These hotel was impressive for what it was. This place is a great location with plenty of things to do in walking distance. Around the hotel, there's a bar, ice cream joint, gas station, fresh produce market and even a taco stand on the property, that's cool. The pool here is 24 hours and yes there's a hot tub. Certain days they have dinner which was chicken noodle soup which was honestly really great. Lobby was clean and gorgeous. I will say that the elevator and the rooms are a bit outdated. We had a friend at the clinic and opted to stay here for a night, before driving her home. The focus of the staff is very much on patients, which is pretty amazing. (Going so far as to remove snow from a car for someone who was struggling.) Bottled water was also provided. The room itself, & the included breakfast, was pretty standard. Nothing to complain about, though nothing really stood out. Still, the customer service really bumps the stay up a notch. There is a shuttle available that is not provided by the hotel. I cannot say enough about hotel manager Nick and his staff at this Hampton Inn on Broadway! We were in town for a family emergency and Nick and his staff were so compassionate and accommodating. Our family spent hours in the lobby in the mornings and evenings. The staff would pop over to our table and check on us. The rooms of the hotel were older but they were clean. The lobby was always clean. Breakfast was well stocked and had variety. Coffee and tea were available 24/7. You could stay at a fancier hotel but I challenge you to find better service because I don't think you will. read more

I'm now up to over a million Hilton Points, mostly earned on business trips involving stays at Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, Double Tree, Embassy Suites, Homewood Suites, and Hilton properties. So when I needed to stay in Rochester last night as part of visiting my brother (a Mayo outpatient), the Hilton App was one of my first virtual stops. This Hampton Inn was listed at a good price, so I reserved early and rechecked the rates often. I've also had enough stays where I know what modern refurbishments have been made and where a particular property stands that way. This one appears to be on the list, but has not yet been addressed. Although the bed was comfortable and the breakfast up to expectations, I found the room small, the shower a little weak on the pressure, and the property a bit dated. Also, when you're a hotel in Rochester, it's not unusual to see Mayo patients and families staying here. Hotel staff was nice enough and they were certainly accommodating to folks staying here who needed a little bit of extra help. Tip - There are 3 Hilton properties closer to the Mayo Clinic and downtown - Hilton - Hilton Garden Inn, and Doubletree. Their rates may be higher depending on demand. read more

This was one of the most outdated Hampton Inns I have ever stayed in . We booked a room with 2 queen beds for a college volleyball tournament and the room was small and bathroom was tiny. We had a room with 2 queen beds and it was very tight. Not like a typical Hampton. These hotels must be common in this area because of the Mayo Clinic. Would not stay here again. read more

I had a hard time deciding how to rate this hotel. The staff was suspiciously friendly which may be a "Rochester" thing. A few "hellos", but mostly smiles and nods. They have plenty of parking, about 4 Diamond spots and handicap parking around the hotel. My room was very comfortable and clean. The fitness center is open 24 hours and features 2 pretty new PreCor treadmills and an elliptical. They have free weights as well. Towels were placed on the machines in the morning. Free earbuds for listening to the TV on the machines. Breakfast was also very good. I love the concept of fresh cold pressed juices along with eggs, yogurts, cereals-----wow they even had Capn Crunch. The acid test for giving them 5 stars was when I asked for a toothpaste and shaving cream. Many Hamptons give you those crappy packets, but his one give you a nice travel size toothpaste and shaving cream. Nice job!! read more

