We made our reservations online several days before arriving. We were planning to explore the area and also the Blue Ridge Parkway in early July. We arrived about 7:30pm on Friday evening and utilized the online check-in feature and digital key. We appreciate this feature which allows us to head straight to our room. We did notice that when we made our online reservation that the Hilton site noted that the outside of the building was being renovated so we were not surprised when we arrived and there was scaffolding and various construction related equipment outside. The interior of the property looked updated, clean and cozy. It looks to be well taken care of. Our room was on the second floor and we felt it was nicely appointed and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay. We had a king size room. The bed slept comfortably. It was really nice having the indoor pool open till midnight, but if I could have a suggestion have the pool opened from 10 to 12 for adults only. The breakfast this morning was good but not much seating. The front desk lady was super helpful and I joined yalls free reward system. We will definitely be back. This was my first time staying in a hotel in the new COVID world. We picked this Hampton Inn as the price was right, well-reviewed, and thought it would be a safer choice as it was recently remodeled. Before I even entered the building, I felt better knowing they were enforcing COVID safety with 6ft distance markers in the front lobby, plexiglass at check-in between customer and employee, employees in masks, breakfast served by staff not buffet style (mostly prepackaged items available), and the room doors had sealed markers to confirm no entry since the room was cleaned. The remodeled hotel was very attractive. Our room was very clean, a nice size, with a comfortable bed. My only complaint was the pillows were very small compared to what I think is needed for head support. The hotel had an indoor pool and hot tub that was open till midnight, which is much later than most I've seen. I did not use it as others were and I didn't feel comfortable. I did however have a chance to use the fitness center which was 24/7. They were limiting it to two people in the room at a time, which I appreciated, I luckily was the only one in there when I went. Not much near the hotel as far as restaurants, and it seems any places closed pretty early on weeknights for take-out. However, very convenient off the highway. So, a great one-night stopover on our way to the NC mountains. read more

Just one night here because I really didn't feel up to that last two hours of driving home after fighting my way down the serpentine roads from Mount Mitchell. I've stayed in dozens of Hamptons and this one is great. My room was quiet and secure. The bed was clean and they had plenty of towels laid out in the bathroom. Wifi worked well and the work desk was comfortable. The hotel is near the highway but I did not hear any highway noise. The clerk who checked me in was friendly and the breakfast in the morning was well cared for. This was a good stay and I would definitely use this hotel again. We stopped here for one night with our grandkids over Labor Day weekend. This hotel was only about 15 minutes from Linville Caverns. We were on the 2nd floor. I loved being able to check-in online, use a digital key and check out online. They have a nice breakfast with waffles, fresh fruit, oatmeal, and lots more. The indoor pool and hot tub was nice. Plenty of seating and towels available. Did have one time our digital key wouldn't work and we couldn't get signed into the internet but the folks at the front desk were quick to resolve both issues. As others reviewers online have stated... Do not judge this hotel by the exterior. My wife and I stayed at the Hampton Inn for a pleasure trip over the Thanksgiving holiday. The interior was clean, bright, and decorated for Christmas. The staff was exceptionally friendly and suggested several restaurants and activities to enjoy while in the area. The room was clean and in good repair, as were the fixtures. The arrangement made sense and the room flowed with little impediments. The television was massive and had an external HDMI pigtail attached to hook up a personal device. A nice touch in the room was the coat rack on the wall near the door. The rack was very useful and well placed. The only issue I had with the bathroom is that there was no retractable drying line installed. That is always a welcome touch at a hotel with a pool to dry swimming suits on. This would be a very inexpensive thing to add to each room. The breakfast area was kept well stocked and clean with a different breakfast on each of the two days. The pool and hot tub were nice and INDOORS which is always a plus during the colder months. The pool area was kept clean with some relatively small towels to dry off with. TIP: Bring the towel from your room or a beach towel. You most likely will not be able to wrap these around yourself. Given the price point and level of the hotel, it earns 5 stars. I would stay here again and plan to my next trip to the area. read more

