He suggested sending it off to Casio to see if they could work the magic required, and warned me that the parts could be expensive if they were able to fix it. I got a call a little over a week later with an update - they couldn't fix it. Bummer! I popped in to collect it, and even though Robert had spent a lot of time helping me, and trying to fix my watch, he insisted there was no charge. Brilliant communication together with warm and friendly customer service meant that even though I was pretty upset my watch couldn't be fixed, I left with a huge smile on my face. I couldn't recommend Stevenson's any more.

Not that it looks rough, or that the diamonds in the shop window are exactly hidden - this place blings from blocks away! There is a wide range of jewellery on display in the windows, from potential engagement rings to more simple and elegant designer necklaces. There are a lot of older fashioned styles available in Stevenson's if that's what you're looking for. Bear in mind, however, that they also stock an impressive range of more contemporary designs, including Pilgrim and Rennie Mack (my favourites). They also sell Hot Diamonds which make lovely gifts on special occasions such as 18th and 21st birthdays. Hot Diamonds are very subtle in deisgn, and elegant without being stuffy. On the contrary, they are very modern and unique in design, much akin to fellow big names such as Links of London. So I guess what I'm trying to say is there is something for everyone in here, and with Stevenson's stocking many different styles of jewellery, you won't be hard pushed to find something you like in here.

As well as Jodie herself, you'll also find jewelery brands such as Tatty Devine, Anna Lou od London, Kleshna and Supercute. Plus, it might interest you to know that she also sells a range of jewellery made out of vintage biscuits. You know, if you're into that sort of thing. The best thing about this boutique though is that it isn't at all overpriced. Jewellery starts from under £20 - making this a great place for gift buying as well as the good old impulse buy. I commend Jodie for being bold enough to bring a place like this into an arcade that hasn't really changed much in years. It adds an extra element and attracts the interest of younger generations who thrive on vibrant statement jewellery. It's well made stuff so it's moderately expensive at times, but you can find some rare wee oddities in here that'll keep me coming back for more. My boyfriend bought me a rainbow coloured ring from Jodie's that looks like a cross between a cake and a bouncy ball. Not only was it a bargain considering how pretty it is, it's much more my style than some of the sparkly numbers next door. They sell many different types of jewellery from both independent British designers and jewellers and Mr Dower himself, who hand crafts the most precious rings to your specification, such as engagement rings! The service is really good and the store has just enough, but not too much choice, so you can always find something to your taste and usually budget too. Not the cheapest, but great quality and designs for jewellery made to last and love.

I cannot recommend Dower and Hall. I had family rings remodelled back in 2018 into 3 stacking…read morerings.. Around 12 months later I lost a Ruby from one ring and a diamond from another. I took the rings back and was told it was wear and tear, which I strongly disputed (the rings had just been remodelled 12 months previously and lightly worn!). I was massively upset a losing a Ruby and a diamond that had been worn by my gran. This comment really upset me. The rings were repaired at a cost of £50 to me with a Ruby that didn't match the 2 rubies. Again I was upset at this. Then that Ruby fell out! By this time I couldn't cope with dealing with Dower and Hall any more. They had completely lost my trust. After leaving it ( pandemic etc), I took my rings to another recommended jewellers to see if they could replace the Ruby and check out that the rings were safe to wear ( ie I wouldn't lose any more precious gems). The jewellers said the rings had not been built up enough and very liable to lose further stones. The costs to make good was substantial. So upsetting as I paid dower and hall a lot of money to remodel the rings, to then lose hugely sentimental gems worn by my late gran. Charged further money for a repair that was not good and now being quoted substantial money to make the rings wearable by a different jewellers So no - I will never go near Dower and Hall ever again