A decent option if your planning to stay downtown Rochester. The hotel clean and had a great location for walking places. It will cost you almost $14 additional for parking though. I stayed here for a week with my Mom. This hotel & it's employees are definitely used to catering to the Mayo-patient crowd, and it shows. They're extremely thoughtful, courteous, & helpful. The hotel even has it's own shuttle to and from Mayo, which a majority of the hotels do NOT do (a bunch of them have a combined shuttle, which means you have to wait and go from hotel to hotel). Not Hampton, they've got their own, & it runs every half hour. Let's start with the hotel building as a whole: when you walk in the front door, you're greeted by friendly receptionists. There's a "working" & sitting area to your right with little areas to either setup a laptop and work, or a little sitting area to read or chit-chat, or eat. There's also a little tea/coffee bar that's setup 24/7. A little farther back on the right there's a small workout-room, which I didn't even discover until my last night there! It's quite small, has a few treadmills and such, but hey - it's better than nothing! There's a small vending machine and microwave by the pool area. Moving on, they have a GREAT pool and jacuzzi room! Both the pool and jacuzzi are decently sized as well as immaculate! The color of the water is crystal-clear: you can tell they keep up with it. There's a few little tables & chairs as well. The really cool part? The HOURS! If I recall correctly, the pool/jacuzzi were open until 11 on weeknights, & 24 hours on the weekend! This is UNHEARD OF in most hotels. They're usually pretty stingy with the hours. I'm a night-owl, so this was a BONUS for me. Every night before bed, we'd go in for a jacuzzi, then cool off in the pool, then back in to the jacuzzi. It was SO relaxing. Another thumbs up to the hotel for having a lift in both pool & jacuzzi for folks who have mobility issues & need assistance getting in/out. Kudos for that extra touch. Let's move on to the room: From a looks perspective it was GREAT! Let me rephrase: everything about the room except the mattresses, was great! It was nice and bright, pretty (non-cheesy) decor, had amenities such as a recliner chair, desk, fridge, and armoir. The outlets had USB ports to charge phones/blackberries/etc - which was so helpful! They were in the nightstand as well as the desk. The bathroom was a fair size and had plenty of storage area (open shelves under the sink). They had duvet covers on the beds instead of nasty germ-laiden comforters! There was even a little sign on the bed that said the duvet covers are washed prior to each guests arrival - how "comforting" (haha, get it?!) Now the mattress: horrible. Very light-weight, cheap, & uncomfortable. If you bumped into the mattress, it literally moved like 6 inches, they were so light-weight. The walls were very quiet, we didn't hear the neighbors on either side of us - but man, you could hear every footstep of the folks above us. The CONS of the room: the garbages were super small. We'd have the (2) trash cans totally filled (pop cans, water bottles, Starbucks cups) filled within a matter of a couple hours. It became quite annoying. I wanted a way to play music: a lot of hotels now have an iPod dock, or something of the sort - to play music. There was no fan in the bathroom, so the condensation would sit in there after you showered. Luckily there was a full-length mirror on the BACK of the bathroom door, so that one could be used instead until the bathroom condensation cleared out. One other annoyance was the temperature control fan for the room: if you're sitting at the desk working (which I was for several hours a day), the fan blows right at your face. All I could picture was dirty (possibly moldy from the inside workings of an air conditioner) air blowing right at me. I wish you could control the air flow direction so that when I was sitting at the desk i could aim it straight up and out of my face. My last annoyance is that although they had microwaves (which was a bonus!!) they only had styrofoam plates - which you're not supposed to use in a micro..... so it'd be great if they switched to paper plates so guests can heat up leftover food. Now, I mentioned earlier that the employees were super helpful, and I'd like to expand on that with some examples. There were a couple of times where we walked in the front entrance with lots of bags & such, & someone would offer to help us get our door (we were on bottom level), and there was also a few times when someone would offer to carry our stuff in for us. On my Mom's first night, she was at Mayo by herself for the first-time, & had missed the last shuttle back to the hotel. She called the hotel and told them she'd missed it, and they immediately came back to get her! They're very focused on customer care. I'd give them 6-stars if I could: if not for the mattress. Since you spend about 70% of your time at a hotel IN BED, the mattress is a really important part. Overall, I highly recommend staying here if you're in the area, or headed to mayo clinic read more

I cannot say enough good things about this hotel and the staff!! If you need a place to stay in the area, this is the place to stay. We stayed here for a week. Staff is extremely friendly & helpful. If you need a wheelchair, there is one by the front door. The pool is heated and is equipped for the handicap. While we were there they not only had the breakfast that normally comes with a Hampton Inn stay, but they served soup or chili in the evenings. In addition, I accidentally reserved the wrong night and didn't cancel (because I didn't know) and they refunded me for that night. I've never been dissapointed by the HIlton brand or its other brands. Hotel seems to be on one of the main drags if you will in Rochester. It just seems like a main drag kind of road. It was easy to find and easy to get into. I don't like when hotels are situated with a round about crazy entrance off the main road. This one was easy to access. Check was swift. Rooms were clean and spacious and the staff was helpful and friendly. Alright breakfast both hot and cold items. Nothing spectacular, but didn't expect too much. For our first visit to Rochester, J and I ended up really liking the area and the cute little DT area. The area around the hotel has a Wal-Mart and several restaurants and I think a Target too. Would recommend if in the area for a decent, Hilton brand hotel with quick access to DT. read more

There's this whole strip of hotels on Broadway that cater to the Mayo Clinic crowd, with huge signs advertising their clinic shuttles and such. This Hampton Inn has a shuttle, plus wheelchairs by the front door in case you need to borrow one. And while they did live up to my Hampton Inn expectations regarding the high quality of the room and the friendliness of the staff, there was a point at breakfast where i wondered how well they knew their clientelle. Remember, this is a hotel that apparently serves a lot of people in town to go to the Mayo Clinic. What did they offer in the hot breakfast? My family and I stayed here one night and were fairly disappointed. First, my kids only have 1 requirement for a hotel - it has to have a pool. However, when we arrived, the pool was EMPTY! Not that there were no people in it... there was NO WATER in it!!! There was no mention of this when I booked the hotel or even when we checked in. My kids were heartbroken. When I mentioned our disappointment to the front desk attendant, she didn't really seem to care. We stayed in a room with two queen beds, and it seemed a bit smaller than other hotel rooms I've stayed in (and my wife's not convinced it was a queen bed, but rather a double bed). The breakfast was the standard Hampton Inn breakfast, but it was nice they had a "to-go" breakfast bag for folks like me who couldn't eat until after their bloodwork in the morning. The morning shuttle leaves every half hour for Mayo Clinic, but be sure to get your name on the list early - first come, first served. read more

