it has cost you thousands in lost room rentals. read more

I rarely ever leave reviews but I could not let this go. I have stayed here twice in the last 6 months and will never come back until the General Manager has been removed. My wife and I booked a room for one night and noticed immediately the date was wrong and called hotel to change the date and he refused to change it and would not give us our money back. Had to call Hilton Corporate to make things right. I am thankful for the corporate Hilton customer service. I received very little customer service from this hotel. read more

I stayed in this hotel in early August and had a pretty good stay! Originally, I booked for a room with one king bed, but was given a room with two queen beds instead. Kind of weird considering I was traveling alone, so I only needed one bed. Other than that snafu, the room I got was huge. The two Queen beds were comfortable. The room was clean. Having the a/c and heater to myself was great. Towels and pillows were plentiful. The WiFi was pretty fast. Breakfast was ok! They had quite a variety of options for everyone. The only thing I disliked was how early they started cleaning up breakfast. I showed up about 30 min before ending time and they were already starting to clean breakfast up. The hotel is pretty close to Shipshewana if that's what you're visiting for. It was about a short 10 min drive away. read more

I will start to state I grew up in this caring wonderful small town. I was coming back into town for my brother's funeral. 3 days prior to my reservation I received an impersonal email cancelling my reservation without any explantation. I contacted the hotel and they stated due to a storm my reservation was cancelled since I booked 3rd party. I explained my situation regarding my brother-they did not care. I asked for a referral to another hotel-they did not have one nor did they try. The customer service was horrible. The empathy was nonexistent, the lack of tack was not there. This is not the same "Norman Rockwell" town I grew up with with neighbor's helping neighbors. Welcome to corporate America where the almighty dollar wins out. I have been fairly loyal to the Hilton brand for years but am now rethinking that due to this one poor experience. Customer service does not exist here at least on the phone. read more

Nice place. When you walked into the lobby you were immediately greeted. The younger desk employees were quite friendly and wanting to help. Rooms nice size. Clean rooms. I came with another couple Found out that hey got mouthwash and I did not. So don't blame me for bad breath! I ever made it to the pool so I can not help you there. Breakfast area nice. Was not crowded. We did come during the week. Breakfast selection is the usual. Everyday an egg selection, potatoes and a hot protein. They have a selection of juices as well as milk. Toilet keeps backing up. Called maintenance. Guy arrives with some drano labeled of course not for toilets. He puts it in. My husband and I stayed at this hotel for close to three weeks in November 2020. We were having our RV worked on and stayed here while the work was getting done. Our experience here was very pleasant. We had our dog with us and all of the employees from Michael and his team at the front desk to Linda and the cleaning crew, and all of the kitchen staff. They all went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. We found them to be very accommodating with any of our needs and very pleasant no matter which shift, everyone was professional and friendly. Was a bit frustrated as I reserved a King room thru our company travel portal but was given a queen double room when I arrived-was told that no King rooms were available due to their being sold out-yet the parking lot wasn't full upon late arrival and early exit and few people at breakfast in the morning. Great experience at a new hotel. Price was reasonable and it was a good value. The lobby features the new expanded community space with plenty of seating for the provided morning hot meal. The room was spacious and the bed was super-comfortable. That's one thing I look forward to when visiting a Hampton is the comfy bed and mounds of pillows! The bathroom was super-clean, features a hair dryer and coffeepot as well as a very spacious tub and plenty of towels. The room features a mini-fridge and microwave. This hotel is pretty conveniently located. It's 3 minutes south of Middlebury (and Das Dutchman Essen Haus), 15 minutes to Shipshewana if you're visiting there and about 35-40 minutes to South Bend if you're taking in a Notre Dame football game. It's just off of US-20 which is a very convenient East-West artery in the Northeast Indiana area. read more