Passing through on the way to pick IP our son from camp. This is a wonderful hotel. I've stayed I'm Marion before and nothing had really exceeded or even met my expectations. This place far exceeded them. The positive! Location, not in the main hub of things, bit kinda on the outskirts which is great. Very convenient to I 40. Pool, hot tub (both indoor), breakfast area, lobby very clean and outstandingly decorated. Room well apportioned, mini-fridge, microwave, desk. Large bathroom. Everything very clean! The only glaring thing was the heater on the hot tub appeared to be out of order. This is minor considering a very reasonable cost. Will add more after breakfast tomorrow. Delicious breakfast. Ham, cheese, peppers omelet, cheese omelet, home fries and then the usual fare. Bonus? Fresh strawberries! read more

We stayed at the Hampton Inn for 2 nights this month for a funeral. It's conveniently just off the highway. There aren't many hotels in the Marion area, and it was a little more than we wanted to spend, but they gave us a discount ($20 or $30/night) because of the funeral. The room was good-average. They gave us a handicap accessible room without asking. It would have been nice for them to ask because there was a seat installed in bathtub that made it very difficult to shower. It was not easy to remove. -1 star for the lack of communication there. The breakfast was impressive and the highlight of our stay. They have everything. Pastries, yogurt, and cereal; eggs, bacon, potatoes, and waffles; lots of juice, tea, and coffee; so much more I'm not remembering. The indoor pool is heated, but it was still too chilly to enjoy a swim for more than a minute. We preferred the hot tub. There is also a fitness room that we didn't try out. I probably won't be back to Marion, but if I return, I'll stay at the Hampton Inn again. read more

Hard to find but worth it. Though our GPS had difficulty finding this hotel between I-40 Exits. Very hospitable staff and the cleanliness was superb. Breakfast was great and all-round very good stay. Suggestion: Many rooms house more than one person usually using more than one piece of luggage. Room offers only one luggage platform requiring the additional luggage to be placed on a piece of furniture possibly causing scratching. Supply at least one portable luggage rack. read more

My rating is more of a 3.5, but I'll round up. The hotel is currently undergoing renovations, which may be why it is cheaper than other Hamptons in the region. Although the building exterior was a little off-putting at first due to the construction, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. My main gripe is that my room had one of those pesky thermostats that you can't set to constant fan, so you have to deal with the a/c unit turning on and off all night. Also, the bathroom had an older plastic tub and shower curtain so short that it barely reached the rim of the tub. Neither of these issues applied to the other, more modern, Hampton I stayed at just before this one, so my complaints in this review may not apply in a few months after renovations are completed. read more

We stayed here for a funeral and I must say it was quite nice. The beds were comfortable, the room clean, showers good, and staff very friendly. when we got there we were starving and in addition to showing us the vending machines they also gave us some bottled water and some bags of chips. It was much appreciated as we only had so much change. Breakfast the next morning was amazing: omlets, sausage, waffle maker, fruit, oatmeal, cereal, fruit, and juice and coffee. ROOM 119 Booked this hotel due to all the 5 star reviews they have received. Not sure where those other folks stayed, but this Hampton Inn is NOT up to the usual Hampton Inn standard. This is obviously an older property that only the lobby has been refurbished. When we went to our room, I felt as though I had stepped back in time. The only thing new in the room was the bedding and shower curtain. Everything else was from the 80's! Old furniture, old carpeting, old jacuzzi tub, old old old. The walls were stained, the room felt damp and not so much on the clean side. Hubster went out to the truck and brought in a blanket to drape over the sofa for us to sit on. We talked of checking out and finding another hotel, but we were at least a 40 minute drive from anywhere else to stay and we were already road weary for the day. Nothing a few drinks won't fix...we fell asleep and left early the next morning. If you're looking for the average Hampton Inn, THIS IS NOT IT. read more