For years my family has stayed at this Hampton Inn when visiting the Mayo Clinic. They scrape snow & ice off windshields, help patients get to appointments on time, are inviting, supportive and kind. These things particularly helpful when you are somewhere for medical care. The extra TLC makes this place feel like "home". On my father's most recent visit, he'd lost his car keys and they helped him find them. They orchestrated messages and phone number sharing above and beyond the call of duty with personalized calling me late at night and sharing with him face to face -- they didn't just leave it up to voice mail. They personally made sure the connections were made. A personal touch beyond amazing! Always clean, friendly, warm good food, warm and welcoming faces. Absolutely LOVE the staff here!! This very recently renovated Hampton Inn pretty much hits it on all my chief requirements for a business class hotel. The room has Hampton's new urban chic feel and all the lightbulbs match in terms of the color of the light. The bathroom was remodeled and made larger, with excellent lighting and a nice amount of vanity counter space. The nite light in the bath is a thoughtful touch. The nightstands on both sides of the bed feature plenty of USB ports and outlets for charging electronics. In fact, the only blemish with my stay was being asked for ID when I stopped at the desk to pick up my room key upon arrival (I had checked in earlier via the Hilton app), which I normally do not have to do at Hilton properties. read more

We chose this Hampton Inn for our 2 night stay due to appts at the Mayo. The staff was friendly, an older property but the room CLEAN and updated. Decent breakfast and they have soup and bread in the evening. There is a Perkins right across the street for close dining. The shuttle service to the Mayo was very welcome because the nights we stayed we had a blizzard of about 10-12 inches of snow. The staff actually went out and cleaned off everyone's vehicle! Who has ever heard of that before! This will be our go hotel when we have more appts. The price is agreeable for what you receive. Well done Hampton Inn!! read more

The rooms are smaller, the breakfast was lacking, there was no to go bags for breakfast on the go, my list can go on. The hotel room was fine, but I was treated extremely unprofessionally by the Hilton Honors Reservation Service (Hampton is a member hotel). I was lied to in order to get this reservation. We are the parents of a son who uses a wheelchair, and I am told the representative we needed a first floor room. I explained that previously we were put on a fourth floor, and then the hotel needed to be evacuated and we had a terrible problem. The representative was about to confirm the reservation but hadn't confirmed to me about the first floor room. I've done this dozens of times and each time the hotel is called directly by the representative to confirm a first floor availability. She put me on hold and then came back and said it was taken care of. Only then did I give my credit card information. But when we got to the hotel they had put us on the third floor. They said no first floor room was available, and now it was too late to cancel. I then called the Hampton/Hilton Honors 800 line and explained what happened. I explained what happened to an agent who said he would connect me to a supervisor. I waited 15 minutes and then I was cut off. I called again and explained and this time waited 10 more minutes before speaking to a supervisor named Curtis. He said there is no way a hotel can guarantee a specific room. I explained I was not asking for a specific room, only a first floor room due to wheelchair use. He still defended the person who lied to me. He said they could not check, but honestly I've done this dozens of times without an issue. I am still trying to get someone at Hilton to discuss this with me. What they are maintaining violates the Americans With Disabilities Act. It was a fine room, but a horrible attitude. read more

Pros: * King size bed was very comfortable. * Room was relatively clean. Cons: * Bathroom was awful. A very bad stench was coming from the toilet bowl as if their sewage system was backed up. (And i am not saying a little stench, I am talking about a smell that consumes the room and hits you in the face when you walk in the door after being out to dinner, it was bad.) Shower head was garbage with very little water pressure. * Its just me and my wife, so a little noise is no big deal for us, but if you had kids, you never would have gotten any sleep. Was the loudest room i have EVER stayed in. noise lasted until past 3am. * Front desk staff in the middle of my checkout decided to answer the phone and discontinue my conversation and questions. I cannot express my gratitude enough to all the staff at this hotel. This was my first stay at this hotel and I was alone. My was due to medical visit which was not a happy one at that. The housekeeper Alondra has been amazing in accommodating anything extra that I need. Brent and Dave helped me replace my refrigerator immediately due to it not cooling. Lisa at the front desk is very kind and always lifts my spirits. Amanda the General Manager worked with me to find me a room for my upcoming 30 day stay. She upgraded me to a suite as my husband will be with me. She was very understanding and caring of my situation. I will be spending Thanksgiving and Christmas at this hotel and I know they will make me feel at home as much as possible!