We stayed at this Hampton because my sister wanted use of the hot tub. Upon arrival we were told both the swimming pool & hot tub were out of service. We stayed on the third floor and when we went to the elevator to go down to the first floor, the button didn't work, we had to call the front desk to get the elevator sent up to us, thanks to Yelp I found the phone number as one was not provided. When we returned, no cleaning had been done, I called the front desk and said due to COVID you had to request cleaning service & should have been told when we checked, we weren't. A Hampton Inn is reliable in terms of rooms and amenities, but this property, located in Middlebury, IN, has a big problem with sound. If you decide to get a room here, you MUST get a room in the 3rd (top) floor or you will hear nonstop foot traffic from the room above you. The noise actually kept us up at night. Also, the room doors slam so hard you will definitely be disturbed as you try to relax in your own room. The hotel is aware as they give you a sheet that asks guests to refrain from allowing doors to slam and staying quiet after 10:00. I've had two nights of interrupted sleep, which is very disappointing. read more

This hotel is in a very good location. You're about five miles from the I-80/I-90 Toll Road and at the corner of US 20/IN 13, no too far from all of the destinations. The staff is very friendly and the hotel was very clean. My room was very nice. I had a comfy King Size Bed, a very nice whirlpool tub, There was also a shower if you prefer. It also had a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. And I was disappointed because I wanted to go to a Steelers Bar to watch the football game, but it didn't work out. But my room had NFL Sunday Ticket, so I got to watch the game in my room and all of the late games in my room. And the room had great AC and the fan stayed on, which is awesome! Now, here are the negatives. The whirlpool tub was very strange. First, I'm short at 5'7". It was built obviously with an NBA basketball player in mind, as it was very difficult to get in and out of. It really could use a step on the outside. I almost broke my toes and a leg getting in and out of it. The other thing was there was no faucet. The tub was filled by a few (not all) of the Jets. So it took forever to fill. From time to time, throughout my stay I would hear a lot of loud draining from the room next to mine or the room above. It scared me each time it happened. Also, the coffee maker and accessories were set up under the bathroom sink instead of on the desk where the cups and ice bucket were. I thought that was strange. And a couple of towels I had, needed to be replaced. One was very thin and one had strings hanging off it. Then Monday Night as I was about to go to sleep, the fire alarm started going off. It was a false alarm, but it woke me up and it was about another hour before I was able to get back to sleep. All in all, it was a decent hotel and I wouldn't have an issue staying here again. Booked the hotel a week ahead and made sure I added that my children would be there so I could get a first floor room ( to avoid disrupting people below us as my kids are 5 and 8 and this was their first hotel stay so they were gonna be excited) well we got put on the top floor and had our first complaint at 8:30 pm. Not even an hour after being there. The floors were super thin, so even when my kids were walking, not running or jumping, but just walking through the room, it was still super loud. No food delivers in the area so be prepared to have to go out if you're hungry. And pretty much everything closes at 9 or 10. The beds were horrible. My husband, kids and myself didn't sleep at all. The complimentary breakfast was pretty bad. Granted, it's free so who can expect it to be that good but my kids took one bite and said no thank you and I tried it and immediately decided to just go out to breakfast. The whole place reeks of mildew when you walk in too. The only good thing I have to say is that the staff was wonderful and the rooms were clean. read more

I came here for my mother's day with my husband was so excited for a quit nights sleep but not happening our room is right next to the ice machine area and right across from the hotels laundry room at around 6 am I stared hearing lots of talking and even louder noises the workers are all talking in this massage laundry room over multiple washers and dryer going with the door open than as that is going all that water moving now is cause the tub in the room we have a suite by the way will not stop gurgling loud its awful one of the worst rooms we have ever stayed in and now the person above use either has kids or a heavy walker! Well night number 2 was even worse watse of 300$ for a nice romantic getaway . They put 3 kids above our suite couldnt have romance couldn't relax in the giant tub couldn't sleep this whole thing is just bullshit I want our money back now we are up and leaving cause we can't handle this shit this place is a no star !!!!!!!!! Can't even place people in proper rooms front desk was no help so here we r leaving and on the road by 8:30 am no breakfast nothing cause its bs . Just SMH all the front desk could say is I wasn't here this weekend wow what happend to knowing ur customer and placing in the right rooms. As a Hilton Honors member I have stayed at many Hilton properties across the country and have NEVER had a worse experience than here. The desk clerk had no idea what she was doing and the manager was totally incompetent when we had an issue. They were extremely unprofessional and did not come close to the standards we have found with Hampton Inn. When we had an issue because our room had not been cleaned at all by the second day we went to front desk for the second time...the conversation escalated quickly. They have no idea how to deal with customer issues and made excuses and ultimately said they were checking us out. This should have been a very simple fix. Hampton has a 100% satisfaction guarantee but there was no guaranty here. The only bright spot was when we called Hilton customer service who immediately took out complaint and found us another hotel. read more

