    Check in COVID style
    Devon E.

This was my first time staying in a hotel in the new COVID world. We picked this Hampton Inn as the price was right, well-reviewed, and thought it would be a safer choice as it was recently remodeled. Before I even entered the building, I felt better knowing they were enforcing COVID safety with 6ft distance markers in the front lobby, plexiglass at check-in between customer and employee, employees in masks, breakfast served by staff not buffet style (mostly prepackaged items available), and the room doors had sealed markers to confirm no entry since the room was cleaned. The remodeled hotel was very attractive. Our room was very clean, a nice size, with a comfortable bed. My only complaint was the pillows were very small compared to what I think is needed for head support. The hotel had an indoor pool and hot tub that was open till midnight, which is much later than most I've seen. I did not use it as others were and I didn't feel comfortable. I did however have a chance to use the fitness center which was 24/7. They were limiting it to two people in the room at a time, which I appreciated, I luckily was the only one in there when I went. Not much near the hotel as far as restaurants, and it seems any places closed pretty early on weeknights for take-out. However, very convenient off the highway. So, a great one-night stopover on our way to the NC mountains.

Just one night here because I really didn't feel up to that last two hours of driving home after fighting my way down the serpentine roads from Mount Mitchell. I've stayed in dozens of Hamptons and this one is great. My room was quiet and secure. The bed was clean and they had plenty of towels laid out in the bathroom. Wifi worked well and the work desk was comfortable. The hotel is near the highway but I did not hear any highway noise. The clerk who checked me in was friendly and the breakfast in the morning was well cared for. This was a good stay and I would definitely use this hotel again. [Review 12715 overall, 27 of 2020.]

We stopped here for one night with our grandkids over Labor Day weekend. This hotel was only about 15 minutes from Linville Caverns. We were on the 2nd floor. I loved being able to check-in online, use a digital key and check out online. They have a nice breakfast with waffles, fresh fruit, oatmeal, and lots more. The indoor pool and hot tub was nice. Plenty of seating and towels available. Did have one time our digital key wouldn't work and we couldn't get signed into the internet but the folks at the front desk were quick to resolve both issues. We would definitely stay here again.

The staff here exceeded my expectations! Better than 5 star hotels I have stayed at! From the moment I checked in, to the next morning at breakfast-incredible customer service! Rooms were clean and spacious. Highly recommend!

As others reviewers online have stated... Do not judge this hotel by the exterior. My wife and I stayed at the Hampton Inn for a pleasure trip over the Thanksgiving holiday. The interior was clean, bright, and decorated for Christmas. The staff was exceptionally friendly and suggested several restaurants and activities to enjoy while in the area. The room was clean and in good repair, as were the fixtures. The arrangement made sense and the room flowed with little impediments. The television was massive and had an external HDMI pigtail attached to hook up a personal device. A nice touch in the room was the coat rack on the wall near the door. The rack was very useful and well placed. The only issue I had with the bathroom is that there was no retractable drying line installed. That is always a welcome touch at a hotel with a pool to dry swimming suits on. This would be a very inexpensive thing to add to each room. The breakfast area was kept well stocked and clean with a different breakfast on each of the two days. The pool and hot tub were nice and INDOORS which is always a plus during the colder months. The pool area was kept clean with some relatively small towels to dry off with. TIP: Bring the towel from your room or a beach towel. You most likely will not be able to wrap these around yourself. Given the price point and level of the hotel, it earns 5 stars. I would stay here again and plan to my next trip to the area.

    Dining area, beautiful.

Passing through on the way to pick IP our son from camp. This is a wonderful hotel. I've stayed I'm Marion before and nothing had really exceeded or even met my expectations. This place far exceeded them. The positive! Location, not in the main hub of things, bit kinda on the outskirts which is great. Very convenient to I 40. Pool, hot tub (both indoor), breakfast area, lobby very clean and outstandingly decorated. Room well apportioned, mini-fridge, microwave, desk. Large bathroom. Everything very clean! The only glaring thing was the heater on the hot tub appeared to be out of order. This is minor considering a very reasonable cost. Will add more after breakfast tomorrow. Delicious breakfast. Ham, cheese, peppers omelet, cheese omelet, home fries and then the usual fare. Bonus? Fresh strawberries!

I always stay here when I'm working this region. Front desk service is ALWAYS helpful, friendly and outgoing. I enjoy the bed the MOST....it's the main ammenity that reminds me of HOME. The continental breakfast is decent and convenient. Only time in the year when I can get GOD FATHER'S PIZZA.... YUMMERS annnnnddd sleep familiar!

