Parking isn't entirely clear on what is ok. A few blocks of shops are open. Plus pop up booths. A cross btwn a farmers market and an art walk plus prepared food for dinner. read more

What a great way to spend some time in Hanapepe. Art and food vendors line the street, along with the permanent shops selling their wares. Many were priced high; my favorite was Fonda's Daughter, a well-curated vintage shop. I'd always wanted to visit the Talk Story Bookstore, and it was quite packed. We went across the Swinging Bridge, which was a lot swingier than I expected! For dinner we had some excellent chili from J's BBQ. Live music made the street feel cozy as we strolled. read more

This is such a great way to spend Friday night! All the art galleries and shops are open late, past 8pm, and there are plenty of food vendors and performers on the street, which was filled with pedestrians. There is truly something for everyone. Do come early (starts 5pm), because I noticed a lot of the vendors started packing up even as early as 7:30pm. It does sound like the vendors switch up from time to time, because I did not see some of the ones mentioned in the other reviews. My favorite was the Filipino food stand. Parking can be easily found on the street. If you need a point of reference, use Japanese Grandma Cafe as the starting spot. read more

Absolutely loved this night market! The shops, art galleries, music, and stalls all had great products and it was so nice to browse and feel apart of this community event. I especially liked the bookstore, spice shop, and enjoyed some really tasty Thai food (pad Thai, curry, and Thai iced tea). We came here after a boat tour in Port Allen and had hours to kill before our flight home. Yes parking is busy but we easily found a spot a block away. I saw portapotties in the market so perhaps they've resolved the toilet issue as mentioned in other reviews. There's also a nice one in the spice shop. I'm so glad we were able to stop here, it was a wonderful experience. read more

This little town sure comes alive on Friday nights. There is multiple vendors with amazing food and artisans and craftsman of all different sorts even live music. I highly recommend a stop by the Talk story bookstore they stay open late on Friday nights. My family and I had a great evening walking in a little downtown. read more

It's the most happening event on the island a lot of food trucks restaurants people lining the streets good way to try out some local food that gets crowded so park at the first spot that you see once you turn on to hanapepe. I tried r The pizza at the café bakery it was way too expensive It had a dough though but the tomato sauce was way too sweet five dollars a slice very expensive however the bread in the store looked great. A place to eat bad food and buy bad art the coolest thing is to walk across the hanapepe bridge. A must when in Kauai. Without question, the best thing we did on Kauai. Parking is goofy but who cares, find a place and walk this old school town. They have signs on the buildings so you can read about the history. The street is cool with fun shops, book stores etc.....also, the crazy bridge etc.....do not skip this location. read more

We were told by friends to come check out Friday nights in Hanapepe if we got the chance while on Kauai. Hanapepe is a small town & when I say small, I legit mean a very long block. There is not a ton to do minus shopping at the art galleries or eating but Friday nights the art shops stay open later, the few restaurants open up outdoor seating and some local food shops/trucks set up shop. We wandered down the block looking at the assorted art galleries work, ranging from landscape, people, animals to more symbolic or local type work. We actually purchased a few small pieces! There was an adorable book store called 'Talk Story' that I found to be very inviting. A women was playing the violin are front. It felt warm and comforting. I also like the Aloha spice shop where we bought some yummy seasonings to bring back to Oahu. We wound up buying tacos from a food truck along with a slice of fresh baked pie from a local stand. Prices were affordable. There's no bars but there was a coffee shop and a liquor store if you don't mind brown bagging it. It ends rather early (9pm) but I'm glad we explored the town. Adorable Hawaii country-esque place to go! BONUS: my favorite find here was the Hanapepe bridge. It's a cool hanging wooden bridge you can cross that shakes; go during the daytime for awesome pictures. Super fun, brought the kid out in me! read more

I love this Art Walk. The community is out and having a great time in the street. There is an abundance of really good food; food trucks, pop-up tents, restaurants that expand out on to the street (malasadas and pie, nuff said). Some of the art is not my style, but it is an event to see and Hanapepe is a warm and welcoming place. read more

