It's a very nice little Library, fairly small in size, with very helpful and friendly Librarians and helpers. I came in to do genealogy research and also occasionally to print out labels for items that sold on eBay while I was traveling. The library and it's equipment were very easy to navigate and I appreciated having them available. I found out a couple of days ago (September 2016) that there is a lady librarian named Rebecca who is active in genealogy and she is the one who posted some of the photos and information about my ancestors that I found on the internet. The first is the kid area. There are hundreds of books and DVDs for your little ones to pick from. There is also a play area full of toys for hours of playing fun for the kids while you get into a good book! Second, I attend the monthly book clubs. Great chance to read books you might not have picked up otherwise and have some great discussions. Book Club meets the first Monday of every month. You can go to the library at anytime to pick up the month's book and there are bookmarks that show the books for the next couple months as well. Join the Facebook page or check out the library's website for weekly events and activities hosted at the library as well! I've attended a Halloween party with the kids at the library as well as Pinterest craft activity nights!

We spent a majority of the time in the children's section which boasted several interactive play areas, a private room for events, a STEAM focussed room for workshops and hands-on learning and well-organized book stacks. I appreciated how many book covers they had easily on display and their shelving system. They also have a pet gecko in the kids area. We could have easily spent an hour plus here. And they've got so much more than books. I visited today and was offered a tour of their Digital Media Lab. Patrons of the library can take advantage of several 3-D printers and only pay for supplies. Cricut machines and software are available to create card, paper products, tee shirt transfers, mugs and more. A state-of-the-art video studio and several audio studios are available for aspiring performers. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and proactively helpful. I got inspiration for an upcoming project that I am working on for a family reunion. One of the staffers printed off information that I needed for my project. The children's area of the library is huge, filled with books, discovery lab, reading areas and an activity room. Toddlers were playing with a few toys during my visit. Upstairs, I found a massive collection of videos and adult books. Several banks of computers were buzzing with patrons taking advantage of the free service. The staff was friendly and happy to show where to find specific books. Comfy seating and work spaces are scattered throughout the facility. Several conference rooms can be reserved for community use. The building is beautiful with a modern architecture that lets in lots of natural light. There is a featured art wall in the lower level. A bookstore and coffee shop are available near the main entrance. There is a parking garage on the south side of the building complete with EV plug stations. Restroom facilities are upscale and immaculate. The library is an easy 5 stars and sets a high standard for libraries.

It was really quiet when I went in on a Tuesday afternoon, and I'm looking forward to coming in when I need to write! The teen section had several rows of books, which I love to see. There are study spaces right there too. I noticed a coloring station as well with option to ask for alcohol markers and fancier items. The children's area is a good size and full of fun! I brought my mini BFF with me and we played in there for a long time--and she would've stayed longer! They have a large wooden playhouse that they've made into a garden center. It has felt veggies, a gardening toolbox with plastic rakes and spades and such, gloves, an apron, seedling containers, fake flowers, etc. Other fun toys included wood blocks, plastic dinosaurs, puzzles, cars and trucks and a large town-road carpet to play with them on. They even had a felt "make your own pizza" station, which we loved too. All of this is on top of the computer stations and plethora of books for all ages of kiddos. There are also picnic tables outside under a small pavilion with a view of the birdbath and birdfeeders. I loved this library and will definitely be back!

Pei in 1969 with an addition by James Paris in 1987. What I noticed first was an incredible sculpture that stands in the Library plaza. The sculpture, known as Large Arch, was created by Henry Moore in 1971. Inside the library are high ceilings with a modern and spacious feel. There are large sections of adult books on the first and second floor. On the first floor are public computers, newspapers and other resources. There is a large teen area with skylights and comfy seating. In the basement are conference and a class room and an incredible children's library, complete with play areas and a puppet show stage. There is an outdoor patio off of the children's section. On the second floor is a indoor garden atrium that brings in natural light. The staff is helpful. There is a space where they sell excess and used books. There were several oil paintings by notable Hoosier artists. There is also a small veteran tribute near the front entrance. There is free parking on the west and back sides of the facility. I would put this library at the top of the Indiana libraries that I have visited.

The space is gorgeous, flexible, and works beautifully for both professional and creative gatherings. We also host our neighborhood meetings here, which has been a great experience. The library consistently offers free classes, helpful staff, and access to a wide range of resources that make it more than just a place to study or work. It genuinely serves the community. When I am there working or attending events, I always try to sit by the windows overlooking the courtyard. The view of the skyline is a bonus and makes long days feel lighter. Highly recommend this library for events, meetings, or simply spending a productive day.

The kids area is thoughtfully designed and full of activities and toys for a range of ages. There are lots of meeting rooms and tables, chairs, and seating area options. Our library has something for everyone. There's a seed library for gardeners. There are 8 Adult book clubs. There are computer classes for teens and adults. For Teens there are video game clubs, a dance party and crafts. Our library offers incredibly diverse offerings that are inclusive. From activities for neurodivergent teens, a variety of events for children and English-speaking classes led by volunteers for adults. I have spent many an hour in the Pendleton Library doing family genealogy research and borrowing…read moretheir computers to print labels and make copies of pertinent information. I am not able to check anything out because I don't live in the area . For such a small library they have quite a few books in the room that caters to genealogy and lots of old newspapers on file so I found a lot of interesting information about the area and more specifically about my relatives. I was able to trace my family back five generations and found ancestors buried in several cemeteries in the area. I look forward to coming back to the library when I travel back to Indiana again. Note: Unless it's changed, they charged $3 to use their computers compared to the Anderson Library which was free. My only disappointment with them is that in 2007 when my mother passed away I decided to make $100 donation to the library in her name because she was always such an avid reader and probably taught me my love of reading and this was her hometown. When I sent the check I specifically asked them to send me an acknowledgement that they had received it but I never received anything. When I was there in person I asked them if they had any way of checking that they received the money which would have been about a year earlier and they were able to check that and verify that it was received. I had found a thank you letter in my mother's papers for a check she had sent to them after my uncle, her brother, passed away and that was what gave me the idea of making the donation in her name. It just would have been nice to have that acknowledgement.

I stumbled upon the Carnegie Library while walking around downtown Muncie. I love visiting…read morelibraries when I'm in a new area, so I popped in with alacrity. First: It's oh-so quiet in this library. This is a nice place to just exist in silence. That said, this isn't your regular public library, with story times and such. This is a specialty library, and it's more like a repository for old things: old books, archives, vintage catalogues, genealogy information, local history and things like that. But they also have computers that you can use for free, and free wifi, and printers if you need to print something. I'm not from Indiana, so the ancestry records have nothing to do with me. But I think that's cool that if you grew up in Indiana, or have relatives from this state, that you might be able to find out some interesting information about yourself here. The people who work here look ready to help, but ultimately, they leave you the eff alone, which is nice. I got zero greetings, which is the exact number of greetings I wanted from a small, quiet library.

Cindy assisted me, and she was professional, kind, and helpful, even though I had NO idea where to start. She's as much an asset to the library as the library is to Muncie. Well done!

As others mentioned, the natural lighting inside the building was amazing with so many windows. It also features quite a few "nooks" in which you could get lost in a book, study or get some work done. I really enjoyed the modern architecture, and from my seat I had a beautiful view of shade-loving plants. The desks along the west wall of the building all featured outlets as well as usb ports. There's also a bay of PC's, a children's room as well as what appeared to be a good-sized meeting space on the far north wall. The building itself and restrooms were very clean. Next time you're in the neighborhood, I'd recommend checking this library out!
