I was more than a little irritated with my stay. The big let down was the room cleaning, actually the lack of room cleaning. When I checked in, I was asked my preference for cleaning, I was offered daily, every other day or not at all. I said every other. Well, my cleaning day came and I left the hotel at 7am to go to a local conference & didn't return until 7pm & there was a do not disturb hanger on the outside of my door. My first thought- am i at the right room? My second thought, did they actually hang a tag to get out of cleaning my room??? I was at the right room. And guess what?!? My do not disturb was still hanging in the inside of the door, the one in the outside did not belong to my room at all! I'm thinking housekeeping has a little game they play. I took the tag downstairs & talked to the young man at the desk. First asked for him to now that my room be cleaned the next day, explained the door tag and gave it to him. He didn't get it, he made notes- but at the end of the conversation he tried to give me back the tag. No. My room has one & I did not use it today. Someone else put that on my door and my room did not get cleaned. Next day, I ran back to the room to grab lunch and housekeeping hadn't cleaned my room yet, but they were 2 doors down. I left, explored the area, came back late at 8pm. Room. Still. Not. Cleaned. I'm livid. I check out the next morning and was asked, did you enjoy your stay? Well no I did not. I explained again to a different young man and he understood and jumped to the same conclusion as me, housekeeping trying to get out of work, apologized profusely & said he would speak to management about it. My other issues: No waffle batter any of the days I was there. No sign, no explanation, just syrup & waffle makers taunting guests Coffee choices were only light roast or decaf. No, absolutely not. Where's my medium roast or dark roast? The bathroom in my room- the caulking was falling, torn, disgusting & the light fixture had mildew inside the globe. Yes, waffle batter was a thorn. I have a food allergy that I avoid the buffet always because of potential cross contamination. For a fully booked hotel, you'd think they would have everything available for breakfast. Or at least take away the waffle makers and stuff so we aren't baffled why there are cups to put batter in, but no batter. Room 305, stay was March 5-9th. I expected one cleaning. 2 stars for the lovely young woman who checked me in and the lovely gentleman who checked me out. I wish I had paid attention to their names. read more

I booked to attend a concert, day of arrival, room was selling at about 1/2 price. I inquired but still had to pay full booking price! I was in a 3rd floor room, but can't recall if 304 or whatever. I know 306 was beside me as it was occupied by a male businessman. Then, when I get to the room, it was initially nice, but the bathroom had serious issues! See pics. Mold, loose fixtures, no functioning exhaust fan to pull excess moisture/humidity. I stayed here because after the show, I didn't want to drive home late, in the dark. Next evening event, I wil have to reconsider my lodging options or ask to see the room & bathroom first before checking in. read more

Smells musty and moldy. Stayed on the first floor, immediate upon walking in from the rear one can smell the musty/moldy smell. Hotel has so much potential just lacks maintenance. People and staff were friendly! Why I gave 1 star, for them! read more

5 night stay #218 Check in was a breeze. The room was accommodating and clean. Musty smell at entrance but nothing a glade plug in air fresher can't handle. We had no housekeeping during our stay by choice. We left our used towels outside our door and picked up fresh ones at desk. The shelf in the shower did fall off while using shower. The bathroom is stocked with shampoo and conditioner along with body wash. Lotion too. There's a blow dryer. Mini fridge. Breakfast until 10am. It changes daily. All in all great meals. read more

My office made me a reservation. On my way I called and desk said " no we can't find it", so no big deal I rebooked an hour before arrival as it was a week day and they weren't full. Then I check in at desk and girl says "oh you have two reservations in same name.." ok. " but it's to late to cancel so you'll be charged for both" WHAT? A terrible way to do business and treat guest. I plan to write Hampton Inn and I hope they lose their franchise. Awful and intentionally deceptive. Don't stay there! read more

Worst Hampton inn I have ever been in, bed was horrible, pillows sucked, barely slept at all, left at 0430 because I was tired of trying to sleep! No hit water in bathroom sink whoever installed the faucet was an idiot, you can not open the faucet on the hot side at all, hits the wall, by the marks it's been this way for a while! read more

This is a very good hotel. First of all, it's beautiful, built in the style of the fabulous Newberry Opera House, which is right next door. When do you ever see a chain hotel which is architecturally pleasing?? I hope you can tell from my pix how pretty it is. Also I enjoyed the black and white photos of local scenes that are scattered around the hotel. The management has done a nice job of adding the little local touches. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and the staff is all friendly local people. You can walk down the street to a cute restaurant called the Flying Pie. This hotel & restaurant make for a very nice stopover, which I have done many times. I am looking forward to visiting here in the fall as my friend's grandson will be on the Newberry football team. read more

Best hotel in Newberry. This Hampton Inn has a nice pool and a very small workout area. The workout area is probably the only negative here. The breakfast is as good as any Hampton Inn that this Hilton Diamond member has experienced and the cookies each evening are awesome. The front desk is super helpful and the rooms are clean, current and spacious. Enjoy! read more

Really disappointed by the condition of the room. The sleeper sofa was broken and held together with zip ties. Notified the front desk and they put it on the maintenance log however we told them Friday and as of Sunday morning still hadn't been repaired. The grout in the bathroom is peeling, the air conditioner dripped all night and the walls were stained. We asked for another pillow and it was brought to the room without a pillow case. The About Town book in the room listed several restaurants that are currently closed. read more

Stayed here for one night. Hotel is beautiful on the outside. Full brick and matches the opera house across the street. Super convenient if you are watching a show at the opera house. Clean hotel, very quiet. Staff were really really nice and helpful. Breakfast was very good as well, better than at most hamptons. Fresh and well maintained. The free Internet did not work though. Maybe it was my room location, but in this day and age it should be full strength in every room. I used the free Newberry municipal Internet. I cannot think of anything wrong with the place. Would stay again next time I am in Newberry. Loses a point for no hot tub, low quality wifi, and no evening cookies. But seriously this is a well maintained, safe, clean hotel that I would stay in again. read more

We stayed there last night. The front desk lady was very cordial and helpful. Beds, etc. were good. The only drawback to the breakfast was that the scrambled eggs didn't look good; but the waffles were fine. We would definitely stay there again. read more

The person "preparing" the continental breakfast wasn't wearing gloves when she put out the bread, bagels and English muffins. When I spoke to the person at the counter she said she doesn't know their policy but she believed as long as they wash their hands they can handle food with their bare hands #gross read more

Beautiful hotel, comfortable beds. Very quiet , although there is a train track near by. The only negative is the strong smell of cigarette , it is somewhat disgusting to wake up to the strong smell of cigarette smoke by someone in the next room trying to give themselves lung cancer. This hotel is going through a renovation but they don't mention that on their website. The room they checked us into was not totally complete, Mis-matched doors, trim missing, toilet won't flush etc. Check in was supposed to be at 3 but they kept pushing it later because of the construction noise. The front desk folks didn't say all the delays were due to construction, just kept saying the rooms weren't clean yet. Really, not a single room clean by check in time??? I'm sure these problems will be resolved after the construction is done, but until then, ask about it. We feel they should have been a little more upfront about the situation. read more
