Excellent experience. I highly recommend this hotel. Very clean with friendly and helpful staff. The location is great, walk to local restaurants or pack a picnic and sit by the beautiful lake. Swim in the summer or ice fish in the winter. The staff at the hotel welcomed our two small dogs and even left treats for them. My whole family felt pampered! read more

This is an older Hotel that has been renovated. They did a really nice job. The the rooms and all were very Clean and comfortable. Comparing prices here and in town's nearby, we felt the cost was reasonable. read more

It is one of the very few hotels in the area. It's only about a year old so things were nice and new, but unfortunately it seems as though upper management have left the staff here out to dry. We had 'mess-ups' from the get go and the older lady at the desk this evening seemed to take forever to do anything. They had all the wrong information for us in their computer including a completely different address which was weird. They also put us in a room with one bed (at first) though we specifically reserved 2 beds. Since we did see the room with one king bed, I can tell you that I wouldn't recommend it. It was extremely small, it was hard to walk by the bed and turn around. We went right back to the front desk and thankfully a room with two beds was available and it didn't feel quite so claustrophobic. PS we were there for two nights and throughout that time we heard other people having similar check in/out issues as well. Seems like they're still working out a lot of kinks. I think a district manager or something needs to come in and oil the gears a bit, help them get up to speed on things and learn how everything works, not just how it's supposed to work. WiFi - Don't count on their free WiFi working and don't count on anyone being ale to help you with that. Seriously. They do have plenty of expensive options to purchase WiFi but if no one could help us with the free one, I wasn't sure they'd be able to help with costlier options either so I just used my phone as a hotspot. Breakfast - I feel bad for the poor lady working that area. It was her fourth day on the job and she was left to do it alone, obviously with little to no experience. She was trying but the poor thing was exhausted from trying to please the guests. We weren't in a hurry so we didn't mind waiting 20 minutes for more eggs and sausage (kielbasa type) to be put out, but some people were testy about there being no hot food. The waffle maker was ok, but the batter comes out slowly and people didn't seem to have patience for that either. I made a waffle while waiting for the eggs and it was just ok. I didn't love the selection of cereals and I can tell you that unless you have to eat gluten free, don't try those cereals. Yuck. The infused water with pineapple was really good but they only put it out in the evening. Our room, 113, had a light pole right outside our room and for some reason they thought it was a good idea to play music from a speaker integrated into the light fixture. The sound filtered into our room through a vent or something and it was a bit maddening to hear it while trying to watch the tv or do some work on the computer. I find it hard to focus if there are two completely different soundtracks happening so I had to turn off the tv. We did inquire as to what that was (because we thought it might have been coming from the room above) and the lady at the desk told us it was under control of the city who thought the music was a great idea... but the pole was on the hotel property, so... but honestly, there is no one out there to listen to the music. You don't need it, please get rid of it. Cleanliness - things were mostly clean but I wouldn't call it thorough. We found a few large pieces of hot pink sequence in our room, I'm guessing they came from a really flashy dress or someone's party decor. Also found an ant crawling on the desk so we were careful with any food we had in there just in case. This property is pet friendly which is all good until one of your neighbors has a constantly yapping dog. It echoed through the hall and under the door into our room. Every door we walked by, it sounded like the barking was coming from that room. It was everywhere. Just know that is a possibility. There is a small indoor pool if you fancy a swim. There's also a small gym that I'm sure is adequate for most visitors who absolutely have to work out. Also, FYI for any liberals who may stay here. They keep the TV in the breakfast area on Fox News. Why not a station that's more middle of the road instead of completely right wing? read more

Guest room, lobby and dining area were very clean and cheery. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The hotel was comfortable and conveniently located for a trip to Kandiyohi Power, which is under 10 minutes away, around a couple of cornfields. Green Lake is just across the street and you can take a nice walk to the park there. O'Neil's restaurant, Zorbaz on the Lake and a cafe are all within a short, safe and scenic walk. Also a DQ and Subway within sight. Mel's convenience store is next door for gas and sundries (including live bait). The hotel has a well-stocked convenience item selection if you come back tired and just want a Lean Cuisine to pop in to the microwave in your room. The breakfast buffet was typical of this type of hotel, but everything was good and fresh. Loved the mango smoothies and pineapple infused water. The drive from MSP is long but scenic. read more

Super 8 room at a Hampton Inn price. Our room made me think of an old motel that remodeled and tried to add the big guy stuff. One king bed nearly fills the room. The phone is next to the bed but clear across the room from the desk and in a corner. The TV is on a side wall in the room not in front of the bed. No water glasses in the room. The entire room arrangement is a disaster. We travel a lot and Hamptons have been one of our favorites but this one is really a disappointment. read more