I tried to work at this place for a very short time because I just love hotels. The place is clean and the breakfast is great compared to most hotels Ive been to. The pool room seems to be closed down alot for whatever reason and there seemed to be alot of issues with the employees stealing from the rooms leaving me afraid to even bring my purse in the building. Also former employees breaking in and doing drugs in the rooms wich is just creepy. They DO NOT change the Duvets on the beds regularly infact rarely wich is gross! I would not want to use someone elses blankets thats for sure. Not sure how to rate this place... In alot of ways its a nice clean place but then in some ways not so much. read more

We didn't get to stay here, but I wish we had. Hotels.com never communicated our booking to the hotel and because this was the weekend of Notre Dame vs USC, the hotel was completely booked. The staff went above and beyond to try to help us get rebooked somewhere else and they were extremely friendly. The hotel looked very nice and modern, and the hotel that hotels.com rebooked us at was of lesser quality. When we go to a game next year, we will definitely book our room here, and definitely directly through the hotel. read more

Made reservations here promising we would have 2 queen sized beds and a rollout. Got there, they don't have rollouts and no sofa in the room either. Night person brought up 6 blankets and 2 pillows to have 1 of us to sleep on the floor. REALLY!!!! Told we have to talk to the manager in the morning. Next morning manager loudly asked "why did I book though Expedia", does it matter ? They got the business. Going back and forth with a very disrespectful manager I went to pay the bill, he replied " your done here. Getting on the elevator to retrieve our bags, another guest told me how embarrassed she was for me for being treated in such a way, and because of it she won't be staying there anymore. It was especially nice because the desk manager, Becky - I believe was her name, was very friendly and helpful. She even allowed us to meet every evening in a meeting room for cards and visiting. Several items went missing from my room and when I alerted the front desk, they said they would "look into it" and get back to me. It has been weeks without any communication. My husband & I planned a 4 day trip to this lovely area. We have been to the Blue gate many times and loved it. This time we planned to stay at this Hampton Inn & Suites. We used 42,000 points and payed a little over $300.00 to upgrade to a lovely King Studio Suite. The hotel is nice at first glance. The room was lovely. The hand towel rack came off in my hands as I tired to take the towel down. We arrived Thursday afternoon. We tried to use the pool-WAY TOO COLD! The jacuzzi was okay. Friday morning we left the hotel to have breakfast at 9 a.m. And came back at 1:30 ish; our room had not been cleaned. We left for dinner at 4:00, housekeeping was still in the hall. We we arrived back at the hotel at 9:45 p.m. Our room had still not been cleaned. My husband went to the front desk. The desk clerk and the manager said that housekeeping said we had a "do not disturb " tag on the door.My husband informed them not even for a minute did we have a tag on. We did tell them that room next to us had- they wouldn't listen. This morning we left again for breakfast returning at 1:00..... you guessed it... room not cleaned!!! We changed our clothes because we had a 2:00 o' clock show to attend. On the way out we stopped at the desk. I told the same desk clerk that our room was still not cleaned. She interrupted everything I said then "hushed" me leaving the desk. She returned with the Housekeeping manager & someone else. The H.K. Manager told us her housekeeping staff said we had that tag on the door. We again said we hadn't. I then told the desk clerk she acted unprofessional by walking away and bringing the H.K. Manager over. All of a sudden the hotel manager appeared and told us he was checking us out and told us "to go gather our things" WE WERE SHOCKED! Hilton Honors helped us find a room for the the night and paid for it. DONT STAY HERE OR YOU MIGHT BE TOLD TO LEAVE!!! Also if you do stay plan on your room not being cleaned for most of the day. We were there for 2 days and they NEVER CLEANED OURS! *** One last note- read the comment from a former employee.... they hardly ever wash their duvets- horrible!
