I explained the situation to Response Crew and I was relieved to receive reassurances from the manager of Response Crew that he'd send one of his best door guys out and that we would not be disappointed. The manager also called back twice to make sure we were happy with the job. Although I missed those voice messages I figure posting about my experience here will make up for that. It's always tough when you are trying to hang a new door on an old frame that may not be perfectly straight anymore. And yes only time will tell if the fit holds. But I will say that even if we do have another problem in the future, I know where to go - Response Crew is a no brainer and for sure I'll be a repeat customer for future needs!

We reached out to Gary after buying a new house in Arcadia a while back and he told us that whenever we were ready he could help us with installing ceiling fans, blinds, and whatever we may need (score!) but when we called him back to schedule something he was sick and told me he would call me back in a week. A week goes by with no phone call, so I call him-- but no answer... and his vm is full. so I waited a couple more days and called him again, still no answer; so this time I followed up with a text asking if he was still interested in helping us out with our handyman needs and he replied yes and to let him know when we would like him to come help. Perfect! I called him when I got back to Phoenix and he didn't answer (of course), so I texted asking when he was available and he asked if he could schedule me in for between 1-2pm on Thursday. Yes I replied, then I texted asking him a couple questions about estimates for hanging large blinds and included photos. He ignored my texts that night about the quote/estimate altogether, so I texted asking if he received my messages requesting an estimate to which he replied "Yes, I'll look at them when I'm at your house." (Not really an answer or estimate- kind of slippery). So today rolls around and of course I'm at home waiting on this handyman to show up (of course I organized my day around him) 14 minutes before he was due for our appointment, he cancels. He says: "Can we meet Saturday 9-930? Caught up in work." (No apology for the inconvenience, or wasting my time, just a crap text). Me: "You know Gary, let me talk to my boyfriend about it. After reading your Yelp! reviews we expected a little more professionalism to be honest." He says: "Well I've been sick for the last month and been out of commission. I've been trying to catch up on my jobs. Sorry if you feel that way. I know I can't make everyone happy. Me: "It's not a feeling. You cancelled 15 minutes before you were scheduled to show up and have been unresponsive and not very communicative with me. Those are facts. While I understand it's impossible to make everybody happy, you could do a much better job by being a little more professional. Then-- radio silence. Gary, you can make customers happy; how about apologizing when you're wrong and unprofessional instead of #1: making excuses, then #2: blaming me, or acting like I'm the one with unrealistic expectations when I've accommodated the date and time YOU chose and then flaked on. Would not recommend.

UPDATED Review: The…read moreteam reached out to me previously and offered to fix the issues. In our conversation, Rubi assured me that they will fix whatever is wrong with the project. I was hesitant because she said that one day would be enough to do it. When Gilbert arrived, he was by himself (unlike previously when he had an assistant) and said he would take care of the issues. I asked him if he can sand and stain the areas instead of painting in one day and he said it would take more than a day to do that. Given other circumstances, I really needed to reclaim the room that was being worked on and more than a couple of days of renos is something I couldn't do anymore. So I reached a compromise of him smoothing out some of the surfaces and painting instead of staining. Not what I wanted 100% but it is growing on me. I want to highlight that Rubi and Gilbert are genuinely nice people that would be willing to work with you regarding your project. Generally speaking, closing the loop in communication probably would have prevented mishaps. I can't give the 5 stars just because it is not what I had envisioned, but had the circumstances had been different and I had the ability to give their team more time to do exactly what I wanted, I truly believe they would have delivered a 5-star service. The shower pan was installed with no liner....that's literally bathroom construction 101. Which means I'm going to have to rip out both shower pans and have them redone costing me thousands of dollars and delaying me renting out the property. Stay the hell away from Russ. This guy is a straight-up con artist who steals and leaves a trail of destruction and unpaid bills. The work he did/subbed out on my shower was a complete joke. It's leaking through the floor pan, rotting the baseboards, drywall, and flooring. I had to chase Russ down just to get the subcontractor's contact info--(don't forget, I paid half of the shower cost direct to the subcontractor when it was already in the budget and was Russ's responsibility but I needed the job done). Russ blew all the money I gave him and it was NOT on my job because he barely bought anything. When I finally called the subcontractor, he told me Russ NEVER paid him the other half--what a shock. The subcontractor promised to get back to me in a week, then promptly disconnected his phone. And I'm sure you can guess Russ quit answering my calls and texts. So not only did Russ steal money from me, but he also ripped off his own subcontractor and left me with a total mess. Russ is the definition of a crook. He'll leave you with unfinished work, unpaid contractors, and a pile of garbage that costs you even more to fix. AVOID HIM AT ALL COSTS. Worst experience ever.