After traveling all day flighting and driving from Charlotte to Marion this hotel was welcome place to stay. We had extended stay do a family funeral locally. The room was very clean, and the beds were very comfortable. The staff was very accommodating with favorable rate. The main desk check in was very good. The breakfast was served from 6 AM to 10AM . Not only was the stay lovely with literally 0 complaints (bed, pool, breakfast, quiet, etc), they found and returned to my home medication that I had left. They scoured my room, the breakfast hall and actually found it, called me back, then priority mailed it to my home within days. Let me add, that this medication has a very high potential for abuse. Anyone could have slipped it in their pocket and sold it on the streets for a significant price. Many people were involved in the search which not only speaks well of Hampton Inn, but also helped to restore my faith in humanity. We usually stay in Hickory, NC for our yearly trip to the Outer Banks. And while Hampton Inn in Hickory is nice, we will be returning to the Marion one from now on. Stayed here for a birthday getaway weekend. Highly recommend. Convenient location right off I-40. Convenient to all the places we were visiting - Linville Falls, Black Mountain, Grandfather Mountain, Wiseman's View. Check in was easy and quick. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was everything you could want -- it wasn't a modern, high-caliber place, but it was updated, clean, and comfortable. The provided toiletries were good quality, the bathroom was nice, and I loved the jacuzzi tub. The continental breakfast was wonderful. Good variety with healthy options, and it was all delicious, fresh, and the area kept stocked and clean. The best continental breakfasts I've ever had. My only complaints were: 1) No vent in the bathroom. Trying to get ready while the room is still fogged up is not fun. 2) The air worked and stayed at the proper temperature, but I couldn't get the fan to stay on when the air wasn't, even though I had it to ON and not AUTO. 3) There's a slipping hazard when showering in the jacuzzi tub. Overall, none of those things would deter me from coming back. In fact, I almost certainly see us returning in the future. Again, I highly recommend. read more

I stayed at the Hampton Inn in Marion North Carolina. Overall, I had a great experience with the super friendly staff, great amenities, and clean and modern rooms. The property is a short 37 minutes east of Asheville NC, where I was participating in the Laugh Your Asheville Off Comedy Festival. I arrived at 2:37am friday, after an all day affair of travel delays and festival activities. Kaytlin, at the front desk, greeted me with a friendly welcome, had my key ready, and got me checked in quickly. My room was clean, modern, air cooled, and well lit. I really appreciated that the light was on after my busy day of travel. It removed the worry of fumbling around a dark, unknown space, trying to find a light switch. Many thanks to Becky, who tended to my room via the "Squeaky Clean" card. Once I settled in, I immediately employed the oversized mini fridge with groceries bought from the Super Walmart 6 minutes away. I flipped through channels and submerged myself in my soft, comfy king sized bed. I woke up to a Hot & Fresh breakfast, which is included with my stay. The eggs and potatoes were on par with a nice diner. Also, as an added bonus, the breakfast menu varied Friday and Saturday. Later, I worked out in the fitness center, which included machines, a weight bench, a exercise ball, and dumbbells. Cudos to you Hampton, I was able to work up a sweat and get the same quality workout I get at my home gym. Another cool addition, my bill that was slipped under my door included a letter from the GM Rich with his contact information to ensure my stay was satisfactory. Overall, my stay was excellent. I appreciated all the included amenities although I only used a few. Also, I enjoyed the added personal-touch items and the great staff that made me feel valued. My mother and 4 month old daughter stopped here overnight after traveling and checked in around 11pm and checked out by 6am the following morning. Every staff member that we crossed paths with was extremely helpful and friendly! We do a lot of traveling and it was so nice to see people who obviously enjoy what they're doing and are happy to make your stay as enjoyable as possible no matter how short Your stay may be. Only one elevator for three floors!?! The hot tub heater was broken and there was not a timer switch anywhere. I was told that it was "always on" - yeah, at idle speed. This will not stop me from using Hampton Inn, but just not this one again. read more