The negatives there is an odd smell throughout the hotel I can only think it must be the disinfectants or cleaners used. It is mentioned in other reviews. The location is odd you have to drive thru the pelican snow lot to the hotel. The staff when we checked in had trouble with their system and we had to check in a second time the next day. The beds were adequate but not comfortable an$ we left early instead of staying overnight. Again not bad for the price

Just saying the night. TV only went to 15. Okay. Talking in room like normal people and someone BEATS on our door at 12:30 saying to "shut the F up." Literally just talking. No one is yelling. Decided to check out. Women in lobby said someone complained about noise. She claimed she walked down hallway and heard multiple rooms making noise. Then proceeded to scream in our face, like red faced screaming. Also claimed she had a problem with locals (who were all over the parking lot but I could give a shit- just want to sleep). Said she can't do anything about our situation. So now I've paid $450 for a room I stayed in for 3 hours. When booking app tells you this place is great? Look at yelp. They have a shit score for a reason. Checked in at 9:30. Checked out at 12:45. No thanks. Now to go get my $300 deposit back.

The furnishings are so cute and the bed is super comfy!! I slept like a baby last night which rarely happens if I am staying at a chain hotel. I love the claw foot bathtub, which also has a shower in case you don't have time for a nice relaxing bath. I also love the toiletries they stock in the bathroom. The shampoo, conditioner, body wash & lody lotion all smell fabulous! They also include other essentials like makeup remover wipes, shower cap, etc. They even have some bath salts that smell fabulous if you have time to enjoy a nice bath. Unfortunately this trip is for business so, I havent had much relaxation time. Also, my hubby could not join me this time due to his work, but we will definitely have to come back on a weekend to enjoy this wonderful place together. Since I had to be at my client site at 7:00 AM, I did not get to enjoy the full sit down breakfast this morning but Teresa & Craig packed me a nice go-to b-fast bag packed with all sorts of goodies including juice, bagel with cream cheese, a banana, and a delish Kind bar & even put a nice go-to coffee cup out for me so that I could take my coffee on the road. Also, I must say in this day & age I am very concerned about cleanliness at the big chain hotels and this place is immaculate! I have already booked some return trips as I am working on a project in the area for the next several weeks. I am sooo glad I found this place and would highly recommend it! Growing up, our kids referred to it as the "Bridgey Mountains Cabin". Lois and Ron are wonderful hosts! It is uth Toe River built in the 1930's. It is located up hwy 80 about 30 minutes from both Spruce Pine to the right (on Hwy ) and Burnsville (on Hwy ). There are four waterfalls within a 45-minute drive. Asheville is only an hour away with the Grove Park Inn for an amazing romantic dinner, and you can visit the Biltmore Estate, Gardens & Vinyards (I highly recommend the Bistro). The cabin is located on one of the two only suspension swinging bridges in NC. The other swinging bridge is up river a few miles. We call this "Sunset Beach" because of the Vietnam veteran who stands on the bridge next to an American Flag every day at dusk and watches the sunset. We enjoy hearing his stories, and also inner-tubing, swimming, collecting mica and beautiful rocks, and fishing. Back at the cabin, just a short three minute walk from the house is the bridge used to cross the river. This is a beautiful place to enjoy wildlife, especially bird watching. Bring your binoculars. You might see the bald eagle nesting in the area. To the left of the bridge is a fantastic place young children to wade, explore, and collect rocks. To the right of the bridge, you can hop in and inner-tube down river. (Inner-tubes provided, life jackets a must! Strong currents, even for strong swimmers, bring your own). There's a grill, and if you ask nicely, John, Lois son might even build a bonfire so you can roast hot dogs and make smores! But, my husband and I both agree our favorite days are the rainy days reading on the porch listening to the rain fall on the tin roof, tree frogs, and the sound of the river. Nothing beats it. He said he was the Day Manager and wanted to know what my comments were. As I was explaining a particular experience he cut me off and began yelling at me and said it was my fault. A few minutes into the yelling a female employee came to the front and attempted to calm him down and told him to go in the back and I turned to leave also. Then he yelled out the F*** word at me. Shortly after some other customers came to the front desk and heard the details of the commotion and said they agree with me about the place because they also were having a bad experience/dispute with them for accusing them of smoking in the room and they didn't.