The backsplash that came with the vanity did not have a side piece, so he came up with using the tile from the shower floor, which really tied everything together. His entire crew from demo to finish were so helpful and answered all my questions. We keep pinching ourselves every time we walk in our bathroom to make sure it isn't a dream! We couldn't be happier! Highly recommend!

Handyman Connection recently completed our master bathroom and kitchen remodel. They were recommended by a friend of ours after they remodeled her master bathroom. We are beyond impressed with their professionalism, reliability, and craftsmanship. Allen, the owner, met with us on numerous occasions before work even started. He was quick to respond to all of our questions, and guided us in the right direction. We received an estimated cost of the remodel upfront. As work started, we added additional items to the project. Allen ensured we discussed all costs and approved them before the additional work was completed. He was reasonable and fair throughout the entire process. He came by our home several times during the remodel and checked in with us to ensure we approved several details of the project. Additionally, it was clear that he supports his employees, as he spoke highly of them and brought our contractor lunch. Mark was our contractor and we could not have been more pleased with his demeanor, work ethic, and craftmanship. He showed up on time every day and he worked hard. He consulted with us throughout the entire project (our preference) and offered his professional opinion, helping us make decisions about details. When an unforeseen electrical problem arose, Handyman Connection addressed the issue immediately so our project would not delayed. In early July 2012 Handyman Connection repaired a pocket door in our laundry room and some rotted veneer on a cabinet at the base of the dishwasher. Phone calls of inquiry and follow-up were returned promptly, and the manager and two workers sent out to the house were polite and professional. There was little wait time between the estimate and performance of work. The fellow sent out to estimate came up with a good, simple, less-expensive solution to the cabinet-veneer problem, which was especially satisfying. He was a hardworker and did a good job repairing the pocket door, but he could not match the texture of the drywall he needed to patch after repairing the door, so the company sent out a specialist to attempt the retexturing. The house was built in 1963 and has a texturing on the walls that is unseen in newer homes, so younger workers simply have no experience with reproducing such textures. A member of our family knew something about how they were done originally, however, and, based on that information, the second worker was able to come close to the original (and surrounding) texture, but it's not a perfect match. The company showed itself to be flexible and willing to taylor the job to our particular needs, which really impressed me. My only reservation is my impression the pricing is a bit high, though it could be it's perfectly competitive. The overall impression is one of a group of people who are competent, prompt in follow-up, and professional in manner and appearance. read more

I think everything handyman connections on the logistics end was done properly. I like how you include a picture of who is coming to customers home and their back ground information. Very presentable for the customer. The guy who came to do the work was a great person but the work preformed was a 5 out of 10. The sliding door he put up was a wood door and he drilled it twice installing the screws and did not fill the hole he drilled or even ask if we wanted him to fill it. (I have extra paint to cover it too). He stated he tried multiple times to level the door so he had to drill multiple holes in our wall, and if we did not remind him to fill it he probably would have forgot. The door is still not level, it closes when ever it feels like it and there are gaps all around the door. You can see them clearly when the door is closed. He also forgot to put one of the stoppers up on the door he stated "it is an easy fix", to put a piece of wood up or something to stop door from slamming close. The stopper was included in the sliding door insulation kit. If I could do those things I would not have hired handyman connections. Again I think maybe next time I will just request a different handyman because if I need a job done I would like it done professionally and I would hope handyman connections would want the same. Again everything about handyman connections I liked and I know there you have others workers, maybe this handyman just had a bad day. read more

I'm really surprised to see the bad reviews below. I had 3 quotes from different companies, All three within 15 bucks. I found this company on AngiesList.com. They had the most reviews, (dozens actually) and I would have been shocked to see lower than 4 stars. I wanted someone same day, I'm sure that was hard, but they made it work. Worse customer service? I spoke with their company several times and had accurate and very upbeat representatives. They actually worked hard to find a contractor the same day. Other companies would want photos for quotes which can be okay -- but that makes me still wonder if a quote is accurate. Sometimes a picture doesn't depict problems or size and can end up adding another expense/issue that picture couldn't pick up. Jack came out, quoted - had a professional Labor agreement asked me what I wanted done, which was awesome. I needed help and he did what I couldn't do and gave me a clean canvas to work with( AC leak in ceiling drywall ) I wanted do the painting etc to save money so he got me up to that point. He didn't try to sell me more than what I wanted to pay for. He started work and got my business vs the other company the next day. I was the proud owner of a new home and this company was contracted to do some electrical work once I moved in. This transition was quite confusing for both me and the company. No one