This little town comes alive on Friday nights. We stopped by during the week to walk the bridge and check out some shops but it was pretty much dead. Friday night was a totally different place with tons of food booths crafts and produce. Had excellent ice cream sandwiches made with macadamia nut ice cream and home made ginger cookies. Hanapepe the LEAST tourist friendly town I have visited. Only one crummy and dirty restroom several hundred yards off of the old town main street. All town shops advertise NO PUBLIC RESTROOM. So you drive an hour or more from the popular hotel areas and arrive with no rest rooms available except the park. When they have the Friday night "art walk" one owner unlocks his porta-potty. If several businesses allowed public use none would be impacted. The town business owners lack any awareness of the impact this is having on their business. I will not return until they correct this situation. read more

I'd heard commercials on the radio for this Art Walk and happened to be passing by on a Friday night after a day of adventures in Waimea Canyon and Koke'e State Park. We were muddy and sweaty from hiking but since it was raining anyway, we figured why not stop by-maybe the stores won't mind us tracking in a bit of dirt. I was very impressed with the community spirit and large turn out of what appeared to be a blend of locals and tourists to this low key weekly event. It gave me an opportunity to check out the shops and galleries of Hanapepe which stay open until 9 on Fridays. The town's shops feature a great array of local paintings, jewelry, food items and even a small bookstore. There was live music and I really enjoyed the slow pace and quaintness of the town. Check out this weekly event, Fridays 6-9. If you plan your day accordingly you can tack it on to your trip back from Waimea to enjoy both adventures and culture all in one day. read more

This was such a fun thing to do on a Friday night! Apparently every Friday night, the entire (but little) town of Hanapepe turns into this food/music/art festival. Locals from all over the island and from the town itself set up kiosks to show case their art and jewelry. There were also tons of food trucks and restaurant options to try. It was just a really nice local scene. It starts at 5:30pm but I read online that it was impossible to find parking, so we got there earlier (around 5ish) and boy were we glad we did. We parked at the first open spot we found by the side of the road, and by the time we left, there were cars for miles. So definitely come earlier. The locals were all super friendly and were really eager to talk to everyone visiting their kiosks. I highly recommend stopping by the COOP. The folks there were so kind and friendly, and there's lots of art to buy and the money goes to keeping up the space inside the COOP. It's basically a beautiful space for kids to come and play. We happened to go the day before Christmas eve, so we were lucky enough to see the island's Santa! Hilarious gent that drives a red jeep that says "Santa" on the side, and he really does look like Santa. Wore a red Hawaiian shirt and Santa hat. Super entertaining. If you're not sure what to do on a Friday night in Kauai, this is a great option to try. We loved it. read more

Love this Art walk! Variety of foods, shops, entertainment. This week they had their first annual chocolate festival, that was terrible. Highly over rated. They offered ( on flier) passports that was unavailable soon after opening. This nulled you from taste testing thru out the event, now only available for purchase at a high price! Our 1st local meal after landing 5hrs ago! Awesome experience...laid back, relaxing evening street fair in a slice of old Hawaii!! Arrive at 6:10p & found parking easily. Our group of 8, enjoyed grazing thru all the food options...top choice was Porkys Kalua Pork dog, followed by the Venezuelan combo plates & malasada sliders. Kids enjoyed shave ice but will skip the "pop" truck next time (nothing special, small & pricey). Highly recommend!! read more

High on our list of places to return to after our first visit to Kauai, was the Friday Night Art Walk in Hanapepe. It didn't disappoint, and we were delighted to find that it had grown and improved since our last visit. There were more artists and musicians represented, more food trucks and more people enjoying this small town that has re-invented itself. We enjoyed chatting with the vendors and sampling their wares, trying new local foods, talking art with the artists, and watching tourists and locals alike enjoying the relaxed festive spirit. I find it amazing that they can turn this sleepy little village into such a festive place every week!