could really explain to me the work to be done, and the 1 hour window for arrival in my email confirmation had NOTHING to do with the work (nor was that appointment time correct since Mike, the technician, arrived ~30 minutes late). Needless to say, the person who arrived seemed as if he didn't even want to complete the electrical work, had a verbal altercation with other contractors onsite, left all outlets unattached and all debris on the floor around every outlet he worked on, and ultimately did such a poor job that he left my house unsafe. I had to immediately call a licensed electrician to rectify the situation he had caused of electrifying almost all metal on the outside of my house. The company has however worked directly with my electrician to reimburse him in order to correct all of the problems that the original service person had left me in. (The only reason I give them any stars) The craziest part is that I have yet to receive a call, an email, or anything to apologize or even offer to put me in a hotel since I have not been with full power since the incident. I was very impressed with the work Rob did on removing my fireplace - clean and fast. At that time he did that work I had a discussion with him on how I would like to have shelves built for the wall and showed him a picture I had found on the internet of what I was thinking of doing. He took the time to completely scope out the design with me and gave me details about how he would complete the project. Every time I told him an idea I had he made it better. Based on his professionalism and job knowledge I went ahead and contracted with Handyman Connection for Rob to build the wall unit. He went above and beyond to complete the project on time knowing that I was anxious to have it done as soon as possible. He kept me in the loop on all decisions and was very patient with my questions. While Rob was working I had another person in the house working on removing my flooring. Rob saw the work he was doing and offered my flooring contractor some his own tools that would help make the removal easier. He is a team player with his clients and other professionals. This is a great company! We sent in a request online for work to be done, not sure how quickly anyone would call us back. The next business day, my husband received a call to schedule an appointment for someone to come out to give us an estimate. The appointment was scheduled for the following Saturday and was told the handyman would call before coming out. Saturday morning Rob called to say he was on his way. He gave us an estimate for the repairs we needed done on our patio. We called the next day to schedule an appointment for the work to be done. On the day of the scheduled appointment Rob called to say he was on his way. When he was starting the repairs he noticed that something we had not seen before needed to be repaired. We were only charged for the cost of the supplies for the additional work. He completed the job in a timely manner, cleaned up all his mess. My husband who is very picky about details was impressed with the completed work. He plans to use Handyman Connection again and Rob to do more work in our home. We reluctantly reached out to Handyman Connection when our home builder, Artisan Builders AZ also known as Win Big Development LLC, refused to fix issues for our home that were (lawyer verified) within our warranty after months of runaround. Although we were originally frustrated spending money in this scenario considering legal assistance would've superseded the actual cost of the work, we had a great experience. Greg, the project lead, did a fantastic job at communicating what the required fixes would be, the *freshly* sensitive topic of warranty that Handyman Connect would provide after their work, and what to expect through the 3 day project. When they arrived a few weeks later Zack and Josiah did a fantastic job with the required fixes, accommodating our home schedule for work, and ensuring we were content with the completed work. Allen Hopkins, owner of Handyman Connection, and his craftsmen did an outstanding job remodeling our two bathrooms. Everyday we would receive an email advising us of the time of the next day's scheduled work and the scheduled craftsman. At the end of the day, our house was completely cleaned up. We cannot say enough about Allen and the Handyman Connection team. Each of their people added knowledgeable assistance where needed and were a pleasure to have around. To Mike (an over-the-top creative and awesome tile artist guru), Tim (an outstanding electrician, plumber and construction magician), and their assistant, Troy (who was here, there, and everywhere) we owe an enormous debt of gratitude for a job well done. We highly recommend Handyman Connection. Why? A tub-to-shower conversion in 2021 left half of our small 1976-era bathroom in need of some TLC. Since we worked with them before, we contacted Handyman Connection for the job. We asked for new flooring/replace aging baseboards, repainting, updated light fixtures, recaulking our existing vanity, and adding disability grab bars that doubled as towel bars. Ron treated this project with great thought and care. He didn't rush through any part of the job and his attention to detail was outstanding. Ron is so easy to work with and his years of experience were evident throughout the entire process, from getting the estimate to job completion last week. I had my drywall job looked at by Ray and then scheduled for the work to be done by Adrian Lopez with Handyman Connection. WOW! the job Adrian did on a Saturday was fabulous. He was courteous, friendly, and exactly what I would expect from this company. Adrian did a wonderful job in covering anything that might get dusty with his dry-walling. As a type A personality regarding mess/dirt/dust I was so pleased, when he left there was very little for me to clean up (took me 5 min to vacuum the carpet that was not even close to the area he fixed). We needed help and needed it fast! We were having a pool installed and found out at the last minute that our doors were 'backwards' and wouldn't pass inspection (we thought we had covered all the bases!). We called Handyman Connection and asked if they could help. The receptionist was friendly and found a way to get a service technician to our house right away to help us decide what we could do. The technician who came was courteous and prompt, his ideas were fantastic and the price he quoted was excellent. I have had this company do complete remodels on my kitchen and two bathrooms. WOW!! They did a fabulous job and I couldn't be happier with the results. They were very meticulous and paid attention to every detail. My master bathroom was taken down to the studs and completely redone. They had great suggestions and ideas but weren't pushy. I have also had them do minor work like replacing my kitchen faucet and disposal. I have never had any problems with this company... I checked them out on Angie's list and they looked like the best service around Phoenix. I have also had them out to my employer's medical office several times. Always on time, did a great job and cleaned up after they were done. They have repaired cabinets and counters, hung our flat screen TV's in the lobby and worked with our management company (who can be very picky). A previous (and not-so-good) workman did a poor job at my house in Mesa, AZ. He had installed an exterior clapboard crooked, and did not sand off sharp points of the underside of a porch roof repair. Later on, the house painter estimator who evaluated my house for a paint job noticed that and said they would need the plaster points leveled prior to painting. Jay B from Handyman Connection came out at worked quite hard to redo the bad work. Jay was amazing! The job was done QUICKLY and PERFECTLY and with the utmost care and precision. Jay is also quite personable and cheerfully answered many questions I had. He also left the work area absolutely clean. I found handyman connection through Angie's list. Phoned for an appointment, and was immediately greeted with friendly, and helpfulness to set an appointment convenient to my schedule. I missed the 1st appt. due to a emergency, the office was understanding, and reset. One of there employees met with me gave me an estimate that same day, and due to his quote, knowledge, understanding my needs, and professionalism, Handyman got the job. Justin and Ryan came to my home to remove some stone flooring that had been done several years ago on an uneven floor that resulted in a large lip on one of the tiles. Not an easy job, but they worked together and Justin very laboriously worked until he got the replacement stone perfectly even and flat. He had to chip up and replace five 18"x18" pieces of stone in the middle of others already laid and get them all to fit like they'd always been there. Since I've done tiling myself, this was no easy job on a very uneven concrete subfloor, and I'm very impressed with the results. They also removed some very old tile on the sidewalk outside of my front door so I could replace it with something I liked. Again, great job. I was beginning to lose hope finding a quality handyman to repair water damage in our mobile home. We needed subfloor replacement, as well as cabinet and counter removal and install. We had Handyman Connection out to our house to do two tasks 1) replace the double doors and frame to our HVAC closet outside, 2) reinstall the blinds in our child's room (that two other companies had attempted to do, but had failed). They sent out Tony and he did a PHENOMENAL job!!! Not only did he replace the doors to our HVAC closet, he also rerouted our AC drainage line that we have had issues with flooding in our house for years (and not to mention have had multiple AC companies out to fix with no success). He was also able to reinstall the blinds, which was no easy task after all of the damage caused to the window frame by the previous people. He was also extremely affordable as well. He started work right away and did a phenomenal job. We gave him pictures of what we wanted for the kitchen and fireplace, and he replicated the style to a T - which most contractors can't do without a designer helping them. He also was able to design and order custom cabinets for our pantry. Eric was extremely detail oriented throughout the process, checking in with us as needed for style and safety decisions, and always updated us on cost or possible delays. He also was insanely knowledgable about every area of construction such as dry wall, plumbing, electrical, fabrication, flooring, tiling, etc. This guy really is a one man show - he can do it all. Eric did have a few subcontractors help him with the job and they were always fantastic to work with as well. He knows quality workmanship and partnership. He finished the job in a timely timeframe and our home is gorgeous and the workmanship is quality - for a great price. If you need any renovations done, Eric with E.L. Construction is the way to go. I received quotes for work to be done on 2 properties. Not a huge job ($3000) but a solid variety of tasks that allowed me to see if this is an experienced company that can do the jobs well and reliably (installing ceiling fans, bathroom exhaust fans, weather-stripping exterior doors, tightening a few loose toilets). They said that it would take 4 days to complete our job. So I waited 3 weeks until they could scheduled us in. At the end of the 4 days, this was what was completed: 1 ceiling fan installed in a bedroom. Nothing else. 4 days to install a ceiling fan? The injury to insult was the total lack of communication from the office. Not one single email, text or phone call after I left multiple messages as to what the status of our job was. We had tenants moving in the following week so I sent an detailed email to cancel and explained what went so terribly wrong with this job. No reply. Just an invoice for the 1 ceiling fan. I found a different handyman who singlehandedly completed the entire scope of work in 2 days! without complaint or fanfare and $840 cheaper. He is now my go-to guy for all my repairs and remodeling jobs.
